After reading previous negative posts about Hawthorn Suites, I was very nervous about our planned stay, Nov. 28-Dec. 2. I was pleasantly surprised with our experience and would stay at the hotel again.

Yes, the hotel is a bit "tired" looking. Yes, the eggs on the breakfast buffet tasted like rubber.

But our room was quite clean. We asked for early housekeeping (as we have a 2-year-old daughter who naps from ~ 1 to 3 p.m. every day) and we got it. The housekeeper did a great job keeping the kitchen area clean. There was plenty of good food besides rubbery eggs on the buffet, and plenty of room in the breakfast area. The staff was friendly and helpful.

It took us about 15-20 minutes to drive to the parks, so the hotel's location was more convenient than I expected, as well.

All in all, we got excellent value for the low price we paid. We would definitely stay at the hotel again.

Stayed at this hotel for 1st week of a 2 week vacation. Went to check in at 11 pm and neither TV worked. Front desk, while not overly friendly, apologized and switched us to a different room.

Throughout the course of the week, we had to fix our constantly-running or never-refilling toilet a few times.
The eggs on the breakfast buffet are absolutely horrible.

Was also disappointed that we had a kitchenette (which was a big reason for this hotel being a choice for us), but no dishes to cook with...ended up frying a hamburger in a Corelle cooking dish. There were also ants around the sink and under the cooktop. Rest of hotel room was nicely cleaned.

Favorite part of stay would be the pool...kids absolutely loved the pool. Location, as cited by others, is also good...right next to Sea World and easy access to I-4 to get to Disney parks (or wherever).
We got the hotel at a good rate for this stay, but we won't be staying here again. I rated it "Okay, but some problems" for the various reasons noted above.

Recently just come back from staying at the Hawthorn Suites. Overall it was an acceptable stay but the hotel itself inside needs updating dramatically. The corridors are very dated as are the rooms. Breakfast was horrible, hardly any choice and the choice that there was I didn't think was good. However based on staying at the hotel alone and for the price it was ok.
If I was to go again to the same location I wouldn't stay in this hotel however due to the hotels location on international drive, you do definitely need a car to get around from there.
