“An Improvement over the Sonesta Hotel”
Reviewed April 27, 2012

The Doubletree, formerly the Sonesta, has made nice improvements. However, the hotel is understaffed between 2-6 am. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The internet is Hilton fast! The food is much better than it was. The pool area is average. The staff is nice, but we found that coming into the hotel late in the evening or early morning was a difficulty. When we checked out before 6 am to catch a flight, our car had to be retrieved by the only desk agent. We almost missed our flight. The cost of parking was reduced from $30/day to $18.

Room Tip: Definitely choose rooms on the non-railroad side of the building. Freight trains through there alwa...

Pictures of the hotel do not exactly reflect the location of this hotel. There is a train that runs right by the property that is audible during your stay. This, by no means, ruined our stay as we were very busy with a wedding we were attending in Winter Park. If you aren't expecting too much this is a fine hotel to stay at. However, if you are expecting a upscale Doubletree this does not make the list of their "premiere" properties. No dresser in the room so you are living out of the suitcase. The alarm clock radio didn't work which was not cool. The beds were very very comfortable and you didn't want to get out of bed until the noise in the morning from the cleaning staff drove you insane! My fiance complained about this every morning we were there. Breakfast wasn't bad but that is all I can say about the food. Overall this property was very average.

Stayed here on business while in Orlando. The hotel is right on I4 which is convienent. It is also DIRECTLY on train tracks, the train literally shakes the windows. It can be heard all the way up on the 15th floor. Everything about this hotel is dirty and dingy. If I had not been so tired from traveling I would have checked out immediately. The furniture in the rooms is all marked and beaten up. Hotel staff is friendly, at least they can hire good people for this sad hotel.

What a beautiful hotel! The staff is amazing and you can't beat the location. This hotel has it all. We received a complimentary upgrade to a junior suite and the AWE never stopped. All of the hotel staff went above and beyond to accommodate. It's nice to know customer service isn't dead.

Room Tip: corner rooms are the " Must Haves"

We are currently stayin, having spent 2 weeks on the coast... Now, in England, we live on a ring road, and here, we can't sleep...
We paid to upgrade to a suite and the hotel is not full, yet we're in a room between the Interstate and the Amtrack line - last night, the train went passed at 10pm then midnight, followed by 2am and 5.30... They honk horns in the USA through towns, so it's not like a train in the UK. Then at 6am, the Interstate got busy and noisy...
I'm looking forward to going to New York in 2 days for some peace!
I can't be bothered to complain, as I feel they should allocate accordingly, especially as the Hotel is empty - we should never have been in this room, 1033.
The rest of the hotel facilities are ok, and fit for purpose - and the staff are great, but bring your ear plugs!

My husband and I came to Orlando for Easter weekend trip. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I read some of the reviews regarding it being dated and would slightly disagree. The furniture wasn't brand new, but it was nice and our room was very clean and comfortable. The hotel was undergoing some construction but only noticed it when it came to using the elevator. Again the staff did everything to ensure we enjoyed out stay. We would stay here again.

Purchased a Groupon/Living Social deal for this location to use for my husband and I for Valentine's Weekend Getaway. The downstairs lobby was very nice and the cookies, as always, were excellent. Got up to the room and the couch/ottoman looked like it had seen quite a few years of wear and tear. Bed was very comfy. Was expecting to have a mini-fridge in the room but there wasn't one so I had to do a makeshift fridge for some small perishables to avoid paying $10/day to have one brought up to he room. People were great but was expecting a bit more out of a downtown hotel.
