We just returned from the Blue Heron Beach Resort after staying 7 nights, one of our best stays at disney ever-been there 8 times(and we have stayed at carribean beach). Everything from checkin to checkout went better than expected, with lots of help from Michele, who contacted us about an extra night we had asked for. The condo is very nice, the location is excellent,(convenient to downtown disney, restaurants, and shopping). The pools are really nice, the music is very "beachy" themed, the lake is beautiful, the deck adds to the whole pool experience. The elevators are quite effiecient as well. All of the employees are so helpful, although we did not experience an issue. There are even pool towels in every room. The view from the living room balcony is awesome and you have a ton of privacy to enjoy coffee in the morning without other guests peering at you. You can actually see the epcot fireworks from the balcony as well. We went with our two teenage daughters and the 2 full bathrooms are a definite plus. We found the condo to be very clean, well decorated, and every thing we needed for an enjoyable stay!! Upon checkout, we informed the staff "we"ll definitly be back" An excellent place for the money. We just got back from a week in Orlando and stayed at the Blue Heron Beach Resort for 6 nights. We really enjoyed our stay. Our 2BR unit was on the north side of Building 1, and it was more than enough for our family of 5. I agree with some of the other reviews about the sheets (and blankets, for that matter) being pretty cheap, especially when compared with the quality of the rest of the furnishings. Also, the dressers were really small, but I'm really stretching to find things to complain about!

Most of my comments have already been covered in other reviews, so I'm trying to come up with something original.....

The location was fantastic, but our Garmin Nuvi wasn't able to locate the address - it didn't recognize the street - so make sure if you're going there to have a backup plan (e.g. the directions from the website).

Also, if you're staying for more than a few days, don't depend on them for your soap/shampoo...this isn't like a hotel that gives you fresh supplies every day. If you want a daily clean or restock, you'll have to request it for a fee. We didn't do this, so I don't know how much it cost.

All in all, great value, great location and very nice accommodations. We will definitely stay there again.

We booked at the Blue Heron because we got a good price on VRBO, and we are on a tight budget. We were only going to do Disney one day, and the rest of the vacation was supposed to have been swimming in the pool, which my kids usually love. The large pool that they show on their website is NOT HEATED! They had a note on the door posted (that I have a photo of attached) explaining that the heater was down for repairs, but when I called the front desk they said there were no plans to fix anything, and that the pool heater just wasn't big enough. It was not cold, it was FREEZING. My 6 year old got the nerve to jump in twice and cried both times. She is from Michigan, and not wimpy. Even the adults wouldn't get in. Everyone was complaining about it. They told me when I called the desk that there is another pool that is heated "a perfect 88 degrees" at the other tower, but it is very small, like a back yard pool, for hundreds of units to share. I've also included a picture of the kids crammed into that pool. Notice the size and nobody is smiling. There was also a notice at the small pool posted from the health department (also attached). And a picture of the "Pool Bar" they list on their website, that is a completely empty gazebo. The rooms were clean and exactly as they appear on their website. It has a good location in relation to the parks. But, if you stay here you need to go into it knowing that you are getting a hotel with basically no usable pool. A huge disappointment to us, because that was what our vacation revolved around.

Our family of five stayed at the Blue Heron from 3/20 - 3/25.
I called ahead of time to see if our room was ready, and they called me back when it was, which was around 2pm. The staff was very nice, and check in was fast. The views from the balcony are beautiful. We stayed in a one bedroom and I would advise anyone staying here to get a two bedroom. The master bedroom has a window that faces the outside hallway and people walk by it at all hours. The doors slam if you don't hold them. The king bed in the master bedroom is not a pillow top, but it's not hard either. The bunk beds are very hard. Our room had towels for 6 people. You do have to wash your own towels and dishes, unless you pay for housekeeping. The main pool was not heated, but the smaller one was. The covered parking area gets filled up fast, so we had to park in the outside lot most of the time. Overall we really enjoyed our stay, and you can't beat the location. We will stay here again, but it will be in a two bedroom.

We stayed 11 days at the Blue Heon Beach Resort booked through vrbo at a rate of 107 per night. The unit was great. Perfectly clean - all appliances, dishes, cookware etc brand new. Nicely laid out for a family allowing for a bit of room and privacy with the 2 bathrooms and separate master suite. The views were beautiful and the grounds well-kept. The washer/dryer meant we didn't have to bring as much luggage. This complex is very close to Disney and near everything else you could need - shopping, restaurants, grocery, drugstore. They did provide a Disney shuttle but it was so easy to drive that we didn't use it. The road is busy but the the receptionist gave us some tips when we checked in and we didn't have a problem. On a tip from this site we had groceries pre-delivered from GardenGrocer which was fantastic to arrive to.
If we had to say a "con" it would be that the main pool heater was not operating while we were there although they advertise heated pool (there was a smaller heated pool but it is not the beautifully landscaped one they show in the website pictures) This did not deter our canadian kids used to cold lake water but it might bother some! Also - yes the bed was hard as mentioned by others.
These 2 drawbacks would in no way stop me from going back or recommending this property to anyone who asks. We are already planning our return!

Our family of 5 stayed here happily in a one bedroom condo for a visit to DW. Location was great and we went to Publix 2 miles away to stock up. Everything was clean and up to date. All the supplies that the condo was supposed to have, it did have. It was quiet and non-commercial, a real retreat from DW. I would definitely stay there again. By the way, beautiful sunrise view over the lake from our balcony every morning. Kitchen was well supplied and washer was an asset.

Now, the glitches, mostly in the hopes that the management will shape up.

1) Room "not ready" at 4 pm check in. This is after I called an hour earlier from the airport to say we were on the way with sleepy children. I made a fuss and they "found" a room. Quite a nice condo actually, but why wasn't everything smooth? They said that people failed to check out on time, but then, they were charging those people another day, right ? and should have offered us a free night, right?

2) Large pool heater was not working, though small pool was heated and OK, but not as nice. I wonder, though, how long that pool has been out of function. With transient guests, they could keep it unheated forever.

3) "Free Shuttles" to DW is a sham. When I called the front desk to ask, they were mystified and then said they would make one trip there at 8 am and another back at 10 pm. Obviously, there is some false advertising going on here.

My family just returned from a week stay at the Blue Heron Beach Resort. We enjoyed our stay at the hotel and would certainly recommend it to others.

Pros:
-Nice, modern decor.
-Washer and Dryer in room. Yay!
-Ability to cook in suite.
-Very quiet and private.
-Gorgeous view of lake, great view of Disney fireworks.
-Covered parking.
-Proximity to freeway, Disney, and everything else you could need.

Cons:
-Cleanliness is not great. I think that this is due to the fact that there is no daily housekeeping and the units are only cleaned about once a week. It certainly wasn't gross, but definitely not immaculate either.
-Tile floors everywhere except the bedrooms make for dirty feet and socks. There wasn't a full size broom with which to sweep up. Also, good to note if you are traveling with an infant. Our 10 month old did not like crawling on tile.

Overall, a good place and an excellent value.

**Not necessarily hotel related**
Side note for those traveling to Orlando who have never been there before: there are toll roads everywhere! Be sure to bring plenty of change and singles, as you will pass 2 toll booths between the airport and the hotel.
