“Older Marriott property still high quality”
Reviewed July 27, 2012

This 20+ year old property is centrally located between Universal Studios and Disney World (5 minutes either way) and right around the corner from Sea World. Even though it is one of the oldest Marriott properties in Orlando, the unit didn't look dated inside or outside. We traveled with 4 adults and used our timeshare; all units are 2-bedrooms with a screen-in porch. (One king, one double bed.) The couch in the main room had some worn cushions and one spot on it, other than that, the furniture and decor was in good condition. I highly recommend for families or someone who likes a full kitchen for meals. There are 3 pools, one small one, the main large pool has food and bar service another large one has a mini beach. They have a fitness center with the usual and an Activities center, which had a lot to offer: a teen room, arcade, 2 outdoor pool tables, basketball court, mini golf, boat rentals, and more. A boat taxi takes you across the lake if you want to go to the other side. Check in was great, fast and we were able to get into our room early. They accommodated us on our last day, as we had a late night flight. No sit-down restaurant on site which was not an issue since it is located minutes away from International Drive and other high-end restaurants. They have a small convenience market which sells food items plus a take-out window for fast food, like pizza, etc. located next to the main building. Publix and Super Walmart (groceries) are minutes away. The helpful front desk staff provided us with a handout for directions to all the attractions. As a Marriott owner, we attended the 90-minute sales presentation and in exchange received discounted Universal tickets. Even though they are not selling "weeks at a property" anymore, they are still selling and it's "Points" which they now call "Shares in the Marriott Trust". They honored the 90-minute time limit but it's still a hard sell, decide now kind of thing.

My family recently stayed in a two bedroom two bath recently renovated and spotless villa in building 65 and wow this place was impressive. Relaxing, spacious and lovely. I can't say anything bad about it. Our view was of the beautiful lake off the screened in porch and we are a short walk away from two pools and the main building. We loved every minute of our stay here. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone visiting the Orlando area.

My family (15 and 13 year old son and daughter), wife and I just spent a week at in the two bedroom villa. Here's my take:

Pluses:
Close to SeaWorld (less than 5 minutes), Universal (15 minutes) and Disney (20 minutes)
Quiet
Three swimming pools. Main pool had a jacuzzi like bubbling area in the shallow end. Simple, fascinating fun for kids and adults. Pool temperature was warm enough to stay in for hours :)
Activity center with "lake" activities, mini-golf, basketball court, fishing. Kid's/teen's center with many activities.
Well appointed 2 bedroom accommodations. Clean and relatively spacious with screened-in porch.
Fitness center with various treadmills, ellipticals, stationary bikes, Life Fitness weights and free weights.
Golf course and spa on site (please note that I did not use either, but I thought you would like to know).

Minuses:
Second bedroom is small when the pull out sofa is used. However, it was just for sleeping. So it wasn't an issue.

The staff on site were incredibly friendly. They were always smiling and saying hello. The front desk person who checked us in was very helpful and friendly.

I really enjoyed this site. We stayed at the Marriott across the street before and really liked that place too. But I would say this place is actually nicer and would stay here again without hesitation.

TIP: If you don't want to deal with the timeshare pitch, don't get the free gift that they offer at the front desk when you check in.

We stayed here for one week in July 2012 and it was my wife and I and our two children. All I can say is our stay was GREAT! No complaints at all.

Check-in was smooth and efficient. The check-in employee was very friendly and informative. After that we went to the concierge to claim our free "gift". The gift is in exchange for taking part in a 90 minute presentation for timeshares(you pick what day and time you want to go). For 90 minutes of our time we received $75 in Sea World Cash. There are several different gifts you can choose from(Amusement park tickets, Kennedy Space Center tickets, etc.). They all amount to about $75. Not bad for 90 minutes. They also provide childcare while you take their presentation. We had no intention whatsoever to buy a timeshare, so we sat and listened and told them we were not interested. It isn't high pressure sales. When you say no, they accept that.

