We just returned from a 16 day trip from Maryland down to Atlanta, then to Savannah, down to Orlando, to Tampa, and then up to St. Simon Island, and back to Maryland. We will be doing reviews for many of our stops. Just a bit about us. We are a couple in our 40s and have two kids aged 4 and 9 who are seasoned travelers and who have easy going personalities. We use hotels as a place to sleep. It needs to be clean and have comfortable beds. It does not need to be luxurious since we are rarely awake and in the hotel. This was our fourth trip to Orlando in the past 6 years, but the first time we have done the non-disney attractions.

We stayed 9 nights at the La Quinta Inn. The hotel was very well located for our needs. We visited Universal, Islands of Adventure, Seaworld, Gatorland, and Aquatica. The hotel was well located in between all the parks, so it was a short ten minute or so drive to most of the parks (Gatorland was about 25 minutes). A free Universal shuttle was included but we did not wake up early enough to catch it.

Helpful and nice staff; gave good restaurant recommendations and did a long distance fax for no charge. The room was clean and fairly large. Nice and large pool that the kids loved. The hotel is on Universal Blvd which was nice because it was a much less busy area then International Blvd where many of the hotels and restaurants are located. I am a runner and running down to and around the convention center was quiet and quite scenic. The kids liked the waffles for breakfast, the fruit was hit or miss, and there were limited protein choices. Overall a really positive experience for our first ever La Quinta stay.

When I arrived well before check in time I was very impressed with Joan at the front desk who went above and beyond to get me into my room as quickly as possible. And WOW, when I opened the door to my room I could hardly believe I was getting all this for such a great value to boot! Down comforters, 3 super fluffy pillows on each bed, SUPER clean room all the way around. My special thanks to Carmen in housekeeping for her awesome and expedient service with a smile during my stay!

We've been staying at La Quinta's now for sometime because of their pet policy. This is another one that did not disappoint! The room was very clean and large! Check-in was so easy and the staff was really nice and professional. The breakfast area was very crowded, but that is to be expected with any hotel in the Orlando area. Grounds were very clean. Didn't really see the pool at all, but we weren't there for that. The hotel was within walking distance to many places to eat (we didn't realize how close until we drove to the restaurant, which ended up being right behind the hotel :0) ).

Room Tip: 616 was at the end of the hall - perfect location to the elevator.

We stayed for a week because of a convention. Some staff were great others really horrible. The maid the first part of the week was great as the week went on, no trash pickup, maid picked up towels but did not replace them and I had to go get them in the lobby no one would bring to me and we were not offered a clean to the room. The furniture, bedding and carpet were one step above motel 6 or super 8. But service was definitely motel 6 and super 8. If you get a good rate, and can take care of yourself, go for it, Otherwise move up a star.

Room Tip: Room 215 was ok, Looked out onthe pool

Love La Quinta because of it's very dog friendly attitude. We travel for pleasure and dog shows with 2-3 Cavaliers. And this is one of the best La Quinta. Very clean, bright. Nicely appointed large rooms. Very convenient to I-drive. Walking distance to one of my favorite restaurants Cafe TuTu Tango. The breakfast room can be a bit chaotic but it is in a bright open area, with even outside seating. Always enjoy staying here.

We stayed here for 7 nights from June 11th 2013. We were a party of two couples in room 526 and 528 respectively. Our first impressions were that the rooms were clean and well maintained. .
The hotel is situated in a quiet area on Universal Boulevard but our room faced onto the Castle Hotel next door. This side of the hotel gets constant droning noise from the Air Condition plant at ground level and the fact that the hotel is only singled glazed.

Our main concern about this hotel is that pets are allowed to stay at this hotel and in the bedrooms. Surely this cannot be very hygienic as a dog free room cannot be guaranteed by the hotel unlike smoking or non-smoking rooms? Some barking at times could be heard from various rooms within the hotel during our stay.

The breakfast was adequate the only hot item being waffels. The breakfast area can become over crowded depending on time of day. There was always a lack of towels by the pool area and sometimes the waste bins were never emptied although the pool area was never overcrowded and cleaned every day.

All staff were friendly and helpful. The front entrance could do with an update as they have 2 sets of manual doors. Not very helpful for wheelchair access.

The hotel is located on Universal Boulevard away from the traffic which makes it easy to access north or south I drive and makes it easy to get to Florida Mall and other shopping outlets. Its position is still so close to I drive and all the shops and restaurants, they are just a small walk away. Try Millers Ale House $6 for a pitcher of ale and meals reasonably priced.

We would not stay at this hotel again due to the fact that pets are allowed and especially in any rooms not designated dog rooms.

Room Tip: Not overlooking Castle Hotel, immposible to get a room that a dog or some pet has not been in.
