“Great place to watch Disney Fireworks”
Reviewed May 7, 2012

At the end of April, my husband & I rented a car in Ft. Lauderdale after a 10 day cruise. We didn't want to eat in restaurants after 10 days of ship food so the condo's kitchen was much appreciated. We bought groceries from SuperWalmart about 2 miles away. We drove every day so you really need a car for this resort. Covered parking was always available. There are 2 balconies; a private one that overlooks Lake Bryan and a common one that overlooks the street and Disney World. We were 14 floors up so we had good views of the nightly fireworks. The buildings and grounds were kept very well and any time we had questions or minor problems they were dealt with immediately. The only downsides were: 1. no safe in the room 2. no condiments/salt & pepper/etc. in the kitchen so I kept our menus pretty simple(there was 2 packets for coffee). Be sure to turn on your icemaker asap so that you have ice a few hours later. I would and have recommended this condo to others.

Room Tip: 14th floor and higher can view the nightly fireworks. Anything lower cannot.

took our holiday in 2010 enjoyed it lot easy to get to from the airports you do need a car to stay here.staff were nice only problem we had you do not have a safe in your room .a safe deposit box is down at the reception which you have to wait for if all are full plus you have to ask for someone to open up the door so you can get at it and if there are people waiting to book in you must wait till there are free to take you .our room have a view of the lake first class loved that room was clean not much in the hotel shops were about 1 mile down the road no problem with that at all parks are close going back again this year.

Room Tip: we just asked if we could get a view of the lake staff had no problem moving us to another room

We took our five year old twins to Disney World and decided on Blue Heron having been to Orlando several times previously and having staying in hotels and villas on other occassions. With two small children, we need a kitchen so we can have a small, cooked snack rather than going out if children get tired and Blue Heron BR ticks the box here. We also wanted to be close to Disney without being wrapped up in all things Disney hence our accomodation choice.

Accommodation was good, two bedrooms, two baths, fully working kitchen with dishwasher, dining table and seating area. Beautiful view over Lake Bryan and wonderful sunrise each morning. My husband was however maddened by the fact that there was no way of knowing how to find channels on the TV except to scroll through them. A guide may be helpful. Its very close to all things Disney. We didn't use the shuttle service but passed it every morning and it was never late. We wanted the convenience of a car and it worked well for us. Just remember, parking at the parks costs US$14 per day but is for use at any park on that same day so if you park hop, its not a huge issue.

Getting out of Blue Heron in the morning can be a hassle if you leave during rush hour because you can only turn right on exit and that can be annoying but you learn to live with it. But if you could choose, it wouldn't be on your list.

Our children loved using the pools late each afternoon but sunbathers beware that there is quite an amout of the pool area that doesn't get direct sun in the afternoon. It was 27 degrees C (approx 80 deg F) most of the time we were there with a couple of days slightly higher so you are not cold, just in the shade.

Blue Heron is close to Outlet Shopping and several malls if that is your thing and there are lots of lovely restaurants nearby. (Outback was nice for early evening dinner with two small children and Pacino's also great with smallies)

I would however note that the dishwasher hadn't been emptied before we arrived and there were plates in the sink, full of crumbs. Not the greatest first impression.

Also, the children's socks were filthy after running around in the room and there was no mop, so I went to Wal-Mart and bought one to clean the floor. I figured if they used the mop that had prevously 'cleaned' the floor before we arrived, I was better off buying a new one. It took 5 buckets to clean the floors properly.

I also had an issue trying to get a vacuum cleaner delivered to our room. So, my come away feeling is that housekeeping could do with a little shake up but its still a location worth considering.

Room Tip: If you choose a higher floor you can often see the Disney Fireworks Display at night.

For April vacation my family of four stayed in a two bedroom condo at The Blue Heron. The good features = great location, awesome pool, relaxing atmosphere, large condo, excellent view of the lake, plenty of seating, and a close walk to the dollar store and Falafel Moroccan Restaurant. The not so good features = no wireless Internet in the room, stains on the carpet, treadmills in exercise rooms did not work good, getting in and out of the resort can be a bit tricky, and they only give you two dishwasher tablets. I would stay at The Blue Heron again if I was planning on visiting Orlando for theme parks.

My family and I stayed at the resort for 10 days in April for easter....we had the 2 bedroom sunrise suite and it was a wonderful experience....from the well furnished living room to the fully equipped kitchen and the comfy bedrooms (the beds were a bit too soft for me)....the view of the lake from the 10th fllor was breathtaking and awesome.....at night the fire works from disney was also great...the location is great as its close to all the major resorts and tourist attractions....the jacuzzi in the master bedroom was great....the apartment was more than spacious for us...the 3 kids had lots of fun....and space to play in the flat....the pool area was awesome and we all had fun splashing in the pool....riding the jet skis on the lake was the highlight for me.....am definitely going back....

Room Tip: Rooms on the higher floors are better you have a better view and also you are not disturbed by the n...

This resort was close to Downtown Disney with many resturants. I found the rooms to be nice, but the beds/mattresses were old and uncomfortable. Stains on rugs. Walls are very thin. On weekends found it hard to sleep with people upstairs and next to us moving furniture and coming home late and bagging around in room. Location is hard to get in and out of with all the traffic on busy weekends. Bring own shampoo, soap not that good. Dollar tree is downstairs in next door parking lot to get extras.
Staff was very nice and helpful.

Room Tip: If in front of building 2 you will hear volcano from golf go off all night.

Better late than never! we stayed for 2 weeks last October. The room we had could not be faulted, it was clean and spacious, and nicely decorated, it was one which had been updated ie. granite worktops, flat screen tv etc. The bed in the master bedroom was one of the comfiest I have ever slept in and boy am I fussy when it comes to beds!
The kitchen had everything you required for your stay and the laundry facilities were more than adequate. I really cannot understand the reason why people moan about these. Only problem we had in the room was that a large flower table decoration had its pot badly broken. About a third of it was missing, housekeeping should have sorted this out before our arrival. I reported it to the reception and was told to bring it to them, which I did (I know I should have told them to do it, but anything for a quiet life), it was never replaced.
When we checked in we were asked if we wanted to attend a time share presentation, which would last 90 minutes, we did attend one the following morning. Suffice to say that after 3 1/2 hours I had given up the will to live and terminated the rest of the presentation. Give it a wide berth unless you are desperate for discount park tickets.
The rest of our stay was using the resort as a base whilst we hit all the major parks, which is handily situated for them. We did spend one morning by the pool sunbathing, to recharge the batteries, the area is well presented and kept clean with great views over the lake. It was only spoilt by an American couple who were playing a radio loudly whilst they sat on their 3rd floor balcony with the doors wide open, they had to shout to each other to have a conversation. Not all the sunbathers were interested in what they wanted to drink!
The one downside to the pool area is that by mid-day it is practically all in the shade from the towers, not good for the sun-worshippers
Our room was located on the 9th floor and we never heard any sound from the adjoining rooms even though they were occupied. We also had a good view of the Disney fireworks which was a bonus.
All in all a recommended place to stay to use as a base for the parks.
