“True Disney Magic”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 5, 2012

We stayed at the Cabins at Fort Wilderness for the first time & it was amazing. There were 5 of us in the cabin, myself, my husband, my mother, and 2 children, ages 6 and 3 years old. It was very clean, spacious & more private then a typical resort. The ammenities on site are incredible, and my only regret was that we didn't get a chance to try everything, as we were so busy at the parks. The transportation to and from the Parks & other Disney resorts was quick, and relaxing. We had trouble upon checking in, and in true Disney fashion the problem was corrected and we were given a partial room refund. The food on site is amazing, the Trading post has everything you need should you forget something. A golf cart is a must, we rented ours from an off-site company and were able to save a bunch of money, and their so much fun to ride around on & enjoy all the sites the resort has to offer. All around, well worth every penny & we would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: We stayed in the 2800 loop. Newer cabins, close to the pool & entrance & exit from the resor...

Picture a campground that is maintained and cleaned as well as a Disney theme park! Throw in campfire sing-a-longs, horses, golf carts, lake activities, bikes, a beach, and tons more. You will never find a nicer campground. We have stayed at the Fort the last 3 times we've been to Disney World. They have so many different site options. It's peaceful and quiet, and right near all the Disney action. It's just minutes from Magic Kingdom. If you are a camper and heading to Disney, this is a budget friendly way to go. Plus it's a great place to just relax and wind down without being trapped in a hotel room.

Room Tip: Book your trip as far in advance as you can, because sites will go quick. If you are planing last mi...

This was our second. time to WDW -we stayed at Port orleans Riverside the first time. This time with now two teens we needed something bigger. The cabins were wonderful - spacious and WELL kept. We did not rent a cart-unneccesary. request a cabin near transportation and a short walk and mostly less than 5 minute wait for the resort bus. The buses to the parks take longer to show up. The food at the resort is average. The staff at the checkin desk could REALLY be improved! Take in the Hoop Do Do while there -corny FUN! Lastly if you expect first class in everything - stay at one of " those" resorts otherwise for an average family the cabins are perfect!.... THE ONE thing I figured out too late- goto The Magic Kingdom when late extra magic hours we went at 8:30 really busy for fireworks by 10:30pm the park really emptied out hardly a wait stayed till 1am .

Room Tip: request close to transportation!

This was our first trip to Disney and we loved staying in the Cabins. If felt so good at the end of the day to come back to our own place with plenty of space for everyone to spread out, relax and have some down time. It was very nice to have a full kitchen and be able to prepare a majority of our meals, which was much cheaper and healthier than eating out all the time. We were just a short distance to the bus stop so getting to/from places was very easy and wait times were very short. There are plenty of onsite activities for everyone which was a nice alternative to have when not going to one of the major parks. The buffet restaurant has great food and very friendly service. Although the cabins are showing their age, they are still a great option and we will definitely stay at the cabins again.

We stayed in a Cabin and had an amazing. time. Rent a Golf Cart. The area is huge! The sing-a-long was fantastic as well as the Smores. Fort Wilderness does it right. My Toddler had a ball. My only complains are: The pool is too cold and they turn off the Kid Park early. Also, in the Cabins they really need to pressure wash the Patios. Other than that we had an incredible time and cannot wait to return!

We have been to Disney about 15 times in the past 5 years. We normally stay at one of 4 different places, but this time we booked at the Cabins at fort Wilderness because we needed a room that slept 5. I was slightly skeptical at first as I had read some reviews about the transportation with in the resort, but once I was there I was more than satisfied. We actually had our own Cabin, which was not only spacious but was our own so we did not have to worry about the kids being too loud and disturbing the neighbors. There wasa full size fridge and a stove/oven, microwave and toaster which was awsesome. The bedroom had a double bed and a set of bunk beds, the living room had a murphy bed. There was a couch in the living room as well that did not fold out to a bed but of course someone slept there anyway and there was even enough room to blow up a queen size air mattress. The transportation was not horrible. The down side was you had to take a bus to get to the dock for the boat to the Magic Kingdom. Thats where Disney gets you with that good ol' "dig deep into those pockets and we have a solution to that"... They did have Golf Carts to rent which you could drive to the dock, park, plug in and leave it until you come back from the park for a quicker trip back to your cabin. They have a lot of "Campers" who come down and there are plenty of activities. Froma bon fire with Chip and Dale where you can roast marshmellows and sing a long to Disney favorites, to arts and crafts and tons of pool activities they definitly kept the kids busy. And for the adults there was a Golf Cart parade everyday, where you could decorate your golf cart and a lovely "watering hole" or Bar whichever you prefer to call it. IF your staying here I definitly reccommend the Hoopty - Doo - Revue. While it is a little bit pricey it is a great show, with a great meal and beer and wine are included in the price. Overall our favorite Disney stay yet :)

i have stayed here a few times over the course of 20 years, and this place seriously needs a face lift. the lots are fine but really jammed in. you can totally see the spot 1 foot from you, there are no trees blocking the way to your neighbors space. there are leaves and dirt everywhere, and picnic tables on site are old and gross! the restaurant serves mediocre food but service has been friendly. its the bath houses that are the worst though! ugh! you really feel like you are using latrines in the middle of the woods. the showers are old and dilapidated and you stand in a pool of water since it doesn't drain well. i dreaded to touch anything. oh gosh and if you want wifi there are 3 spots you have to go to AND you have to pay for it!!!!!!!! get with the times disney, you can only gouge people so much. disney really needs to upgrade FW or open a new rv park. the rates here can't be beat, but you really are getting very little. TV service is good though.
