“Getaway on the Beach”

This is an excellent resort with great oceanfront views. Has a very nice pool and jacuzzi, both indoor and outdoor. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a one bedroom lockout unit. Our only complaints. The studio unit adjoining ours used the same front door. It was very noisy whenever they left or returned. Also, the underground parking is great, but the elevators do not go to that level, only to the lobby level. You need to carry your bags up or else unload and then park.. Also, I would prefer a queen bed rather than a double. And I would like a bigger TV screen to fit the living room.

Used a RCI Weeks exchange because our home resort - Ron Jon Cocoa Beach was booked thru the summer. Had a small studio unit on the 4th floor over looking the pool and a fabulous UN-obscured view of the Ocean. Comfy Queen Bed and large pull out sofa worked out well for us (1 adult and 3 teens) small kitchen and 1 bath, but again, we could make do. It was very clean and had a mid week cleaning service. Fresh towels anytime you wanted by going to the friendly staff at the front desk. Stayed the last week of July and is was crowded. Enjoyed the pool after baking on the beach for hours. Nice little Pool Bar serving all sorts of drinks and adult favorites at very cheap prices for this area. Enjoyed an outdoor movie event on the deck which was organized very well. Short drive to Daytona Beach for even more fun and excitement.

Room Tip: Almost ALL rooms face the Ocean. The higher up, the better the view and less noise from the large p...

We used some of our RCI points to stay here June 2009, the resort was very clean and very well maintained. The staff were so helpful and friendly. Facilities were superb and the location was absolutely perfect. Located right on the beach, the kids lived it here. We are looking to return here. Highly recommended!

First room we got was not so hot- bathroom was dirty behind the toliet- room was just ok- when we discovered the intenet ( advertised fee wireless highspeed internet) did not work- they said it was because to many people were on- Hotel was virtually empty when we arrived- When we stated their was virtual no signal - they said we could use internet in the lobby- AFTER PUSHING they offered us a refund and admitted internet does not work in much of the hotel- we requested to be moved to a room that did- room was nicerthen original- seemed that hotel varies ALOT by rooms- Each room is privately owned- They charge $5.00 each for the plastic cards if you do not return them to the front desk- they do not clean your room while you are staying- for us no big deal- we had a pretty view of the beach- on high tide there is NO beach area

We exchanged a timeshare week for a studio unit at Royal Floridian Resort to enjoy a late summer beach vacation. Before we confirmed the exchange, the resort reservation staff was very helpful responding to our question about the studio, confirming it was oceanfront. We were very pleased to have a studio unit on the top floor of the original resort building (timeshare sales in the newer, south, building continue) and it was, indeed, oceanfront.

The studio unit would NOT be large enough for four people, despite being rated in RCI's exchange system for that many. However, it is perfectly fine for a couple and we even had my wife's sister join us and sleep on the sofabed one night without feeling too crowded. The galley kitchen had everything a couple would need for their stay.

The resort is not fancy, but it shows signs of having been reasonably well-maintained and renovated. Beachfront resorts take a beating but the staff and owners here seem to do a good job of maintaining a comfortable, quality resort. The staff was uniformly friendly and helpful. There seemed to be enough activities for those interested in anything more than a relaxing beach vacation, although that's all we really wanted this trip.

I enjoyed paddling my inflatable kayak on two state-designated canoe/kayak trails within a few miles of the resort. I also enjoyed surf paddling two days and even got to paddle near three or four dolphins one day. (I swear one of them appeared to be body surfing!)

We weren't crazy about the fact vehicles are allowed on the beach but came to rethink those objections as we considered how it makes the beach accessible for older folks and others who can't carry beach chairs, etc., from a distant parking area. A nice public access with restrooms and outside shower adjoins the resort property.

The only complaint would be the street noise in the unit. Even though we were on the top floor, the loud motorcycles and other vehicles on A1A bothered us during the day (my wife had to work some while on this trip.) However, it did quiet down at night and we weren't bothered while sleeping. The simple fact is the resort is squeezed into a fairly narrow piece of land between the major street and the beach, so there's going to be noise, especially so near to Motorcycle Mecca (a/k/a Daytona Beach.)

Lots of nice parks and undeveloped areas near the resort to wander and enjoy. We had a great time and probably would return, especially if we knew we wouldn't need to be in our unit during the noisy parts of the day.

Room Tip: Be sure to confirm you will be getting an oceanfront unit. There are streetside units you would not...

We stayed in a 2 bedroom and 2bath in the south tower, the place was clean, fresh, flat screen TV in each room, full kitchen, full baths, nice living room area. The only thing I would say about the south tower is that, do not to get your room by the elevator, the bedroom window face the elevator, so at night the room is very light, and during the day, you cannot open the curtains because people can see inside. As far as the older tower, all the doors to the rooms are facing a busy road, so it can get very noisy, and the place is not as clean as the south tower. And also, after they assigned you a room upon arrival and you get to room, and decided that you do not like it, If request to change to another room, be ready to wait for a very long time, because they have to call reservation manager on the phone to approve it and they may even ask you to pay more, even if you are not upgrading. Front desk agent may also give you attitude about it. So, be patient and polite and it will work out.
Over all this could be a very enjoyable place only if you stay on the south tower away from the elevators.

Room Tip: Conner suites are quieter.
