“Great value resort for Disney vacation”
Reviewed April 25, 2014 via mobile

Booked this Disney vacation through Thomson Travel Agency as an All in One Package Deal and this worked out to be a really good deal.

We travelled Manchester to Sanford on the Thomson Dreamliner and had a 60 min coach transfer to the All Star Sports resort.

All Star Sports, Music and Movies are all within walking distance of each other in a barrier accessed community making it feel very safe. One of the benefits of the Sports is that it's always the first stop for the Disney Transportation Coach which run every 20mins between 7.30am and 2am and was included in the package meaning you generally get a seat from resort to theme parks. None of the 6 Disney Theme Parks or Downtown Disney was more than between 5-15 mins coach drive and the journey was easy and convenient dropping you as near to the park entrances as possible ( appearing much better than car parks which seemed quite far away and would have cost 15 dollars per day unless you got a complimentary parking permit supplied by your resort).

We were in room 2261 (ie .block 2 level 2 room 61) which was perfect as it looked over the basketball themed area on the first floor up which could be accessed via lift or stairs and made for a good play area for the kids as required. It only took 2 mins to walk to the pool and restaurant area and was just far enough away from this to mean it was quiet to rest in your room.

Rooms were clean, satisfactory size ( slightly bigger than premier inn family room), with bathroom providing both bath and shower above, sink was in dressing room type area screened off from main room with curtain and also containing open wardrobe area, suitcase storage rack and ironing board with iron, wall safe and wall fixed hair dryer.

Room had 2 double beds that were really comfortable and clean and made up every day by the housemaid. Plenty of fresh towels every day also supplied and as these were also to be used you could use phone in room to order more from housekeeping if you required them.

Also in room was small dining table and 2 chairs, flat screen TV, clock radio with iPod connection cable, phone, coat rack, shoe rack etc. and decor was a simple disney character theme with sporty pictures of disney characters in keeping with sports resort.

Restaurant was convenient and open 7am - midnight and had 5 service areas ( 1:Italian - pastas and pizzas, 2:Fast Food- burgers, hot dogs, fries, French toast, chicken nuggets etc, 3: Traditional- salmon fillet, roast chicken, braised/pot roast steak, pepper steak, meat pie, veg, mash, corn, beans etc, 4: Bakery - pastries, cakes, cookies, breads, ice creams, smoothies, 5: Marketplace: chiller cabinets with drinks, salads, dairy, wine, beer, chilled desserts, fruit etc). We had a quick service meal plan included in our package which was value for money and the magic bands enabled us to access our meal plan by swiping the magic band at the checkout either here or in any one of the 50+ venues in the theme parks during our stay meaning you were not having to work to any time schedule like typical all inclusive deals which are only accessible in the hotel as we could use it anytime in any of those venues listed.

Pool was big in the main area of the resort and open 9am -11pm daily and manned by lifeguards and the kids loved this space, and had a small shallow pool set back from main pool for toddlers to splash. There was also a square pool towards the back of the resort but was generally appearing to be used less during our time at the resort but this may not always be the case.

Check in was quick and easy and it was during this time that staff (cast members) went through how the magic bands worked and what the resort had to offer. Concierge helped us with access to fast passes each day on our magic bands as we didn't have the technology to do this via mobile phone app or iPad using the free resort wifi.

Gift shop had typical gifts and supplies including alcohol, sweets, magazines toys, clothing, books, toiletries, sun cream, swim essentials etc.

Staff very friendly and helpful.

Overall would highly recommend if looking for good, clean, convenient, friendly, value for money resort.

The rooms were clean and comfortable. The grounds were well groomed by not as clean as I'd expect from Disney. The food court was way below what I'd expected. The food was marginal, service was slow and there were too few healthy choices.

Spent 4 nights here recently, with a high school softball team. The rooms are small, but very clean and updated. The whole resort is very well-themed, as Disney does so well. Beds were comfy, towels nice. Bathroom (toilet & shower) was TINY! Nice to have the sink outside the bathroom. Flat screen TV, clock radio with iPod connection, free wifi throughout grounds.

