Hi, we stayed at the Rosen Inn for 2 weeks. We were on the 8th floor and had a great view from the balcony window across I-Drive and could easily see Universal in the distance. The only issue we had with the room was that you couldn't open the balcony door (for safety reasons obviously) but the air conditioning was great so it wasn't too bad. The fridge was a decent size but as the americans like their juice/milk in extra large sizes we could only fit 1 bottle in - so make sure you only purchase small size drinks. The microwave was handy and the room itself had 2 large beds with a flat screen TV, side table with 2 chairs and a decent shower/bath - with separate sink outside. We had issues with the chambermaids not making our beds properly and changing the towels, but I think this was down to them not receiving a big enough tip from us - we left $5 each day - which we thought was appropriate. A negative which I think could easily be rectified is that the room only offers coffee making facilities - they have no kettles or teabags - just a coffee maker, as I realised once I'd purchased some teabags from Wal-Mart and not being able to make any. We didn't eat the the hotel's reaturant but it all looked very clean . There is a convenience shop to purchase almost anything you might need, an arcade games room Japanese restaurant and a bar. There are machines where you can help yourself to ice - not sure if every floor had one - we were on the 8th floor and there was one on ours. There is acess to the internet but you have to pay for it - its located by the shuttle desk.
The pool was small, and didn't have anyone cleaning it throughout the day so we found dead bugs floating around which put us off using it again.
The porter named 'Chuck' was very friendly and gave us details on how to get to certain places like Wal-Mart and the various shopping malls (Premium Outlets which are situated at either end of I-Drive). He told us which buses we needed to catch and where the cheapest places to eat were.
There is a front desk where you can buy tickets or book the shuttle to Universal, Seaworld and Wet 'n' Wild (which is only 5 mins from the hotel). There was no shuttle service to the Disney Parks and what they will try and do is get you to book their own hotel taxi service - all I can say is, if money is no issue then book it as they drop you off and pick u up so is very convenient, but like us if you're on a budget DONT DO IT!!!!!! We fell in the trap and were charged $144 for 4 days (which you have to take in a row so we couldn't spread the parks out - with a 4yr old child it was very tiring). If you ask them they will say the only way to the parks is by taxi - this is NOT true. The I-Ride trolley runs from right outside the hotel and costs $1.25 per adult per trip regardless of how far you want to go - children under 12 travel free with a paying adult (you can also get 5-day, 7-Day passes from the Vistors Centre which is across the road from the Hotel - but beware as they will also try and sell you Timeshares!!!). You can get this trolley to a stop just before SeaWorld, tell the driver when you get on you want to get the Lynx Bus number 50 to Magic Kingdom Disney Park and they will tell you where to get off - you simply cross the road and hop on the Number 50 bus which will take you to the Transport and Ticket Centre at Magic Kingdom. The bus runs every 30mins so make sure you check the times, and on Sunday they run every hour. The hotel offers free WiFi so if you have an iPhone or laptop check the golynx.com website for times.
From Magic Kingdom you can get further Disney buses (which are free) to Animal Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios and Downtown Disney - you can only get these buses from Magic Kingdom, so each day you will need to start at Magic Kingdom.
Also to save on money and make full use of the fridge and microwave we shopped at Wal-Mart (American ASDA) for items to make sandwiches, breakfast cereal, drinks etc - DO NOT buy groceries from the I-Drive shops as they cost over 100% more. We asked one shop keeper where the local Wal-Mart was and she told us there wasn't one. We decided to check on the internet and were shocked to see that there were 2 nearby - 1 is in walking distance but if you intend to purchase a fair bit then take a taxi (but not the hotel taxi as we were charged over $60 for 2 trips - there is a yellow pages in the room so it's best you phone for one yourself). We purchased all our Disney gifts from Wal-Mart as they were so much cheaper - and they had everything, staff were very helpful. As you will prob find out Americans love their fizzy drinks and Juices, we wanted to get some squash for our son - they dont have squash and we got a few puzzled looks when we asked where it was. Luckily there is an aisle in the international foods section, where you can get well known English brands, although they are a bit pricey - we paid $5 for a bottle of Robinsons Squash.
For shopping I would suggest you only visit the 2 Premium Outlet Stores which are on either end of I-Drive. They have shops such as DKNY, Gap, Lacoste, Burberry, Nike, Ralph Lauren, Ed Hardy, Guess etc at great prices. We visited Festival Bay Mall but it is very pricey and only spent time in M&M World!!! so avoid if you're after bargains.
There are plenty of places to eat around Rosen Inn- from McDonalds, Burger King and Pizza Hut to Perkins, iHop and Ponderosa (which did great buffet breakfasts at $3.99 per adult and Kids eat free with the 'Kids Eat Free' card - the only snag was that each adult had to purchase a drink, otherwise they charged $4.99 which we thought was a bit of a scam as drinks in most restaurants were refills and 2 adults could easily manage with 1 soda).
