Description: Relaxation and refinement as only The Breakers can do. In late December 2016, we revealed the legendary Seafood Bar, completely reimagined around its best feature: the stunning Atlantic backdrop. Come for fresher-than-fresh seafood for lunch or dinner. Stay for inspired cocktails or something from our extensive wine-by-the-glass selection. A glamorous new exhibition kitchen puts you at the center of it all. Stroll in as you are and experience the allure of the yachting lifestyle. Bespoke nautical details, beautiful new aquariums, and a front-row seat to the ocean views no matter where you sit. Nothing short of spectacular, this is Palm Beach life at its best.

The Seafood bar at the Breakers is the perfect restaurant for lunch.

after spending time by one of the 4 pools at the Breakers what better then a delicious lunch at the Seafood bar.

Very nice cold soups like gaspatcho and vichy soup and great bloody mary.

The bar is wonderful. It over looks the ocean. Bring money.... Food is excellent and the staff is too.

Wow, this is a special place. You can spend hours admiring the scenic views. The indoor trappings remind you of an old castle. Paintings on the walls beautiful furniture and the eye popping ceilings. Not to be missed. It screams elegance and old money. We ate at the Seafood Bar. The bar features ocean views. An open kitchen and the famed wrap around aquarium. You can sit and enjoy a drink while watching the sea creatures...Excess at its best. The food was elegantly presented and it was good. The servers are well trained. They are attentive but not intrusive. This is an expensive outing meant for special occasions. Everyone has an opinion. But, I think an occasional splurge makes life fun.

While the food and drinks were very good, the views were spectacular! Unobstructed views of the ocean; all while sitting at the bar which has tropical fish swimming swimming in it. That's right, the bar has a large aquarium as its 'shelf'. Sushi anyone?

...but hey, it's the Breakers, right? Over the years, I've enjoyed seeing this bar/restaurant, which overlooks the ocean in the rear of the hotel, go through a number of iterations, ranging from casual convenience... to today's up-market seafood theme. In fairness, the food is mostly above average, but at these prices one's expectations begin to soar. On a recent visit, we both ordered Mahi-Mahi, and were disappointed to be served what appeared to be an appetizer portion. We complained and were told, in essence, "that's just the way it is..."

But my real issue with this restaurant is that it doesn't take reservations. So waits can be intolerably long. Worse, because there's no management of the tables' occupancy, the restaurant attracts single diners, some even with laptops, loitering at a table for four with a single cocktail, presumably enjoying the view. Very frustrating. For the life of me, I can't figure out why the Breakers, arguably one of America's better managed properties, allows this to happen.

Despite all this, it remains one of the few places in Palm Beach with a direct ocean view and reasonably satisfying food -- for a price, of course. Hey... it's the Breakers, right?
