We stayed here over the 2010 Thanksgiving Holiday week. It's your typical new Florida hotel with a huge courtyard in the middle and the rooms surround it. Some of the rooms have balconies that overlook the courtyard. The courtyard has some restaurants and huge areas for conventions, etc. We stayed on the 9th floor, front of the hotel, overlooking Sea World. We picked this hotel due to its proximity to Sea World. While you can walk right across the street to Sea World, we had to drive to Discovery Cove and Aquatica where we spent most of our time. Unfortunately, this hotel is not near Disney and there is no shuttle from the hotel. It's about 20 minutes to Downtown Disney from this location.

When you first drive up, it's somewhat confusing. The self parking lot has a gate and you can't get in without a key. There are daily charges to park there also. So, you're forced to valet park in front which also costs money. When we walked in, you are greeted immediately and helped. The front desk was awesome and made check-in a breeze. Since we were Marriott Rewards members, we were offered a package of free valet parking, internet and breakfast for a slight additional charge. This was great while we were there, but turned into a checkout nightmare when we were charged for these services instead of being credited. Technically, we weren't supposed to get this package (we were a day early) so there was some disagreement on the charges. Eventually, they credited everything. But if we didn't have this package, there would have been alot of extra charges at check out which totally inflates the actual cost to stay here.

The hotel itself is either new or newly renovated. Everything is clean and trendy. The rooms are your typical Mariott: roomy, big beds with lots of pillows, a nice flat screen TV and a desk area to do work or work on your laptop. The Internet is not free in the rooms. When we were there is was $15 a day. Not sure why Fairfield Inns offer free internet access but these upscale Mariotts do not. In the public areas, there is some free Wi-Fi, but it's quite slow. The rooms are excellent. They are clean and updated including the bathroom, all renovate. We didn't hear any noise from guests next to us or above us. The sleep experience was excellent especially when you're walking around all day at the Parks and you're tired. The pool out back is really nice. Alot of seating, a pool bar, towels, etc. There are outdoor fireplaces in use at night. It's a big hotel with alot of space. You can see that they must have conventions and/or business meetings. When we were there, it didn't feel packed with people especially during the day when everyone is out at the Parks.

In the Courtyard, there are several restaurants/bars, a Starbucks and a gift store. We ate at the TradeWinds breakfast buffet which was pretty good each day. The service was excellent and the food selection adequate. We ate there because it was part of the package but it is somewhat expensive for breakfast if we had to outright pay for it. But, you could definitely eat a big breakfast here instead of the Parks and save time. We also ate at the Boardwalk Bar the first night because of a late check in. It's your typical sports bar/pub food. The food was fine and has alot of TVs.

Overall, this is a really nice, clean updated hotel and a perfect location if your vacation includes Sea World. It was kid friendly and perfect for families. It's very quiet for a good night sleep. The downsides are that it's not close to Disney and no shuttle, there seems to be quite a few additional incidental charges and the Florida taxes that are tacked on every day, you have to pay for parking and the Internet is not free.

If you're going to Sea World you can't beat the location. They have a shuttle but we just walked across the street to enter the park. The beds are VERY comfortable and I slept like a baby!

Maybe it was because we stayed at a budget Disney resort and were on a cruise prior to going here, but everything was SO BIG: the room, the beds, the bathroom, the huge center court, the pool and two jacuzzis. I'm probably too energy conscience, but I kept thinking about the cost to cool all of the space in Orlando!

The pool by the way is gorgeous. Unfortunately there were a lot of kids that kept splashing in the jacuzzis so it was hard to be romantic with kids diving and jumping in next to you late in the evening. The pool was not heated so I guess the kids were too cold to swim there - still, why were little kids at a pool this late at night?

One other comment: There is no free shuttle to/from the airport which I thought was odd for such a gorgeous resort. I had to make my own arangements and pay extra for them.

I stayed here for a week. I was very dissappointed in the front desk staff, they were not a friendly bunch of people. The rooms are very dated. The beds are dilapitated and are in need of replacing. The water smells like sulphur and makes taking a shower unpleasant. The Breakfast buffet is $21 a person and no egg is worth that much especially when there are so many higher quality eating establishments within walking distance. Also they charge $15 for wireless service and $15 dollars for parking, who in this day and age still chrge for wireless and feel like they are doing you a favor. The resort is not downtown so why would they charge for parking? There are 2 Hilton properties adjacent to this one for a better rate and free wireless and parking. I will definitely stay at one of them on my next visit. The high points are the pool and fitness center. They are building a water park and a lot of the parking lot has been blocked.

This is a very impressive hotel. Beautiful grounds, excellent service. Staff was very helpful to offer suggestions on dining and tours available at the various parks. We were greeted with a cool glass of champagne upon entering for check-in - very thoughtful touch! The rooms were very spacious and clean. All amenities were up to date. Would have been nice to have free internet access in the room, however. I imagine a lot of business travelers stay there - so that would have been a plus. The pool area is luxurious and well maintained. The food at one of the restaurants within the hotel was very good as well (the name escapes me). The focal point of the hotel is a sheik sushi bar/lounge that we weren't able to visit - but appeared pretty hip. I would definitely stay here again and recommend the hotel to anyone.

I recently stayed at the Renaissance for a work-related seminar. The quality of the service, including the seminar areas and related refreshments and dining was excellent. I was able to take advantage of the Lotus Spa on two separate occasions – Ana Maria was wonderful!

The fitness center was well equipped, including complimentary bottled water and ear phones for the cardio machines.

I stayed here for a business conference and had a wonderful expereince. I have a gluten food allergy and the staff was above and beyond to assist me. Hotel is large with rooms that have views of the outdoors and views of the indoor common area. I would have preferred a view of the outdoors, but it was not horrible. The pool area was great and so was the staff. I really enjoyed being greeted at check in with champagne! Location was right at Seaworld, but seemed to be a bit of a travel to ther places.

My wife and I have just completed a week at this hotel as a base for touring the Orlando area. Simply Excellent is the only description available. Everything about the hotel is top of the range, with faultless and friendly service from EVERY member of staff we spoke to. However with glass fronted lifts and a central atrium big enough to house three Jumbo's this is not a place for those with a fear of wide open spaces. My wife coped well but it was the only thing that one needs to be aware of regarding the design of this hotel.

The only other thing to recommend is not to eat here unless someone else is paying the bill. The sports bar is more expensive than the main restaurant for the same items and in both you need a sub prime mortgage just to eat a burger!

Otherwise this is an excellent hotel with probably one of the best service levels in the States.
