“Okay stay, acceptable option.”
Reviewed May 12, 2013

Stayed at the Vista Cay Millennium for five days in May. We were doing a combo of Sea World, Space Center, Epcot and Disney. The resort had good reviews on Trip Advisor, and for the price of a hotel room, and half the price of Disney resorts, a three room condo seemed like a good idea.

The Pros: Price was excellent for the space and convenience of the place. Location was good, giving us easy access to all the places we wanted to go while removing us from some of the crowds. Convenience to the roads we wanted was a big plus. Disney was the longest drive and we were at Epcot and the Magic Kingdom in 15-20 minutes. Also convenient for heading tot he Space coast.

The Publix super market was right next door and that was an excellent benefit. The condos were not full while we were there, so the crowds were right, and the noise was low. The check in was quick, efficient, and prior to the stated check in time. The person who greeted me was friendly and knowledgeable, and the billing was accurate.

The condo itself was spacious and presented well. It was clean, and access was easy. The noise level at night was excellent and we were able to sleep well after long days.

The Cons: We entered the condo to the air fully running, and set at 46 degrees. I overrode that and the temperature came up quickly, but I soon found that the temperature programs had been set at various times throughout the day to go back to 46. I had to re-program the entire heating/cooling system.

The ice maker on the refrigerator would not distribute ice. I had to empty it and let it refill after which it worked once and then not again. In the second bathroom the sink drain stopper would keep going in and would not release. Had to use skinny kitchen knives to open the stopper and allow water to drain. The bedside lamp in the master bedroom had a broken switch on it and could only be turned on and off by plugging and unplugging it. The internet in the place was okay, but was hit and miss.

The kitchen was not overly stocked. There were some plates and dishes, but not really enough. The televisions in the bedrooms were 13 inch models straight from the early 90's with no remotes, and the picture on them was fuzzy at best. If you're nostalgic for viewing tv the old fashioned way, these were for you.

Summary: Worth the money to not be at a Disney park, or overly crowded by people. Convenience was excellent. The little irritating details drop the property from 4 (very good) to 3 (just average). My scale for rating hotel properties is below.

5 - (Excellent) Exceeds expectations based on price, location, and pre-visit expectations. - Yes, Yes, stay there (a rarely given recommendation)
4 - (Very Good) Value, location, and pre-visit expectations are met during the course of the visit - recommended
3 - (Average) Meets value, location, and pre-visit expectations for the most part, but shows problems in some areas. - Stay is a mileage may vary type of situation.
2 - (Poor) Over priced, poor location, doesn't meet expectations - some combination of these things. Not recommended
1 - (Terrible) - RUN AWAY

Having read the various reviews the trick seems to be to book through Millenium. Our 3 bedroomed condo was in beautiful condition including a well appointed kitchen. We had requested accommodation close to the pool and they duly obliged. As others have said it is an ideal base for the various theme parks and the local publix supermarket is excellent. I would also commend Millenium for the service they provided before our visit when queries were always promptly replied to and with great friendliness. Indeed difficult to find any faults apart from a couple of very minor things. On one occasion we asked the reception if there was a restaurant within walking distance to give us a break from driving. We were given the name of a restaurant which we were told was about a mile away. On further investigation the restaurant turned out to be 2 miles away although we did find an alternative that was only a mile away. On another occasion we asked where we could buy postage stamps and we were told that Publix sold them. When we asked at Publix they said they didn't but Vista Cay did. When we returned to Vista Cay there was a machine selling stamps! Agreed these are both very minor niggles and I would add that on a couple of occasions when there were minor maintenance problems with our rooms they were rectified almost immediately including a service visit at 10pm - very impressive. This is the first time we have strayed away fro hotels when visiting Florida and we were a bit nervous about booking at Vista Cay. I am pleased to say that all our fears were unfounded and in future this is the type of accommodation we will go for.

We have stayed at Vista Cay 5 times in total and would not stay anywhere else in Orlando

Vista Cay is a kind of Gated Community, you can book 2/3/4 bedroom condos, or 3 bed town house. These are owned by individual owners, so each one is decorated differently.

We prefer to stay on the main Vista Cay site, rather then the Isle which is another site a few seconds drive from VC.

Staff are always friendly and very efficient, any problems rectified almost immediately.

We recently stayed in April (2013) in a 3 bed townhouse. The house was clean and tidy upon arrival and had everything you need for a home from home holiday. Even a washer and dryer which makes it easy for when you arrive home, you can do your washing before you leave.

VC is not a hotel, so you will need to keep your own house clean and tidy, as there is no maid service.

We had a problem with our Wifi, and our door lock but both were fixed within an hour of reporting.

Pool area is clean and tidy with plenty of beds for lazing around !

There is a shop on site which can be a tad expensive, though there is a Wallgreens a short walk away and a Publix just over the road.

VC is a perfect place to stay for anyone holidaying in Orlando. We find it nicer then hotels, as you have a house rather then one room, in a hotel. You can also cook for yourself if you have had a busy day doing nothing, or being out and about.

If you are looking to go to Orlando look no further and stay here !! International Drive is a $10 taxi ride away, close to the I4 which is the main 'motorway' in Orlando.

Been home two weeks and we are already looking for a date we can return !