Our room was beautiful and large. The kitchen had stainless steel appliances and all cookware, dishes, cups, etc. were provided. The living room had a large sectional that contained a hide-a-bed. There was also a comfy chair too. The TV was a large flat screen and there was a DVD player too. The channel lineup was good and included both HD and SD channels.

The master suite had a king size bed that was very comfortable, as were the pillows. It too had a large flat screen TV. Adjacent to the bed was a two person Jacuzzi tub. The bathroom was large and had two sinks. The shower and toilet were in the same space, separated by a door. The shower was nice and pretty big. The shower head was an adjustable massage type.

The guest bedroom had a queen size bed that was just as comfy as the master bedroom's bed. It also had a sofa with a hide-a-bed. And, of course, it had a large flat screen TV. The guest room was large enough. However, if you were to use the hide-a-bed(which we didn't), it could get a little tight in there. The guest bathroom was your standard hotel style bathroom. One sink and it had a shower tub and it too had an adjustable massage shower head.

The laundry room had a nice sized washer and dryer, which is a must when you go for a week.

The resort grounds were gorgeous. There was a large lake in the middle with a walking bridge going across. There were three pools. Two of them were very large and one was the same as a standard hotel pool. The pools had no slides or water features for kids, but my 10 and 12 year old girls still had plenty of fun!

The kids event center was very cool. They had a craft/coloring room, an arcade room, a video game room that had a Playstation 3, X-Box 360 and a Wii. You can check out games for free. Throughout the week they offer tons of activities for kids and adults. Some of the things for the kids were build-a-bear, sand art, design your own picture frame, piggy bank painting, magnet painting, candy lei building, sidewalk chalk art, make your own bubble gum, scented candle making, finger painting and movie night to name just a few! Some are free, some have a nominal fee. They also had family activities like the Polynesian night with flame dancers, ice cream socials and pool parties. You can also rent bikes and paddle boats. There is also a courtesy boat that will shuttle you between the clubhouse and the kids event center/boat and bike rental kiosk. My kids would have been perfectly content spending the entire week just in the resort(me too).

A couple of hints that we found that I will pass on to you. About a month prior to your stay you can call and request certain building locations. We requested a recently renovated building(some are still not renovated) close to the clubhouse(the main pool is here, as is the bridge and the marketplace). They will direct you to Publix Supermarket, which is close and convenient. But this store is set up for tourists and prices are marked up 40 percent. Ask for directions to the Super Walmart on Turkey Bend. It is about 2 miles away, but MUCH cheaper than Publix.

All the employees are super friendly and will bend over backwards to make your stay awesome. They delivered a box of chocolates and a card for our wedding anniversary. I will definitely be coming back in two years!!!

I had a wonderful stay. The rooms were very clean and the staff was very kind and helpful. Our room (I believe we had a two-bedroom), was lovely! We had a great view overlooking a golf course! The hotel had SO many things to do, some days we didn't even do any of the parks in Orlando! There are basketball courts, a playground, and many kinds of boats that you can rent and go on the lake (paddle boats, etc.). It was truly a wonderful stay. It was close to the parks. I would recommend to a family with young kids, or even teens.

First impressions are a very well manicured resort. We go at Easter when the grounds are being spruced up for summer and the mulch is carefully applied to the flower beds! That attention to detail is typical. Most, If not all of the apartments are freshly refurbished with HD TVs. Our two bedroom apartment had one large bedroom and one more modest - there is a sofa bed in the latter. Beds up to usual excellent Marriott standard. The resort has several water features - lakes for fishing and pools for swimming/lying out. Whilst the main pool can be lively there are quiet spots to relax and across the boardwalk a second pool with more space. The marketplace store caters for basic needs but there's only a basic burger/pizza kiosk, though the area has loads of restaurants nearby and many will deliver. Outback is busy but food and service worth the wait. Cypress Harbour is very well positioned for all the Orlando parks - it's round the corner from Sea World and roughly equi-distant from Disney and Universal (about 20 minutes either way). There are loads of giant shops nearby - try Publix supermarket or Whole Foods down Turkey Lake Road.
High standard of accomodation, plenty of poolside space and now a pleasant spa too.
