I was at the Buena Vista Palace hotel with a friend who was participating in an event. I had nothing to do but relax and I thought I might use the Spa. Then I read the fine print. A 20% service charge is added to each spa service and this does NOT include the gratuity. So what is it? Simply a way to charge more and hope the customer doesn't notice! I passed on using the Spa on principle.
Otherwise, the room was nice and large, the bed was comfortable and it was quiet. Meal options are somewhat limited. There is an "Outback" steak house which is NOT related to the chain. Food is fair but service is spotty. There is also a small market with sandwiches, salads, and sweet rolls etc and an adjacent dining area that serves a $10 breakfast buffet for $19. The sports bar has a very limited menu but is probably the best value. Parking is a very long walk when an event is in progress.
This could be a very nice hotel except for the few mentioned problems. The service charge is a deal breaker for me--and I really wanted a massage.More