This was our 2nd time staying. Last year our unit was wonderful. Small things broken, but overall not a big deal. It is a privately owned rental after all so I didn't expect it to be perfect. This year we rented a 3 bedroom. We were afraid to touch anything for fear it would break. On day 2 I talked to the front desk and they promised a call from the GM as well as maintenance to come. Day 4 I did the same. Maintenance finally came and dropped a remote off (missing one) and fixed the laundry doors. Never touched the headboards that were loose on my kids beds. All the repairs in the unit would have taken less then 2 hours. All small things, but they added up to lots of annoyances. The towel bar fell off the shower, the counter was getting loose and needed caulking in the kitchen, the covers for the DVD players had been ripped off (making lots of fingers getting hurt with a curious 3 year old), broken pictures, broken locks, no large pans for cooking, missing clocks... The list could go on for pages. Also no call from the GM.

You are not allowed to lower the thermostat lower then 72. The living room was freezing all the time and the bedrooms were hot. No ceilings fan in our unit so no circulation.

We have family that stays here as well as us. We thought we found a diamond in the rough last year. Guess not. Doubt any of us will come back. Our tune might be better if the GM would have taken the 5 minutes to call. Not doing that makes us think they don't care about the customer. Especially repeat customers.

We booked a package with Thomson and upgraded our apartment to a three bed condo. We e-mailed Vista Cay asking for a high floor if possible. On arrival they stated this wasnt possible but upgraded us to a second ( first floor for brits ) floor lake view. Entry to the apartment was by Keycode. So it was strange not having a house key.

The only problem we had was someone tried to access the apartment after ringing the doorbell. Because we were undressed we didnt have time to answer. We rang reception and they told us to ring the management company. They were unaware of any planned visitors that day and that only the cleaners had access. On returning after a day out we fount a card from the Termite man inside the apartment. On the day before our departure a man entered our apartment to change the mastercode on the door. So its clear there are several people who have access without your knowledge. Now we are aware of this it wont put us off returning.

Having stayed in several properties it Orlando, hotels, houses and condo's we can state that this was the best so far. The location and amenities are excellent. I would recommend using Universal Boulevard instead of I-Drive fo getting around as there is less congestion and traffic lights.

The furnishings and equipment was excellent although my short wife had to pole vault up into the bed :-D

There is a shortage of sunshades round the pool but this is normal in the USA. We think a bar in the clubhouse could improve things but dont be put off.

We have no hessitation recommending Vista Cay to everyone and the next visit to orlando this is where we will stay.

Room Tip: High floor lake view!!

Stayed over 6 weeks of hell !!!.This company is the worst managed company that I have ever known. They manage the property Vista Cay in Orlando. They oversee maintenance workers that don't speak English and pour straight bleach on the floors without ventilating the buildings. Their construction subcontractors start work before 7am, on Saturdays and Sundays, bang hammers at daybreak, workers use the A/c Compressors as sawhorses and have no courtesy at all. Marc and Andrea have no supervisor skills at all. Loraine Frahm one of the directors that is inaccessible and could care less. Realmange Corporate- the Management company is no better. No one will take responsibility for the problems they have caused. Their workers don't return phone calls and their email doesent work. It is a shame as they could be a very nice place to stay. Stay some where else!!! Guests beware!!!!

Room Tip: They placed a 19 Yard Dumpster in front our room. Stay second floor or above if you want a good view...

We were there, at Vista Cay- the Mango Cove apartment, managed by rentsunnyflorida- on Spring break 2013. I'm not sure that's the same thing as the resort (not sure it's the same management), and since my main complaint is with the management I may be doing wrong with Vista Cay- so sorry if I am.
The main thing I can say is to watch out for the management- we got to the place late night (23:00) after a very long ride with two exhausted young kids, only to find the place completely a mess, used towels and sheets on the floors, everything filthy- it was just not cleaned. There's no one to call, so finally I called the security emergency number- that was the only one that actually returned my call (I called and texted the owner/ manager but she didn't bother replying). He had to talk to the owner, then talk to me, then talk to the owner, then talk to me... because she wouldn't speak with me directly. He of course had no idea what to do about that. Finally he gave me what he himself referred to as "I'm ashamed to offer this but this is what the owner told me.."- the offer was that we clean the apartment ourselves, put all the dirty sheets, towels etc. in the washer and dryer ourselves etc.- and in return they'll refund our cleaning fees and the first night's fee. Really insulting. Since all I wanted at that moment is to wash the kids and get them to bed, they finally arranged (after about an hour and a half) clean sheets and towels to be brought to our place- we of course needed to change everything on our own, and live with the filthy apartment for that night. Only the day after that it was cleaned.

Finally, the only compensation I got for this was- as originally offered- a refund for the first day and cleaning fee. While talking about the compensation, the owner actually had the nerve to tell me there's no need to refund the cleaning fee (which by itself is absurd: 80$ + taxes for a one time cleaning that should take place before we get there) since the apartment did get cleaned eventually (a day after we had to spend the night in a filthy apartment)!

The apartment itself (when clean) was OK- not everything working perfectly, not so clean washer/ dryer etc.- but I guess that can be expected from a rented apartment.

So the bottom line is- the place is OK- not great, but still OK- as long as everything is as it should be. Once something goes wrong- and due to a management fault in our case- there's no one to speak with, and you don't even get a reasonable compensation afterwards.

Room Tip: don't go to any rooms managed by "rent sunny florida"

We have reviewed your review during your recent stay at Vista Cay Resort and we are sorry that your experience was less than acceptable.

Millenium Management is the only full operation management company that operates directly here at Vista Cay Resort; unfortunately there are other management companies that rent units here at the resort too and we cannot control their customer service delivery;

We pride ourselves in delivering excellent customer and quality accommodations, ensuring that we can address any issues or needs that might come up during our guests stay.

We hope that we will have the opportunity to host you again at Vista Cay Resort in a near future, and be able to provide and deliver beyond your expectations

Sincerely,
