The rooms are well enough appointed but getting worn out looking. My bathroom was to the point of showing its age with a ceiling that was beginning to bubble. As other reviewers said the 16.95 resort fee stated and explained upon check-in was for internet fee, newspaper, access to pools, towel service etc. For 11.00 per day you could get the wireless alone. Well lo and behold everything except the wireless was already available so therefore the only REAL deal was access to the spa and then you still had to pay for the usual treatments. The Outback restaurant (not the CHAIN OUTBACK) was pretty decent and the restaurant/cafe was good as well but the portions were on the small side.

Room Tip: Ask for pool side for the view and depending on the location you can see the fireworks at various pa...

We stayed at the Buena Vista Palace for a 2 week holiday.
The room was very nice and very spacey, with comfy bed and clean sheets, frequently changed and a nice clean bathroom.
The hotel is located just across a duel carriageway road, (which is easy to cross) from Downtown Disney, which meant we could leave the car at the hotel go eat and have a drink without having to drive.
The hotel staff were all very nice and helpful, which was fortunate as we were locked out of our room 4 times, due to key card or lock malfunctions.
Eating in the hotel seemed expensive. On the first day we went down for breakfast only to find it was $24.99 each. Quick U Turn and we never went back!
Be aware that the hotel will want to charge you $16.95 a day for a "conveniently bundled price of assorted Guest Services" . Things like the "free" paper in the lobby, self parking your own car, the coffee and tea in your room, the fridge, the pool etc. Things I thought were incentives to actually entice you to stay there. Silly Me!
We didn`t have to pay the above as we were on a package holiday, (or it was already rolled up in our total cost?).
Anyway, pricey extras aside, the hotel was very good and we would stay again.

Room Tip: Rooms to avoid- Number 67 on any floor. Its on the landing between the lifts and next to the Ice mak...

The facilities are clean, modern, and comfy. The kiddie pool is is ice cold and the main pool are ice cold, heaters are broken. There is a nice jacuzzi and lap pool that are warmed, but not appropriate for my kids.
THE PRICES ARE CRIMINAL, I've been all over the world and never saw this. Today pre-breakfast was Self service $14.12, Medium coffee $3.76, Whole Grain Croissant x 2 $3.50 each, a Muffin $2.50. TOTAL. $14.12
A liter of water is about $6.
There is really no indication that you are near Disney except the gift shop.
I'm only half way thru my stay. I'll update later.

Overall Buena Vista Palace is a solid resort. Very modern and clean, well appointed rooms, and friendly staff. Great location right across the street from Downtown Disney, cross the street and you are there. The Outback restaurant at the resort was very good, highly recommended. One thing to be aware of, the resort advertises heated pools. There are no heated pools at this resort. They have two hot tubs that are heated, but that is it. I mentioned this to the front desk staff and they told me the lap pool is the only heated pool. I tried to swim in the lap pool but it too was cold. The resort should not advertise heated pools when they don't have any. Also, note that the resort charges a daily resort fee they will add on to your account. It is $16.95 per day and they state that it covers the wireless Internet, access to the pools and exercise room, parking, and a couple of other miscellaneous items. I guess they will make extra money any way they can. Next time I travel to Orlando in the winter, I will stay at a hotel with useable heated pools. But overall the Buena Vista palace is a nice resort with a great location.

Room Tip: Disney view is always nice if you like to watch the fireworks from your room.

The lobby is Ok, but the rooms are gross. Stained Sheets etc. I will let the photo's do the taking. The first room was even worse. This hotel is very old and it shows. there is no pride of ownership here quite the opposite. I was told the first room was an isolated event but the second room was just as dirty. Even the phones are gross, do don't want to pick up the receiver.

I have stayed in cleaner hotels in India!

Stayed at this hotel on a conference in November, half the plug ins in my room didn't work, spoke with a guy who had been there 2 days prior to our conference starting there who said everything was quite a bit cheaper in price until the conference started, then the hotel inflated all the prices of everything. They charged a resort fee for the wifi which barely worked and you had to input the pass code every couple of hours, which was very frustrating. Several other people from our conference actually checked out of the hotel half way through the conference due to the poor service and the smell of sewage in some of the rooms. Management refused to reduce rate when people complained, and lots of people found cheaper hotels in the area that were much nicer, so they left. They restaurant in the hotel was horrible and over priced.

We stayed at the Buena Vista Palace in October/November 2012. The hotel unfortunately does not compare favourably to other hotels in the area. We were located in an “island suite” away from the main hotel, which was isolating, especially at night. That part of the hotel is readily accessible from outside so I would imagine security is a concern, as it is possible for anyone to walk into the island suite building without detection.

It is difficult to describe the rooms we had as a suite, and as previous reviewers have said, the beds are located in one room which means that families share that room for sleeping – a much better solution would have been to have beds in separate rooms. The room arrangement means that there is one main bathroom and an additional toilet which is useful for families. The shower itself was good, with excellent water pressure and the water stayed at an even temperature throughout. The hairdryer was also good. However, there were some areas of the bathrooms that needed attention in terms of décor and cleanliness. Room cleaning was done daily but not to a high standard, indeed our carpet wasn’t vacuumed during our stay. Balconies were small and again, grubby. The room was dim and dingy and the tinted balcony windows meant that there was a lack of natural light in the room. Our room phone did not work for most of our stay at the hotel.

In the main area of the hotel there was a pervading smell of mould/mildew and the general décor was dated. The mini market in the hotel was good and the staff always pleasant, but eye wateringly expensive (over $6 for a bottle of water). We ate in the Watercress restaurant at the breakfast buffet on one occasion and the experience was poor for the price paid – the selection wasn’t particularly varied and the bill was calculated incorrectly. We also ate in the Sports Bar which was ok, but again the décor was dim and dingy, but the service was good and the food adequate.

The grounds of the hotel were very well kept. The pool area was small but fine for our needs – once again the general décor and upkeep of the area/buildings needed attention. Whenever there was an evening event at the smaller pool, the beds were taken away early in the morning and tables laid out, which meant that you were prevented from sitting around the small pool even though the event was not happening until the evening – perhaps the beds could have been left there for use until late afternoon? Pool toys are available at an extra (expensive!) cost and there is a tennis court – however, on asking at the pool hut, it transpired that there are no tennis racquets or balls. There is little point in advertising these facilities if the hotel do not have the equipment required to use them.

Staff at the hotel were very good – polite, friendly and willing to help. In particular, the hotel concierge (Rachel) was excellent; informative and knowledgeable.

The most concerning experience was the fire alarm going off in the early hours of the morning. There is a previous review which documents exactly the problems we encountered and this incident left us most concerned for our safety in the event of a serious incident. After the fire alarm went off, there was no roll call, no attempt by management to ensure guests were all out of their rooms (they weren’t) and no communication whatsoever from management to guests to either reassure them, or to keep them informed as to what was happening. There were several hotel staff rushing in and out of the building, absolutely clueless as to what was going on. It was, quite simply, chaos. After approximately an hour, guests decided to return to their rooms – they had not been informed as to whether or not they could go back. There was no visible management presence whatsoever during, or after the incident and no attempt to apologise or explain to guests. This was a real concern for guest safety and it was this incident alone which guarantees that we will never stay at the Buena Vista Palace again.

In conclusion, I can corroborate all of the points raised by previous reviewers – mouldy smell, dated, long queues at check in, expensive mini market, poor quality restaurants and poor standard of cleaning within the rooms. There is a concern about guest safety and security. The location of the hotel is excellent but there are better hotels in the same vicinity. When compared with other hotels in the area, the hotel is definitely below average and most certainly not a “luxury hotel” experience.