Being the week of Easter, the place was PACKED full of sports teams and families, so there was noise at night, but all seemed to quiet down by midnight. My room overlooked the ever-popular football field, a gathering place for teens looking to meet friends, play games, etc.

Pools were both beautiful, but never had time to use them. The entire resort area was very well-kept and clean.

The dining area offered different entrees daily, along with the usual standbys of burgers and pizza. The softball team was a fan of the pasta.

Staff, for the most part, was very helpful and friendly. We arrived late (due to travel delays) and were in our rooms before we knew it - and we had a group of over 30 people.

Transportation to Disney parks was right out front of the hotel - so convenient. Bus drivers were always courteous and helpful.

Room Tip: Put on your walking shoes - nothing is close-by in Disney!

3rd time staying here. Unfortunately this trip coincided with Easter Week and Spring Break and I was assigned a courtyard facing room which was very noisy at night with all the teenagers congregating in the centre field. 3 calls on separate nights failed to make the hotel staff enforce the signs for "quiet time between 10pm and 9am". Some nights the noise went well into 11pm, almost midnight on one occasion. Far from wanting to be a kill-joy I just wanted to rest, as did the children in my group. They could have gathered in their rooms where at least the sound proofing would have dulled their racket.
Apart from that the hotel was as i've experienced in the past - handy for visiting Disney parks, clean with helpful staff (although I was mis-informed of parade times on one occasion which meant we missed one show). The food court has plenty of variety, if a little pricey.
Would i stay here again? Probably, but only if it was much cheaper than Pop Century or Art of Animation and if I had a room AWAY from the centre football field.

We were able to get this Hotel on a very good deal for the first part of our honeymoon. The staff were really friendly when we arrived both the desk and concierge. We were upgraded to a preferred room as we were n honeymoon for which we were glad as otherwise there was a lot of walking. The preferred rooms are by the pool and the food court. The rooms are clean. Even though it is only a three star it felt less. The toilet door was a slide door. I could hear next doors ablutions during the night. There was a curtain around the sink area. But at the end of the day it was clean enough ( the carpets needed a good deep clean) and it was somewhere to rest your head. The beds were very comfortable. The unlimited drinks were great and I would recommend buying a cup to use while you are there. Our only issue was the food court. The food was basic fast food. I had a meal, chicken and mash potatoes which was extremely poor, hospital food is better. Some of the other food was edible. The staff looked fed up in the food court and at times rude, giving one word answers. We should have complained but felt we didn't want to, in the end we got breakfast and ate it in the room and went to international drive the other nights.

Room Tip: Book a preferred room before you go though the ones by the pool can be noisy at night time.

We booked through Thomson and had no real issues. There was a little noise from kids playing footy etc. in the evenings, resort was spotless, and well managed, lifeguards watching the pools were very keen, maids clean the room every day to a great standard. I was a little concerned at some of the negative posts here but I would have no hesitation in going again.

Spent 4 nights in this resort and I'm very satisfied with the Disney Resort experience. This was my 7th time visiting Orlando but my first time staying in a Disney Resort, I would definitely recommend if you haven't tried it before.

First of all, you can't expect a five star experience when it's clearly a value resort, and C'mon there's so much to do in Orlando rather than spend the day in the hotel, it's not worth spending lots of money on your Resort.

My wife is currently a cast member at AK and I was visiting for Spring break, so she got there before I did and had already checked in. So I barely had any interaction with the cast members but everyone was friendly. I am very pleased with the Magical Express and Disney Transportation service. Room was OK. Enough space and amenities as you would expect from a Value Resort. I stayed in the football building facing the football field and had no trouble with noise or other guests.

I will definitely stay in the All-Star Resorts again, but I'm also looking forward to try some of the high end Resorts.
