“Great Stay”
Reviewed June 17, 2014

I surprised my son and granddaughter with a stay at the Poly after our cruise on the Disney Fantasy. This was our first stay at the Poly. We stayed club level and had a great time. The room was spacious and housekeeping did an excellent job everyday. We spent from opening to closing in the parks and did not get to swim or participate in any other of the daily activities. We did eat at Kona and Ohana and as always the food was terrific. The ongoing construction did not bother us at all. We did not hear any construction noise. We are looking forward to our next trip when we can see the results of all of the construction taking place now.
Lots of transportation options to the parks, buses, monorail, and boats. The staff from check-in to when we left were very helpful and pleasant.

We truely enjoyed our family vacation at the Polynesian. There was some construction and pool was awesome. Glad we were able to vacation there before all the changes took place. Stayed club level and loved the food selections and friendly staff. Room was clean and received towel animals some nights. Best types of transportation offered in the park.

Stayed at the poly week of Memorial Day and absolutely loved it! Clean, so many fun activities for the kids ( movies on the beach, pool parties, roasting marshmallows), awesome pool and view of magic kingdom, convenience of monorail and other transportation! It was perfect but they are under construction now so wait till march of 2015! WORTH EVERY PENNY!

Big trip for family to Disney this year, and we decided to stay at the Polynesian since it had immediate access to the monorail. We were VERY pleased with every aspect of the resort, with the exception of the construction taking place. During our last trip we stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and found the rooms to be too small for an average size family. This was really not the case at the Polynesian. We were in Tuvalu and our room was a nice size, modest decoration in terms of Disney, and very comfortable. Unbeknownst to us, there is construction occurring. To their defense, the construction inside the Great Ceremonial House is done (for the most part) overnight, so there is not that much of a distraction during the day. We did see some workers off in the distance working on the over-the-water rooms. And on our check-out day, there were several painting and stenciling the temporary walls. It really didn't take away too much from the overall experience, however.

The swimming pool was great, especially the volcano slide. It was smaller than I expected, which was nice b/c we could sit in one spot and observe the entire pool area! Kids were able to go freely and have a great time! The resort even had ongoing activities for the children poolside.

The mere fact that the monorail arrives every few minutes for the Magic Kingdom AND your are just a short walk from the monorail that takes you to Epcot, this resort is probably the most convenient for the price (when compared to the Contemporary and Grand Floridian)! We will definitely stay here again and recommend it highly to everyone else.

Room Tip: Tuvalu is a great building, if you can get second or third floor facing water. These floors have li...

We recently visited Disney's Polynesian Resort with family. We hadn't been to that particular Disney Resort for many years, and we were quite frankly very disappointed. The construction had a huge impact on the atmosphere as much of the Great Ceremonial House (main lobby) was blocked off as was some of the beach, walkways and parking area. The "Cast Members" seemed "on edge" and were unfriendly and not particularly helpful. The room was dated, worn and in need of renovation. The restaurants were overcrowded and noisy and some of the servers were rude and did not perform well in their jobs.
Maybe it will regain its former status as a "deluxe resort" once the construction is finished, but I would not recommend it at this point and I doubt that I will return.

Room Tip: I always recommend a Magic Kingdom view on the third floor

Just returned from a girls only trip with my sister and nieces. Great time! Hotel is under major construction, which didn't interfere with any of our plans however we didnt really get to see the natural beaty of the resort. Only once did I hear the workers, but it was during the day and outside far enough away that we didnt hear it by the pool or in the room. My sister was worried, but overall the construction wasnt a bother to us at all. There is big green fencing up pretty much all over the outside so you cant really see much of the plants or flowers and it did get a little confusing on which way to go if we weren't paying attn to the signs.
Overall, the resort is within walking distance to the transportation center (a long walk) and our room was really close to the monorail. I think in a few years the resort will be beautiful, but until then expect to see a lot of fencing, and baracades. Ohana restaurant is DELISH!!!!!!!!

First, let me say I love visiting Disney World. My family has visited 6 times in the past 11 years, with children ranging in age from 10 months to 11 years old. We have stayed at the Polynesian on 3 of the trips. We love the resort and its proximity to the Magic Kingdom. We just got home from a week long trip where we stayed at the Polynesian. We stayed in a Club Level room on this trip and the service and amenities available were top notch. Our children loved the pool and the lounge in the Hawaii building (Club Level Building). However, the Great Ceremonial House (main building with shopping, food and monorail access) is under massive renovations. The 24 hour quick service restaurant is under renovations and is currently tucked up under the stairs in the lobby. There is no arcade. There was no Neverland Club. They are closing the main pool (where my children spent hours each day) this month so it can undergo massive renovations. They are building new huts on the water (Bora Bora style) so there are cranes and construction. I love this hotel and it is beyond me why they would undergo such major renovations all at once. I would stay here again in the future, once ALL of the renovations are finished. If you are going to Disney this year, stay at a different resort. We had a wonderful visit, and as always the cast members were wonderful and we had a great trip. However, had I fully understood the extent of the renovations (they do not cover all of this in the letter they send you to inform you of any closings) we would have stayed at the Contemporary or Grand Floridian.

Room Tip: First floor rooms have a patio and third floor rooms have a balcony. Second floor rooms have neither...
