The hotel is very amazing, a great central location close to everything. The food is to die for in the Fountain View Cafe. It's also very close to a lot of restaurants and buffets if you don't want to be stuck in the hotel all the time for food. Also some of the staff are very helpful with shuttle services if they are late or delayed.
Now for the rest of the staff; in the Fountain View Cafe most of the staff are very friendly, got a great attitude on them but watch out for the head waitress, she will not let you eat with out badgering you about money and hovering over you to see how much money you are carrying. When we had her as our waitress, it put us off eating and made the "Happy" atmosphere extremely uncomfortable. Also she made it extremely obvious she wanted a tip by highlighting in illuminous pink "Gratuity not included" even though she kind of didn't deserve one. The Fountain View Cafe is good but it's a bit silly how if you order a hot drink you are not allowed just the hot drink, you have to have juice or water with it too. Not good on a full stomach.
The staff at Lite Bites are the best, extremely helpful and couldn't fault them at all. Always greeting you with a smile, and one member of staff kept coming up to me and my mum with a big smile and did the Joey Tribbiani line "How you doing" for a joke which made us all laugh.
When booking the free shuttle, just watch out for Elizabeth who makes you feel like dog poo on the bottom of a shoe. She will not give you a happy welcome, or greet you with a smile on her face and she will just act very angry that you are "bothering" her. We thought that we could book all the shuttles in one day for a day in Universal but she talked to us like we were dumb and she said to us "Lets start over, I did not say you could book them all here. Which one would you like for tomorrow." In a very harsh tone, so we booked for Universal and decided to leave. The day we booked Islands of Adventure again, we had to speak to her, all she said to us again in a very harsh tone "Only got 10:15 and 12pm, pick one. I am not here for idle chit chat" which again made us feel very uncomfortable.
During our holiday we were running on a mixture of USD and Travellers Cheques. We had changed over $200 in the space of four days and the day we were going to Hollywood Studios we decided to change another $100 over. This is where a staff member at the front desk scared us half to death, we changed over the $100 and the staff member said to us "That's all you can change over, it is illegal to change over more than $300 in the whole of the state of Florida. If you change anymore over you could get arrested" we were shocked to hear this news. Let alone scared because customs let us through with the money we had, and if it was the case we had no money to buy any souvenirs or food for the rest of the 3 days we were staying in the hotel. Luckily we rang our holiday rep who said that it was not illegal to change anymore travellers cheques and that the hotel must have a policy on how much you can change. Which we were not told at all when we started changing money over in the hotel.
We never saw the house keeper of our hotel room 2204, but in our family we leave it until the last day to tip the house keeper for his/her services. The house keeper was making it very obvious that she was not happy with us not tipping her every single day, because we had a suction pad washing line in the bathroom for clothes to dry and when we came back from a day in the parks it seemed as though it was ripped down and just thrown in a tangled heap in the bath with the clothes, which became creased. A few days went by and we noticed that the house keeper was limiting our coffee supplies! We were used to having 2 coffee sachets for our Mr Coffee machine which made great coffee, but one day we only came back to one sachet between 3 of us
. So we had to re-use the one we had already used. I know tipping is compulsory in the US but my family would rather have the house keeper finish her duties with us before we tip. She really did not have to make it so obvious because we knew what we were doing.
One day it was 95 degrees and we saw a dog locked inside a car, no windows were rolled down for it and it was not sheltered from the sun. We couldn't find any security guard around so we just had to run around and speak to a house keeper. She barely could understand a word of English and barely speak English, all she could fully understand and fully speak was Spanish. We kept trying to explain to her the situation, all she was replying to us in very poor English "Owner just gone got food" it was no excuse to lock a dog in a car and not send for security to help the poor thing.
Even though the hotel is amazing I find it kind of silly about the WiFi, you get free WiFi in all the rooms. But if you do not use it in a certain amount of hours you have to re-agree to the Terms and Conditions then re-log into the WiFi. Which can get annoying and time consuming. Other than that it is fairly fast and reliable it lets you get done what you want to do online. During the summer it gets extremely noisy during the night, the walls are fairly thin and at 10pm when you are exhausted from a long day, it gets common to be woken up by non-English speaking holiday makers to start arguing right outside your hotel room and not stopping for a whole hour.
We were in the largest block of the hotel and throughout this large block only had 2 laundry rooms for everybody, you have to trek up to the 4th floor and spend more than $2 to exchange for 16 tokens to be able to use the washing machine, the dryer and to get a washing up tablet. You have to have the exact change and there is no refund for unused tokens, most days the token machines do not work. One day my mum had to trek in a violent thunder storm from one end of the hotel to the other just to get tokens and use the machines in that section. For everybody there is only 8 sets of 4 washing machines per laundry room which in the summer is always full by Brazilian summer camps going on tour throughout North America. One day our clothes were drenched from the Kali River Rapids in Animal Kingdom, and when we went to use the dryers all the Brazilian Summer Campers were using every single machine in both laundry rooms, when we asked politely to lend one of the machines they said "These are our laundry rooms for the night, its not our problem" so my mum had to wake up at 6am just to dry the clothes the next day as we were ready to go home. Not good for a very long day.
Even though the hotel is amazing it does have its down sides. Would come back again, we were here when it was still known as Quality Inn International, all the staff were amazing during that time but now its known as Rosen Inn International the staff need customer service training. We do not know what went wrong, when it went wrong or why as we were always polite and friendly to the staff.
