“Convenient location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 12, 2014

Check-in at the Dolphin was speedy. Our room on the 17th floor was a long, long way from the elevators, but the beautiful lake view from our balcony made up for it. Our room had ample space and the beds were comfortable. It was the very spare room & toilet amenities that made me realize this is not a luxury hotel, but a basic 4-star. Breakfast buffet was more than adequate. Remember to ask the chef to do your waffles & pancakes the Mickey Mouse way. The Friday night seafood buffet at the Swan was very good. The best thing about this resort was the convenience of taking the boats to Epcot and Hollywood Studios.

The hotel and rooms are very good. Staff are very courteous. However, eventhough this hotel claims that it is on Disney property, they do not have transportation to/from the airport.

The transportation and (airline) luggage booking to Disney hotels is a good benefit, but both Swan & Dolphin do not offer this facility.

Thank you for this wonderful review of your stay Bob! We are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the resort as well as your room during your stay. Thank you for the kind words that you have described our talented Cast Members. We take great pride in our Cast Members who go “above and beyond” to make sure that you and your family have everything that you need during your stay. By proudly being a Starwood property in the heart of Walt Disney World, we unfortunately are not part of Disney’s Magical Express program, but we work together with Mears Transportation on which you can arrange transportation from the airport to our resort. Thank you for being our guest. It would be our pleasure to welcome you back at any time.

This is a great hotel with nice view, friendly staff and convenient location to all the Disney parks. Loved pool, and all the staff there are very helpful and friendly. We had a small gathering function in the suite, the catering staffs were awesome! They went out their way to make sure the event was successful. Special thanks for George and James. Over all we had wonderful time.

We have stayed several times at the Swan, and it is lovely, beds are nice, everything is clean (check-in does take awhile) and most importantly it is very close to Disney - you can walk or take the boat to get to Epcot. Recently we tried the Dolphin (just across a little walkway). As compared to the Swan it disappointed us. The self parking lot was rather far (not a huge deal since we are pretty fit), but check-in was actually very fast (at least it seem that way since my husband was almost totally checked in by the time I parked and walked back to the desk). We also met a really nice person, Staci, working at the Front Desk who made our anniversary very special. We felt very well taken care of and were liking the hotel, until one morning when we tried to get up and take a shower, and mid-shower the water turned off. At first just the hot shut off leaving icy cold water, then all the water from the shower, and after a few minutes of frantically rinsing off with cups of water from the sink, even they stopped working - no water whatsoever in the shower, sink or toilet. We called the desk and they said someone would be right up. We waited for awhile, but nope, no one ever showed up. Finally we had to start out on our day to Disney, soapy and grimy. Not what I would expect should ever happen for what you are paying. Later in the day, when we got back there was some water, but in the morning when you're getting ready for a long Disney day, you sure don't want to be mid-soap and and have the water shut off. Overall it is a nice place to stay, I just think its a little overpriced for what it actually is.

We are happy to hear that are a repeat guest of our resorts, and that our central location to Disney attractions is beneficial for you. We want to thank you for choosing to spend such a special occasion with us; it is wonderful that Staci provided such exceptional and memorable service during your check-in. Your gracious words have been passed on to appropriate Leadership.
We are deeply sorry for the inconvenience caused due to the water outage. We can imagine how frustrating it must have been to have this interruption as you ready yourself for a day at the parks. This is not our standard operation. Please reach out to us at ReviewManager@swandolphin.com so that we may enhance your previous experience. Thank you for being our guest.

We just returned from 5 nights at the Dolphin. We have previously stayed at many of the Disney resorts including Coronado Springs, Port Orleans, Polynesian and Grand Floridian. However there were no deals at the Disney resorts, so we decided to try the Dolphin because of it's location and great rate. The rate was $149 but then we upgraded to a resort view room for $169, then a $20 resort fee and $15 parking charge was tagged onto that. So it was basically $200 a night, still much cheaper than the neighboring Boardwalk or Beach Club resorts. Here are some of the things we liked and did not like about this resort.
Rooms: We had a main floor room with a patio which we really liked. We had a nice view of the water where the boats docked. We did not find the boats noisy at all. We were a LONG walk from the pool, and well pretty much everything - we did not like that! The bed was extremely comfortable as are most "heavenly" beds. We had an adjoining room which did not provide ANY insulation from our neighbors and we had very noisy neighbors until the wee hours of the morning - crying, screaming, etc. - we could pretty much hear their entire conversations. So, make sure to ask to not have an adjoining room!
Public areas: I suppose if we had never stayed at a Disney resort we wouldn't have missed it, but we really did miss the "Disney" charm. It had a large hotel feel to it. The pool area was a bit noisy - there was really no quiet pool which other Disney resorts have, but the pool areas are very nice.
Transportation: we were happy we had a car to use as an option - the bus service seemed slow compared to other times we have been there - it took us well over an hour to get back from the Magic Kingdom. Being able to use the boat to go to HS and EPCOT was very nice and relaxing. The boat service was very good.
I would likely choose a Disney resort the next time if I could get a sale rate, however for the price, the Dolphin is a good choice.

We appreciate you taking the time to detail your recent stay. We are glad to hear that you were able to take advantage of your patio overlooking the Disney boat docks; it sounds relaxing! It is wonderful that you could continue that relaxation in comfort in our Heavenly Beds. We are also pleased that our proximity to the Disney attractions and the water taxis to Epcot and Hollywood Studios proved beneficial for your fun-filled days at the parks. We do apologize, however, that you experienced noise disruption from your neighbors, and that it disturbed your rest.
As the only Starwood hotel on Disney property, we are able to offer a unique blend of Starwood amenities and Disney benefits. While our resort does not present the same storytelling and theming that is often evident at Walt Disney World owned and operated resorts, we aim to provide a resort with a unique, imaginative, and modern design. Though we cannot influence the timeliness of the Disney transportation, we are sorry about the length of your return trip was longer than anticipated. We thank you for your feedback, and hope to welcome you back in the future.

Well kept grounds and a superior friendly staff makes this a great place to stay while visiting Disney world. The hotel is run by other than Disney, and they do a great job at it. I would definitely stay here again.

Our stay was just average. We started out in a king room with a fold out couched positioned in a Manet that made it physically impossible to open, so we changed rooms later in the day. Our second room had no bedding for the pull out couch (though at least it opened.)

A few uneventful days. Slow tub drain, but air conditioning worked well and the room was quiet despite a full hotel.

We asked for an hour or two late check out (willing to pay for it) but were told it was not possible so we hustled to get the family ready and out between conference sessions. Come to find out we had left a car seat in the closet and when we ran to the front desk at 3pm they have us a room key since our room hadn't yet been cleaned! Huh? Why exactly then was a noon checkout absolutely out of the question?

I'll no doubt stay here again because I have no say where our business conferences take place, but overall we were not super impressed.

We appreciate you taking the time to review your recent stay. We are deeply sorry for the inconveniences you encountered in terms of the sofa beds in your rooms and the slower tub drain. These concerns are certainly not our standard, and appropriate Leadership has been made aware.
We realized we let you down by not being able to honor a late check-out. We have shared your experience with our Front Office and Housekeeping teams so that we can continue to enhance our guests’ experience.
