“Good hotel for the $”

Recently stayed at the Caribbean Beach Resort March 16-23, 2014. Last time we were there in 2003 the resort was still somewhat new, I was a little worried about the age of the resort upon booking. For the price it was not bad at all. Rooms are not huge but we have stayed in smaller. We are a family of 3 and had enough room to spread out and relax. I would advise to request a room near the bus stop! We stayed in Jamaica building 47, it was close to the bus stop and pool, we did have to walk a little to get to the main building but it was a nice walk across castaway cay island. Also Jamaica is usually the first stop once into the resort, great when the bus is busy on the way back, and when you wanna have a seat on the way to the parks.

My family has annual passes so we go to disney often. We have stayed at all of the lower price and most of the moderate priced disney resort hotels. This was our first time at carribean beach resort. The first thing I want to mention is how impressed I was with the customer service. My daughter got sick on our last night there and we had to make the decision to go home early. We were set to check out the next morning and went to the check out desk at 8:00pm which was well after the 12pm check out time and they actually gave us a credit back on our credit card for the entire day since our daughter was sick. This may be a disney wide policy but either way it meant a lot. Now to the resort. We fully enjoyed our 4 days here. I was skeptical about spending any time on the beaches(large areas of sand along the big lake in the middle of the resort). You would not want to go in the water. But the sand was clean and the hammocks were very relaxing at night it was very peaceful too. The central pool was a lot of fun and my newly turned 4yo daughter loved the kids water playground area with kid sized water slides and fountains. We stayed in the Aruba area and although a further walk to the main buildings it was very quiet! The only cons I can think of for this resort would be the bathroom was very small, common for disney hotels I have found and easy to deal with, but I pretty much had to step into the shower to open the door to get out. Another con would just be how big area wise the resort is, if you get a room on the outskirts it is a LONG walk to get to the main pool and restaurants. The last con would be how long it takes for the resort busses to get to and from the parks. for some reason the bus ride feels like it takes forever compared to other resorts.

Stayed at hotel for 3 nights. Room was fine, nothing extravagant, but was clean and all we wanted was a place to sleep, since it was a short trip, we were spending a majority of our time at the parks. As always staff was friendly, and we called the front desk once for towels, and they were delivered in no time. Would stay again, but will most likely try another resort next time, just to check each one out.

