It was fall 2008 when we first stayed at a Hampton Inn, in Toledo, OH. Since then my partner and I are staying at hotels within the chain wherever a branch was available in the areas of the US we visited. By this time we have stayed at at least 15 different hotels within the Hampton chain. After experiencing this amount of stays, we blindly are booking new stays at any Hampton branch. We have the idea we know what to expect, after all... However, we are not so sure about that after checking in at Hampton Inn Orlando South of Universal Studios Florida. The property is not worth the name Hampton. We were shocked and extremely disappointed by this property.

The property is VERY outdated, in each and every way. The staff is friendly, that's what we recognize from previous stays. That's about it, unfortunately.

The over all appearance breathes eighties all over. Not only the exterior, also the interior. The carpets are stale and don't smell nice. It creates a dusty smell in the rooms.
Outdated bathrooms easily become filthy. The bathrooms in the rooms we booked were on the edge of filthy.
The walls in the room were dishevelled. The paint, wallpaper and stucco were not decent.
The television was outdated; the quality of the picture is poor and only a very limited different channels were available.
The TV was connected to some sort of router/modem, what continuously was blinking and ticking. Something that's annoying during the night.
The fridge was very small and is making quite some noise.
How can the best (largest) type of room have the most adverse location? Right next to the elevators and the guest laundry, ice machine and soda machine.
As a business centre there is one PC on a shelf to the wall. No chair or privacy to please the user...
The breakfast area was noisy and too small for the number of guests. It didn't invite me to join for breakfast at all. Luckily there are lots of opportunities for breakfast close by the hotel.

This is a family friendly hotel; too family friendly for us. As a couple without kids we should have realized a hotel close to Universal and at the I-Drive will be packed with kids. And thus their noise, screams and slamming doors. This is no complaint, it's a warning for people that are looking for a good time (Orlando!) without a noisy hotel packed with lots of kids. :-)

Luckily we soon checked in at Hampton Inn & Suites Southpark (John Young Parkway) , close to this branch. That hotel had everything we expected. And the best staff and a great manager too. We had the comfort we were looking for and we had the rest we needed. It was shocking to hear the staff at that branch needs to redirect overbooked guests to the outdated Hampton at S Kirkman Rd!!!

I have stayed at Hampton Inn South of Universal from nov 7th to 17th 2009, for theme park amusement, shopping and to go to KSC and watch the STS-129 Space Shuttle Atlantis launch.
This is a very comfortable hotel, rooms are great, staff is great and free breakfast is a more than welcome plus. The hotel is well located if you've got a car (we had one rented) there is plenty of parking lot, and its easy to get in and out of it and get around town. but if want to go out by foot, then you would need to walk a lot (but hey, international drive is just around the corner). this is a pretty quiet hotel, but if you are on foot and will rely on busses, then you may want to look for a hotel by the international drive instead, close to a bus stop.
I would definitely stay on this hotel again later this year, and I will certainly try to stay at another Hampton Inn hotel in NY as well.

For Brazilians: Podem ficar no hotel, é muito bom e bastante confortável. Todos são bem atenciosos e receptivos. De preferência, aluguem um carro para terem mais liberdade.

the hotel was a perfect choice for a 1 night getaway. Close to universal and I drive, rooms were spacious though the beds seem to be a little stiff, not to my liking. The breakfast was plenitful. Hotel was clean and modern. Recommend.

Just spent two weeks in Orlando at the Hampton Inn South of Universal. With the official rating being only 2 and a half stars, I was a bit apprehensive. Even though it is technically a Hilton hotel, you still never know. We got in quite late, but the desk is open 24 hours and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is really close to I - Drive, Universal and even Disney is only 20mins away by car.

The hotel itself is quite basic. The rooms were clean and well equipped, though the bathroom was quite small and we found the bed quite uncomfortable (though most other people seem really happy). The walls are also quite thin so we could hear the next room over and corridor traffic, which was slightly annoying. Breakfast was really good, lots of food so fill your face! Only problem is that the breakfast room gets full between 9 and half 9 so be early to get a seat!

Overall, I thought the hotel was really excellent value for money. When all you are really looking for a hotel in Orlando is somewhere to put your head for the night, you couldn't ask any more.

This hotel is right outside of Universal, certainly works well when you've been at the park for 12 + hours! We were here on spring break, and the rate was only 90.00. The hotel is clean, offers free breakfast and being a Hilton property, has the great beds. The staff was very attentive, friendly and quick. Save the money, from staying at one of the park hotels, and stay here. It's a third of the price, and a nice property. Plus...you get Hilton honors points! You have to drive to Universal, but it's so easy and well directed. If we go back to Universal, this would be the hotel we'd choose to stay it. There is an outdoor pool, nothing spectacular, but the place is a great value.
