“Nice choice for family accommodations”
Reviewed November 22, 2010

Nice condo-style accommodations for a family. I traveled with a family of 6 adults. We spent 3 days at the Blue Heron before setting off on a cruise from Port Canaveral. We had a two bedroom unit, which had a Master bedroom (queen bed), a twin bedroom (two twin beds), bunkbeds in the hall and a living room with a pull out couch. The kitchen and bathrooms were well appointed. Everything was provided in the suite, laundry detergent, dish liquid, hair dryer etc. We were all very comfortable. We appreciated the ensuite laundry and dishwasher a lot! The view from the living room on to the lake was absolutely lovely, especially at sunrise! Be sure to request a room in Tower 2, which is the newer building with nicer rooms.

The location was good, very easy to get to Universal Studios and the Outlet malls, which were a short drive away. Lots of family style restaurants nearby.

I have a couple of criticisms though:
1. There were a lot of spiders in the hallways!! If you don't like spiders, don't look up when walking to and from the elevators!
2. The floors must be somewhat thin, as I could hear the people in the unit above us moving their furniture around. This was annoying at night.
3. The beds are somewhat lumpy.

But overall, it was a pleasant stay. Very good value for the money and I would stay there again if we return to Orlando.

My husband and I had planned for a year a trip to Cancun, Mexico. Hurricane Paula forced us to cancel two hours before our flight. Upset about not going to the luxurious hotel we had reserved, we started looking for a place to go to get away as we had both taken vacation for the week. We found Blue Heron Beach Resort in Orlando. My husband called to see if they had any vacancies. He spoke with Wendy, he explained our bad news and that his trip was to celebrate our 25th Wedding anniversary. After the long drive to Orlando we arrived to Blue Heron went to our room. There waiting for us was a card and two glasses. The outside of the card said " Champagne is in the fridge Happy Anniversary" Inside the card said We know it is not Cancun but we are glad you are here, enjoy your stay" I think this wonderful lady took it upon herself to try to make up for us missing our dream vacation. Needless to say I just cried! It was really so nice of her to think of us that way. We never met her but I left her a card when we checked out to let her know how much we appreciated it.

Blue Heron Beach Resort was really nice. It is located close to everything. The pool area is nice too!

Could not believe how great our condo was when we walked in for the first time. Massive room, had disney deluxe room as they call it. I'm usually very fussy about the rooms and usually get moved to other rooms when not satisfied, but this was beautifull, big and clean, like a home from home feel to it. Had 2 bedrooms, both with ensuite. lovely kitchen dining, living room area with amazing views from our bedroom we overlooked disney with fireworks going off about 9 at night which added a lovely touch. living room overlooked lake byran which was beautifull and in a morning was so nice to look over with the sunshine sparkling on the water. 5 mins drive to disney also international drive. My husband and i have been to florida twice before and this blinded the other hotels in orlando by far. Without doubt the best place to stay with a family. Can't wait to go back. All the reviews are so true. What you see is certainly what you get!!!

Great location for Disney and Downtown Disney. Clean unit, did ask to be moved to another unit because of noise, did not get request. Beds need to be updated, our unit had very uncomfortable beds. The tile floors were clean, but could hear every move above our heads on the tile floors whenever someone moved around dining chairs. Great views, can see fireworks at night.

Having always stayed in villas in the past we decided on the Blue Heron for a change. We made a great choice! We were on floor 15 in tower 2 with great Lake Bryan and Downtown Disney views. The condo was very clean and larger than we anticipated. Both bedrooms were en-suite with tv's, ideal for your own space if wanted. Staff were extremely helpful and pleasant when we needed anything. Pool was lovely and hardly used during our stay. The location of the resort was brilliant, not too far from the main theme parks. Car parking was good although one observation would be to paint the columns a different colour to the walls as they all blended into one.
All in all I would totally recommend this place - we will definately be staying on our next visit.

we stayed at the blue heron at the end of august-beg sept for 14 nights. everything about it was fantastic the reception were all very helpful the apartment had lovely views over the lake ,rooms were all clean with a bit of wear and tear which is to be expected. pool was cleaned every morning. we have been going to orlando for 14 years and used to stay in hotels until we discovered apartments. this is our 2nd time staying at the blue heron (we stayed last year in oct / nov ) hopefuly we will be back next year and wont hesitate in staying here again.