I visited Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort for 8 nights from 22nd March 2014 with my sister from the UK and we have no real complaints!
Check In - We arrived at about 7pm and there was no queue for check in, the process was quick and simple and we were given our personalised magic bands and celebration pin badges. The only complaint about check in is that it is in a completely separate building and far away from everything else - not really an issue but seemed a little odd! As the resort is extremely large, bell services take you and your luggage to your rooms in a mini van which was a life saver, however those that complain that the resort is too large are a little silly as it is made very clear online etc to expect this!
The Room - We were in the Martinique section in building 23, room number 2360 and we have no complaints what so ever. The room was the same size as the other Disney Moderate resort room I have stayed in at Port Orleans Riverside and was of a very similar layout with two queen beds, a table and chairs, draw unit with good size fridge and a large flat screen TV. The bathroom area was separated with a privacy curtain and had two sinks and the toilet and bath/ shower were in the separate room. The shower was not particularly powerful (didn't expect it to be) but was always warm. The air con was fine and we also had a celling fan. We both found the beds to be extremely comfortable and very soft we got very good nights sleep on them.People have reported about a wet musky smell in the rooms but I can hand on heart say we did not experience this. People have also mentioned about the walls being paper thin, again we had no issues with this - we could hear people walking past our rooms early in the morning but no more that any other hotel I have ever stayed it.
The Main Building (Old Port Royal) - This building contained a well stocked gift shop, arcade, guest services, food court and table service restaurant. The main pool was also located at the building. We found everything we needed.
The Food - We had the Quick Service Dinning Plan and ate at the food court most mornings and some evenings. We found the food to be as expected from a quick service food court. The food and service was of a good quality for a food court. We had Mickey Waffles for breakfast - almost every day! They had pizza, pasta, burgers, sandwiches, grilled meets, salad, pastries, fruit, cakes etc etc. We did not use the table service restaurant (Shutters) as it was not to our taste.
The Pool - We used the main pool on one occasion and found it to be pleasant, there are two slides, and kids water paly area and the zero entry pool. Plenty of sun beds and a pool bar selling all the usual's plus some great looking/ tasting cocktails (and mocktails).
The Service - Over all we found all staff on Disney property to be friendly and helpful with the exception of one lady working in the food court one breakfast as she told my sister off for ordering her Mickey Waffle incorrectly!
Other - The play a Disney movie every night (weather permitting) outside which is nice. They also have a camp fire on the beach where you can toast as many marshmallows as you like! The Disney transport buses were great and although we only used them on two days as we hired a car we did find them useful. Personally we felt that as we only had 7 days and wanted to fit so much in to our short trip, waiting for buses was simply taking up to much time.
The Pros - Clean pretty resort in a good location close to EPCOT, Hollywood Studios and Typhoon Lagoon.
The Cons - Yes it is big - but surely you know this before you book it and they have internal buses or do what we did and drive to breakfast lol.
My only real niggle during my stay wasn't so much with the resort but more with another resort - we went to the new Art of Animation Resort one evening to check it out as we would like to stay there if we return in the future, while we were there we had some dinner in the food court and were really impressed! The quality and variety of the food on offer at this new 'Value' resort was much much better than our 'Moderate' resort. Also they served the food on china plates with proper knifes and folks as apposed to the paper plates and plastic cutlery we had at Caribbean beach. Again this is not a dig at what was on offer at our resort but seems a little off that it is so much better at a supposedly lower rated resort even if it is new - this cheesed us off a little.
I would recommend this resort to someone else, however I am not sure I would return myself simply because Disney has so many great looking properties to experience and explore.

Room Tip: I would not want a room on the opposite side of the lake to the main building as this would mean a l...

So disappointed with this resort. Value resorts are so much better. The room was very dated. The toilet in our room was overflowing from the bottom and took 3 maintenance crew to fix, but I requested a room change and was giving it quickly. It didn't matter because in the second room, the tile was coming off the floor, the bathroom door was broken and it wasn't clean. Hair everywhere on the bathroom floor, gross. For the amount of money you pay for this resort, it's a shame because it is not worth it. Food is horrible everywhere, even going outside the resort, it's bad! Over a hour for IHOP, really? Internet is a joke, kept dropping, probably filtering, but still, I couldn't even get a reception on my cell phone in the room. On another note my whole family got sick, norovirus perhaps. Even having wipes and washing our hands a million times, we still got sick. Traveler beware, Disney is fun for the kids, but it's lost its charm by being overpriced, dirty and just too many people. Will probably come back because the kids loved it, but definitely at another resort.

This was our 2nd time staying at Carribean Beach in late March 2014.
First time in 2012 was a good experience...but our latest experience was awful.
All around our hotel room was sports teams...and out of 6 nights that we stayed on site we had to call the front desk/security 4 of those nights because of rowdy behaviour, doors slamming, yelling, and swearing. Not sure Walt Disney would have really approved of hearing the F bomb continually.
No one ever contacted us to see how we were doing or to check to see if the noise level improved. Why is Disney placing families in the same location as sports teams??
Two out of four of us came home sick and I am quite certain it was because of a lack of proper rest and constant interrupted sleep.
Still waiting to hear back from their management.
Hopefully this will help another family prior to booking.

This is the 8th Disney resort at which we have stayed (1st since joining Tripadvisor). I wouldn't call it a luxury resort or anything like that. However, it was a clean, pleasant place to stay. The food in the food court is dreadful. Even my 16 year old son, who will eat anything, was unimpressed. If you are traveling with kids, they will love the "drive-in" style movies by the pool.
