“Good but prepare for lines”
Reviewed September 11, 2013

This restaurant can best be described as hippy does bar-b-que and other good food. The way this small restaurant works is you stand in line and give the person at the register your order. When it is ready they call your name and you return to pick up your food and sit down. If you have several people eating I would suggest having one stake out a table as the seating inside in the air conditioning is limited. They do have outside seating in back with fans. Don't forget there are stairs to an upstairs area. Now lets get to the food. This quirky restaurant serves some mighty good eats. The ribs and the sauce that comes with them are great. The sandwiches are large and are also very good, from pulled pork to turkey, it's all good. They also have some interesting salads and we have never had a bad meal here. I would suggest going to their web-site and looking at the menus to get an idea of what you would like. Like I said the line to order can get mighty long. The restaurant is housed in an old 2 story wood frame store that was once the main place to shop in Gotha. Plenty of character here ! As a matter of fact after parking keep an eye out for the chickens that seem to roam free around the grounds. The kids love them. A word about parking, there are only 3 spots directly in front of the restaurant but plenty in the rear and directly across the street. Try the dog, it's good food served in a historic building by some modern day hippies. What can there be not to like ?

“Very Unique Place”
Reviewed September 8, 2013 via mobile

This is a converted country store that serves mostly BBQ dishes. Restaurant environment is of a complex mix of counter service with how you order your food, sit-down with the live music outside, with an interior that's of a country store in western NC. The food that I ordered (Mexican wrap) was okay. It was juicy but it wasn't as spicy as I had thought. My mother order of a BBQ pork sandwich (can't remember the name) was much better than my wrap.

“A Must Visit Place”
Reviewed September 8, 2013

This is an ecletic, funky must visit place. Mostly very unique sandwiches, large BBQ selection. All sorts of BBQ sandwich combinations that include things like gouda cheese, grilled pineapple, peach melba sauce just to mention a few. Non-BBQ sndwiches are also unique like a marshmello fluff, banana & peanut butter sandwich. Large portions ,,, try something different when visiting this restaurant.

“Great sandwiches, tea and deserts.”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

This is a funky kind of place and the owner, Fish, is a real funky kind of guy himself. His food so great and from time to time you will see celebrities in there. His orange cake is to die for. The sandwiches all have funky names. Try it, everyone I have ever sent there goes back and thanks me for telling them about this place. Might be hard to find for tourist and we like that, it's a local place away from the maddening tourist crowd thank god.

“Welcome change from Franchise America”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

Excellent Dining Experience! Wandered from the main attractions to dine here and got a great surprise.

Food is excellent. Service too is top drawer. Very affordable, and I would say that this is good value for the quality and the size of the portions. No table service which is a novelty I enjoyed here (being a 'skin flint' brit - it helpfully circumvents the alien notion of having to tip above 10% (but we did tip here anyway!!)) Food is ordered and collected from the counter. I am unsure if they take reservations as be turned up on the chance we would find space - which we did.

The decor is great and a truly welcome differentiator from corporate chains

There is every chance we would return here.
