Description: Sfuso is a small family owned and operated restaurant situated on the magnificent waterfront of Blackmans Bay just 15 minutes south of Hobart. The cuisine is a blend of Italian, Mediterranean and modern flavours utilising fresh local produce. The menu begins with a large range of antipasti plates followed by handmade pasta dishes, traditional pizza and regular specials such as eye fillet steak, roast duck and local fish. The wine list is ever changing with an emphasis on Tasmanian and European producers. Bookings are recommended.

“Well worth a visit.........”
Reviewed January 3, 2013

Have been to Sfuso both before and since it's name change from Rockwater.

Have visited as a couple and with other guests.

Have enjoyed the Sunday music on at least 3 occasions..........all very good.

Found Mat, co-owner, to be quite happy to discuss his wines and wine issues generally....eg the relative merits of cork vs screw caps and although we don't necessarily agree, the discussion was convivial.

Ambience and friendliness of the staff (and the regular clientele) is great. A recent visit had us discussing food with the chef and very chirpy wait staff.

We have enjoyed trying different selections from both the regular menu and the specials board.

Although our food preference has Italian food a fair way down our list, we have enjoyed some lovely meals...........if there is to be any (constructive) criticism from us, it would be the occasional overuse of oil on a couple of entrees (eg, the asparagus dish which was otherwise superbo, and the sardine dish).

Pricing for both food and wine is very good in our opinion.

Keep up the good work...it is great to have a quality restaurant in the Blackmans Bay/Kingston area.

“Just desert”
Reviewed December 16, 2012

Went for desert and coffee. Deserts were well priced for what they were, approx $9.50. They were well presented and delicious. One desert is enough for two people so share with a friend or they are happy to package the remainder up to take home.
We had the rocky road cheese cake which was divine.
Nice surroundings has outdoor area overlooking beach or a warm fire indoors for the winter.
Staff were very pleasant.
Didn't,t look at the dinner menu but also a great place to go for a drink.

“Average”
Reviewed December 8, 2012

I was a little disappointed with this one. The menu was only just and the food was the same. There was no atmosphere either.
It is in a really good position on the water and next to a really good restaurant that is quite often booked out, so I would have thought that they could have taken a better approach and advantage of that.

“Passion, creativity and style.”
Reviewed December 8, 2012

Reading the negative reviews below prompted me to write one myself. I wonder if these people were at the same restaurant my partner and I dined in last night? We have nothing but positive comments about this little place in Blackmans Bay. The staff and owners were very friendly and went out of their way to answer questions about the interesting food menu and wine list. Co-incidently; the usually over critical food critic for the local rag reviewed this place today. He too was obviously impressed. We will be back!
