“Great place to stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 12, 2013

We stayed 3 nights in the one bedroom family suite and loved it! Thanks to a promotional rate for Florida residents, the value of our accomodations was excellent. Room was exceptionally clean and well stocked. Only complaint is that non-stick fry pan in kitchen was scratched and needed to be replaced. Room was very quiet and the views onto the lake were lovely.

Location is great for Disney; if you get out the door early in the morning before traffic is bad it will only take you about 10 minutes to get to one of the parks. Publix grocery store is just a few minutes down the road and there are plenty of restaurants in the immediate area.

We had wifi in our room the entire time, but speed was a little slow. Did not miss having daily housekeeping a bit, especially since the room was so well cleaned before we arrived. Having a washer and drier in the room was very helpful.

Overall it was a great experience and I would definitely consider staying here again.

We rented a 2 bedroom condo at the Blue Heron for one week in mid-January 2013, as a group of 5 adults. The condo was nicely appointed, spacious and well-kept. The beds were quite comfortable with the exception of one of the twin beds in the second bedroom, which was old, uncomfortable and creaky – maybe good enough for a small child, but not acceptable for an adult. The kitchen appliances were in good working condition, and the basics for cooking and dishes were provided. Despite being located near a busy road, the condo was very quiet, even with the windows open all night. We were on a high floor, and enjoyed the large balcony and views from our suite.

When I called to resort directory to book the condo, I was told that the guest tower elevators could only be accessed by room keys. That was not the case – we didn't have to use our room key in the elevator: anyone could access the building. Not that we felt unsafe, but I would have preferred that this security feature had actually been in place.

Our major complaint with the condo was the wifi. We intended to rely on the internet to plan our daily activities, routes, dining plans, etc. I suspect they have insufficient bandwidth for the resort. The first 4 days of our trip were weekdays, and the resort was nowhere near capacity at that time. Nevertheless, when the wifi was working (and more often than not, it wasn't), it was unstable, unreliable and slow. This was disappointing and most frustrating.

All in all, our experience at the Blue Heron Beach Resort was positive. However, if 24-hour reliable wifi access from your suite is important to you, find somewhere else to stay. There are so many options out there, close to the parks and with comparable rooms and amenities to the Blue Heron.

Thank you for your comments. I would like to apologize for your experience during your recent stay with us. I will surely share your notes with my staff this morning, and will ensure all concerns have been addressed. The bedding is being replaced and we are currently trying to correct our internet issues. We anticipate these two issues to be corrected in the near future. The elevators , which the HOA manage here at the resort were addressed and the situation resolved. Our guest feedback is usually very good, and my staff and I take all guest comments to heart. We are dedicated to ensuring all of our guests have a great experience with us, and hope that you will give us another opportunity to serve you. I assure you that we will meet your expectations.

We stayed for 3 nights in February and we are very pleased. The well stocked kitchen was very useful. The views from the balcony were incredible. Great front desk staff. It was a different experience than a regular hotel (no daily cleaning service included), but we preferred it. We will definitely be back!

We did stay a second time and the place we stayed in was dirty towards the end of our trip we had to start wearing shoes when we woke up. All the kids feet where so dirty and we did mop using the mop they provided but it did not do anything.
The hard bed made up our minds to leave early something we have never done.

You should know these are privately owned condo's that the resort manages so you may have a very different experience from condo to condo. Also the website states a strict no pet policy however owners are allowed pets - so if you have a problem with pets then this is not the place for you. Facility is decent but exterior (paint/walls) seems a little dirty or run-down.

That being said the condo is spacious, well laid out and interior was in relatively good condition. The pools are clean and warm. The bunk bed and washing machines are nice for families - we even washed pillows/towels ourselves. Kitchen was spacious and appliances worked well. However our condo had disgusting carpet in the bedroom and all floors pretty dirty on arrival so they did comp us an extra cleaning which helped.

If you are not too picky it will be a nice place to stay as the overall appearance is clean, pools are nice and the facilities decent. The staff was very nice. If you have allergies, pet problems or aversion to some minor odor's then you may want to look elsewhere.

Room Tip: I think Tower 1 is older where we stayed so Tower 2 may be a better choice.

You are correct, owners may have pets in their private units, however very few do come with their pets. If in cleaning the unit after they depart with a pet and there was any problem, we would deep clean the unit for the arriving guest. I was pleasantly surprised with the accomodations at the Blue Heron. We stayed in Tower 2, Sunrise Suite.
Pros:
1. The condo was very large and easily accomodated 4 adults, with plenty of room to spare.
2. When we needed something (i.e. frying pan), we simply called the front desk and they brought one up right away.
3. Very pleasant and helpful staff, whether on the phone or in person! Everyone works well together and made great suggestions for shopping and excursions.
4. Both pools were well heated (maybe even a little too warm), except for 1 day when the water was really cold? Both pools were very clean and there were lots of lounge chairs available. Music by the pool area was provided....however at times was a little too loud (no biggie).
5. Lots of parking space and although there was no security, was never worried as all areas were well lit up.
6. Great price.
7. Fairly good location. Would recommend having a car as shuttle available only to certain attractions and no local grocery store.
8. Fairly clean. Bedding and towels could be replaced....but nothing was stained or overtly dirty.
Cons:
1. The sales pitch was a little much....but it seems to be the wave of the future.
2. Dryers take forever to dry. If we were staying longer than a week, this would have been really annoying. Lots of lint in the dryer....management should consider cleaning all the ducts - this may help with drying time (having said that, it is a bonus that a washer and dryer are available with no additional cost).
3. Ceramic tile floor is nice and easy to maintain...however makes for a lot of noise when the kitchen chair scrapes across the floor - a LOT of noise. Management, please look into putting sliders or felt on the bottom of the chairs as the noise really carrys from one room to another (or from the floor above). I think this would go a long way in keeping the noise level down.
4. TVs through out are small. Not a big concern as the weather was great and we were mostly outside enjoying the attractions or pool. If there was bad weather and we were stuck indoors more, it would be nice to have a larger TV....at least in the livingroom.

OVERALL...very happy with our stay at the Blue Heron. Would stay there again!

Room Tip: Tower 2 is newer. Stay in the sunset suite.....or anywhere facing the lake. Beautiful view and har...

We have stayed here in the past. Just stayed 3 nights in late January and will being staying for 4 nights in Feb. It is a great location, just about 1 mile from Disneyworld, but in a quiet location on a nice lake. All condos face the lake. With that being said-- there are a few things that need to be addressed. Bedrooms are carpeted and the rental we stayed in Tower 1 the carpet was filthy!! Also they were in the process of delivering new mattresses but our unit the mattress was old, worn out. The blankets also needed to be updated!! Nasty. Housekeeping needs to pay attention to the details. Floors should be cleaned upon arrival!! Its's a great value. Pool area by Tower 1 is awesome. Warm! If you're s sun worshipper -- the buildings will block the sun later in the day.

Room Tip: Rooms at the end of the halls are quieter. You pay a $10 per night premium for rentals above the 7...
