This is a nice location for a non-park hotel/resort. The buildings are very numerous and spread though out a spacious property. The rooms are very average. The staff was extremely helpful at check-in and patient as 3 couples checked in together and had to sort out room situations that were not together as requested. They did a fantastic job in true Disney fashion and had us on our way very quickly. The food selection at the restaurant onsite was terrific and there was plenty of space for the crowds. The bus stops within the resort are numerous and dropped us very close to our rooms. I would definitely choose this location again when traveling to Disney World!

I love Disney. So I will note all the good first: I loved the Pirate Themed Rooms [they really captured it all here]; decent size room [for Disney standards]; really amazing main pool area; lovely grounds; wonderful places to go and relax for a bit [hammocks on white sand beaches]; great recreation options [pool party/s'mores & campfire songs/outdoor movies/nature & jogging trails/bike & boat rentals]; location was convenient as it is an "Epcot" resort and was close to all parks & Downtown Disney, although it should be noted that we had a vehicle
The areas where I think should be considered: Size-this is a HUGE resort [2,100 Rooms translates to somewhere between 5,0000 to 10,000 people at any given time. The dining options are not adequate for this amount of people in the morning during the busy time. Location of Room: The resort is made up of several "villages" throughout the property. Depending on where your room is, it can take some additional efforts to get to the main area of the resort. Pirate Themed Rooms are furthest from the central area of the resort. That translated to about a 10 minute walk to get a mug refill, snack/meal, or access the bar/store. There is an "internal bus" but you could wait ten minutes for the bus or walk. We walked. If you have difficulty with stairs, be sure to request a bottom floor room, as there are no elevators. Transportation: Unlike the other "moderate" resorts, the only transportation option was the bus. [We rented a car and were VERY glad we did.] The several times we rode the buses, they were crowded and this resort has several bus stops which bring you closer to your room, but the time on the bus was LONG. Room type: We paid for an upgraded PIRATE THEMED ROOM-WATER VIEW. In short, we LOVED the themed room but it had its drawbacks. You are far away from the central area of the resort. Paying for a "water view" is not worth it. Ours was obstructed and did not have the in room refrigerator. In short, I felt that this theming should be a standard feature of this resort as we felt like we had to compromise on other aspects of staying.
AREAS TO IMPROVE-Hopefully Disney reads this....1) HAVE BEVERAGE FILLING STATIONS/COFFEE AT EACH OF THE "VILLAGE POOLS" 2) HAVE A SNACK BAR AT EACH OF THE VILLAGE POOLS SO THAT YOU DON'T NEED TO GO TO THE MAIN FOOD COURT FOR THE "GRAB AND GO" ITEMS 3) HAVE WAITRESS SERVICE AT THE POOL BAR 4) PIRATE ROOMS SHOULD BE STANDARD 5) HAVE REFRIGERATORS IN ALL ROOMS
I rated this "Average" as I did not feel that it met the criteria for a "Very Good" Disney Resort.

Room Tip: First floor if you have a stroller or handicap as there are no elevators. Don't waste money on...

First off we stayed last year at a value resort Art of Animation. I will never do that walk again. We upgraded to a preferred room Trinidad North it was close to the food court, pool, short walk to the playground and less then a 5 min walk to the bus stop.
We found if you were at the bus stops first thing in the A.M before the parks opened no problem getting a bus. If you waited later good luck we waited a bit and the buses were full. Going home from the parks Trying to hold a stroller a purse and a sleeping child and standing up on a bus seems like an accident waiting to happen to me. The staff was very helpful, friendly, and we really enjoyed our stay except the bus situation. I would visit this property again.

-We stayed here the week of Halloween in a pirates themed room (room 3745) in Trinidad South. The kids (ages 2 and 4) liked the pirate theme of the room, but other than that it was a pretty standard room. 2 beds, 2 sinks, a toilet, and a tub. At the time we were there apparently there were refrigerator issues so we didn't get one. That was annoying. That meant we couldn't keep any milk or anything for the kids in the room. Although the empty space in the barrel the kids thought it was a cool place to store their treasures.

-The resort it self was nice. Each area has its own "quiet" pool, and then there is a large pool in the center, Old port Royale, with a kiddie section. There were various sections of "beaches" but you weren't allowed in the water. The large pool is nice because it has a walk in section, which the kids really enjoyed. They didn't really like the kiddie section due to the water constantly being sprayed or splashed down on their head.

-The food at Old Port Royale was actually really good. Though it was "quick service" you could find really good food.

Overall it was not bad, however we probably will not stay here again as there are so many other resorts to try. If you are looking for somewhere that is quiet and low key then this is the place for you. My only advice is to be careful what "area" you room is in. To me Old Port Royale or Jamica would be best, due to buses and distance to the pool/food court.

Checking out today, and we have had a fantastic stay. Rooms always cleaned by maid service. No towel animals like at POR when we have stayed but that is okay. Yes the room could use a little TLC and a deep cleaning but all in all still a good resort. The pool (main area) is awesome and has two water slides. There is a water play area for kids, and playgrounds at the main area and at two of the cluster of buildings. Wish we could have spent more time but had a busy 5 days at the park. I would stay here again.

I stayed at this hotel for the RunDisney Wine and Dine Half Marathon. After I checked into the hotel, we found mold all around the base of the toilet and in the shower. It was disgusting! We were told that there was no other available room but they could come the next day to take care of it. They came and replaced all of the caulking in the bathroom. The room stunk for our entire stay. This was very disappointing for a Disney hotel. I have stayed at other Disney hotels, both cheaper and more expensive, and have never found the quality of the hotel and the hospitality of the staff to be so poor.
The positives: The pirate pool was pretty cool and the hotel store had items that the park stores were sold out of.

we recently stayed at the Caribbean beach resort and it was a great experience for my girlfriend who had never stayed at a moderate but has now and really liked it and now prefers them over the value .we were in the Martinique section so we had a short walk to food court as well as the bus stop .the resort staff was great when asking for stuff and came through with the room request I asked for and I was able to go to my room when we arrived .buses ran every 15-20 minutes .the food court was good and had a lot of options for everyone even gluten free food for people with that issue .the resort could use some updates to be like port Orleans French quarters but if they update the rooms and beds that would be the great as they nemo boarders but old port royale is after pirates so what is this resort as nemo is arts of animation as well .we would recommend this to familys with kids or for just grown ups
