“Very nice stay at LBVR!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 16, 2013

Stayed here 3/2/13 to 3/9/13, room #51402, building 5 on the 14th floor. Our unit was a 3 bedroom, 2 bath corner unit. It was very quiet, in fact I never even saw anyone in the hallway even though I was told the resort was 95% full. Elevators were quick and convenient, never a wait. Condo was spacious and very clean. Was it luxurious? No, but I wasn't paying for luxury. Very convenient to all the parks including Sea World and Universal. Huge Walmart right up the street. We had a nice view from our balcony. Very nice to have a washer and dryer. Didn't use the pool are too much as it was cold when we were there. We did use the hot tub, there are 3 by the main pool, very nice. This may sound strange and unimportant, but because of the time of year and the way the pool and buildings are situated, there wasn't any sunshine at the pool in the late afternoon. After a long day at the parks I wanted to relax in the sun and watch the kids in the pool- couldn't. And since it was cold out, you really needed that sun! Oh well, not really a big deal.
Would we stay here again? Probably not just because there are so many other places to stay, but I would have no qualms about recommending LBVR to friends and family.

The room and price make this an excellent value but to be considered a 4.5 star resort would require some improvements: the staff should answer the phone, curtains are needed for the bedrooms, and small amenities (coffee filters, washer detergent) were not provided.

Failure to answer the phone is practically unforgivable - on two occasions we tried to reach someone for help. Face to face, the staff was perfectly helpful; no complaint there.

Sleeping late on vacation is a problem if the morning light is streaming into your bedroom...drapes would make a big difference. Also, we had only four pillows on three beds - totally insufficient for two bedrooms.

There is a Wal-Mart just a mile away so we were able to pick up coffee filters and washer detergent for our clothes. Those are things that were included in a Wyndham timeshare that we stayed at recently.

One of the three TVs in our two bedroom was a thin screen type - which I really do not mind as only true four star hotels offer HD service anyway, so I do not think a TV upgrade would make a difference.

Parking is tight but we stayed at a nearby Hilton HGVC with the same problem (the later you park the more inconvenient.)

For the price, I am willing to accept the upcharge for maid service ($20 or $30 / day depending on the level of service.) That kind of a la carte menu allows you to pay for what you want...seems to be the way the world works nowadays...

Good points:

- Rooms were very large

- Great for families as you have your own kitchen in many of the apartments (saves having to mobilise for three meals per day, especially when you are off to the parks all day).

- Pool was clean and fun for the kids

- Local shops near by include lots of cool clothing outlets like Converse, Gap, Tommy Hilfiger, etc.. and they are super cheap with regular deals. We bought 7 pairs off Converse for $160 on a 30% discount day.

- Travel:
- 20 minutes from Magic/Animal Kingdom
- 25 minutes from Airport
- 30 minutes to Sea World
- 1 hr from Kennedy Space Center ... Basically couldn't be better placed.

- Walmart is 5 minutes car drive away. It's a massive store which stocks anything you can imagine. If you're thinking of taking a push chair then you might want to leave it at home and just buy one at Walmart for $15 instead. We will next time we go to Orlando rather than dragging one across the Atlantic.

Bad points:

- Rooms had dirty carpets. Walking around on our bare feet made them turn black with dirt. It was really hideous and was the reason I've given this 3/5 instead of 4/5. Strictly flipflops/sandals inside.

- No porter service - it's all very self-service on. This is really not that bad, as long as your expectations are set correct in the first instance.

- No restaurants. The pool bar serves small portions of junk food; and there is an Irish Pub in the complex, but we didn't go there so can't comment on it. But it's not like a hotel complex that has 3 or 4 options to eat at.

- A bit 'unfinished' ... the pictures don't show it, but the reality is that the surround lakes are half empty (and look really bad), and the surrounding area is made up of fields that look very patchy and industrial. Again, not a big deal but makes the 4 star rating tenuous.

Last notes:

1. Rent a car. We did and were so glad for it. Relying on shuttles and so forth would have been such a pain as nothing is in walking distance (apart from the shops and the Irish pub). If you don't want to rent a car then probably not the best place to stay. It was a first time driving in the states for us, but it was so easy - as long as you rent a US sat nav!

2. Don't use the maid service.. There's no point. Just keep your filth under control like you would at home! :)

Enjoy!

Room Tip: Try to book into building 4 as it's the newest and has the best kitchen appliances. It's the...

Prior to arrival we informed Trish of concerns for our autistic teen. She went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful stay. Our room was very well maintained. We had a great view of the pool. The grounds of the resort were very well kept. I highly recommend Lake Buena Vista Resort Village & Spa. The resort offers many excellent ammenities and an outstanding value. Most of all they have wonderful employees like Trish.

For the price we felt that the facility was lacking some things. The furniture in the first room was frayed and beat up. For over $200 a night we expected more. We asked to move and the next room was better but the beds were very hard, the TV in one of the bedrooms did not work, carpets still soiled and the bedspreads looked ancient.
The pro's were size of unit, location to Disney, shopping etc. The pool area was nice. Would be ok for a Family to stay as luxury might not be what they are looking for. We were looking for something more luxurious and it did not meet our expectations.

Room Tip: Overheard that building 5 has access to Firework views at night. Not sure if that is true.
