“Lovely Resort”
Reviewed September 10, 2013

We traded a "bonus week" on our timeshare to visit this resort. The photos don't do it justice. It is a beautiful place with lovely, well maintained grounds. We had a two bedroon unit in building 83 which overlooks a man made lake. We had requested a low floor due to issues with stairs (there is an elevator, but it is usually in use) and were accomodated. The furnishings and kitchen appliances were very nice. It was well equipped, the only thing missing was a phone book. Luckily I had an I-pad with me (free Wi-Fi which worked great). Check in was easy, although they do hold you to the 4 pm time. That was fine, we went up to the Grill Restaurant and made a reservation for dinner and walked around until around 3:30. Upon returning, the check in line was wrapped around the lobby. A very nice man asked if he could help and we explained that we had already registered and were just waiting for the room to be ready. He ushered us into his office, checked his computer and produced our room keys immediately. The staff was very nice and polite. We only ate at the Grill at the golfcourse although there are several other places which offer more casual dining. There is a market on the premises, but there is a Publix within 10 minutes. Ask for directions at the desk, believe me, you'll save some money on necessities. All in all, a lovely resort. Keep in mind that there are 900 rooms here so it can be crowded. I would avoid school vacations in the future.

We own two Marriott timeshares and have been owners for a long time. We have travelled all over the States to numerous Marriott Vacationclub properties as have our adult children and several couples we know. The accommodations and services are consistently first rate. That's why we were a little disappointed when we checked into the Grande Vista and learned of a problem with our reservation. It was addressed and purportedly fixed but upon our checkout a week later we received a bill which contained information for a different guest commingled with ours. The corrected bill we received then contained charges to our room which we had not incurred. That issue was also addressed.

When we checked in we noticed a very strong, unpleasant odor in the two bedroom unit. We notified housekeeping which addressed the problem, twice. One of the engineers who came to check out the issue told us the unit had been closed up because they were painting and cleaning the air ducts and that they had been "scrambling" to get it ready for our arrival.

These are hiccups and did not otherwise ruin any part of a great vacation. They were addressed promptly and professionally by Marriott staff. But they were surprising.

Room Tip: Buildings 85, 84 and 79 are situated a little ways apart from all the action and there is a quiet po...

Although seeming to be big we had restful and peaceful stay at this well laid out resort. We used the second pool the most as it was nearer our apartment and always found plenty of space to sunbathe or swim. The location was excellent as we were going to seaworld/discovery cove during the week. Both were only a block away so no long trip home. Restaurants and supermarket also within easy distance. activities arranged throughout the week which seemed to be popular.

Room Tip: Block 7 means you don't have to drive around whole resort as there is an entrance right next to...

We love this resort. We've been 3 times and it never fails! With a young family it's perfect. The rooms are all very well maintained and provide everything you need. I stay with Marriott because I like their standards and consistency across business hotels - so mixing this approach into a vacation club setting gives me confidence before we arrive.

The only issue I had was in relation to check in, however we managed in the end to get the room type requested.

Beautifully laid out gardens, manicured lawns and plenty of open land.....very restful . It is more of a time share property ....the apartments are very well equipped with all facilities for cooking, washing machine etc. ....lovely balcony overlooking the garden. Pools are nice....restaurant has limited choice.

Location is good for visiting the outlet malls....a car is a must though.

Good vacation choice for families

My stay at the Grande Vista was enjoyable. The property itself looks larger than what it is. We stayed in a two bedroom unit with a party of six (2 adults / 4 children). There are three pools. The main pool was always crowded, but the others were decent. There were activities for the kids to do and they enjoyed the "charge it to the room" option. The unit we stayed in looked a bit outdated compared to other Marriott resorts we stayed at. Overall we all had a great time and would recommend this resort.

Room Tip: Ask for a room closest to the pool otherwise it's a little distance to walk to.
