“Location location location”
Reviewed September 22, 2013

The only reason I am giving this 4 stars instead of 3 is due to the location. We just got back from a 5 night stay (September 16-21) and the location of the resort makes it a great place to stay, especially with kids who might need a break from the MK or Epcot during the day. The grounds are lovely and the pool is nice as well. Evening activities such as marshmallow roasting and movies on the beach are a nice treat.
Now onto the negatives.....the rooms are dark and not as clean as $100 per night hotel rooms would be, the hallways are dirty, the automatic doors to exit our longhouse (Rapa Nui) did not work and remained open for what seemed to be most of the day. Luckily no animals, etc seemed to make it inside. It also seemed to be a safety issue. When it was mentioned to hotel personnel, we were told a work order had been put in a few days beforehand. There was no exhaust fan in the bathroom and some of the outlets did not work. The only reason this hotel is $400 a night is because of the location, the rooms/upkeep are not as nice as a Motel 6. That being said, since we have small children, we will likely stay there again because of its convenient location.

We stayed at the Polynesian resort at the end of July/start of August in 2013. My wife and son loved it. There is a beach, pool and of course the park. What more can anyone ask for? We've been there before: The Grand Floridian was great, as was the Wilderness Lodge. I liked both of the other two hotels better, but I cannot argue with my family...and it's always fun.

Staying at the Polynesian is a realo treat. The convenience of getting to all of the parks, the awesome nighttime activities on property, the service, the rooms .... all of it make for a magical experience. We stayed on the Club Level and really enjoyed the extra convenience of being able to grab breakfast in the morning without waiting.

The Polynesian is just simply a relaxing wonderful oasis in the heart of the Magic Kingdom area. With both monorail and boat service directly to the front of the Magic Kingdom.

We stayed in the building across from Fiji (Sorry, I can't spell or pronounce the name), in Room 2212. My daughter is a cast member with Disney so our room was relatively inexpensive for the week (the perks of being a cast member)! Our room faced the monorail, however, we never heard it go by but sometimes we would catch the site of it and it was a nice way to remember how close you were to Magic Kingdom.

The room was wonderful.

ROOM -- What I liked:
Room was quiet
Comfy beds
More than 2 pillows if needed and blankets
Iron and ironing board, Hair dryer
Great cleaning service
Coffee machine in room
Refrigerator in room
Wall mounted large tv
Plenty of draws and storage for your clothes
Closet space w/lights
Wonderful décor
Great shower
Free wifi in rooms and on grounds

Grounds -- What I liked:
Luscious grounds like a tropical paradise
Wonderful pool area w/beach and plenty of chairs/tables & umbrellas
Wonderful pool to cool off in, w/slide
Fire pit where they roast marshmallows
Tropical great hall building short walk from each building
Close walk to ticket & transportation center
Close walk to Grand Floridian
3 Places to eat... Ohana's (all you can eat family style buffet), Capt. Jack’s quick service, and Kona Café
Gift shop on the first floor features many tropical clothes etc.
Gift shop on the 2nd floor
A store where you can purchase paintings, etc., on the first floor as well.

What I didn't like
Although I didn't NOT like it, Capt. Jacks the quick service was somewhat small with limited selections. However, the Grand Floridian is a short walk where their quick service has more selections like "make it you own way pasta"

You must eat at Kona Café. Ohana's is the all you can eat buffet family style upstairs and they dim the lights when the fireworks go off at Cinderella’s castle.

I took my husband and son here and wouldn't stay anywhere else! I have stayed there well over 25 times since the 1980s. It has changed over the years, but there is still something magical about it. The staff are always super friendly, our room was clean and well taken care of when we were there. Even the smell : it reminds me of the tropics. The convenience of the Polynesian just cant be beat, especially with the monorail steps away.

To be fair though; the fireworks are loud from the Magic Kingdom, especially if you go to bed early. O'Hanas is always busy with lots of people waiting to eat.

My wife and I had the ultimate pleasure of staying at the Polynesian Resort in July 2013 for one night prior to flying out of Orlando for our anniversary trip. We were already fascinated by the beauty of the hotel when visiting WDW and wanted to experience a stay there.

We were fortunate to stay in the One Bedroom Club Level Suite overlooking both the marina and Magic Kingdom. The room was absolutely amazing, with a balcony stretching the entire length of living room and bedroom. The room was in immaculate condition and felt like home.

I cannot wait to stay there again...albeit longer than one night!

Room Tip: Club Level!

MY friend and I stayed at the Poly for 8 nights at the end of August this year and it was seriously one of the best vacations I have ever had. The resort is beautiful, you really feel like you are away from it all while at the same time being right next door to everything you need. You can't beat staying right on the monorail line and only a boat away from the Magic Kingdom. The pools were nice although it would have been better if other guests respected the QUIET pool and took their kids to the main pool to be loud.
All the staff we dealt with were eager to help us in any way and the grounds and room were well maintained.
I won't stay anywhere else when I stay on property from now on. It's Poly or nothing for me.
