“Open Seasonally”
Reviewed January 24, 2013

Has now changed its name to Tortuga Tavern in line with Pirates of the Caribbean as its close to the ride. Serves great mexican food and has a topping bar. Large seating area too, but can be popular!

“Disorganized queue - not worth the wait”
Reviewed August 22, 2012

Limited selection especially for a vegetarian. Our line was long & it wasn't a very pleasant experience from start to finish. Not typical for WDW.

“probably would have better memories if they hadn't CLOSED just before my husband ordered”
Reviewed June 16, 2012

Tried the Tortuga Tavern (formerly El Pirata...) on our last trip to MK. Went later than anticipated, around 11;40, as we typically try to eat in the early 11 oclock hour. Crowded, and we barely found room at the raised counter for us (2 small children, so high chairs/counter not ideal, but do-able) Because I was holiding seats and watching kids, my husband ordered my food and kids food and brought it to us, mine a vegetarian burrito, kids just pbj crustables. He returned to order his meal and was told They were CLOSED! no explanation but not taking any more orders! It was raining steadily outside, so not sure if that had anything to do with it, but that was quite a disappointment. He hurried to Pecos Bills, which is right around the corner and does, we discoverd, share seating with Tortuga...but they were packed/crowded, so we shared my burrito. It was good enough. The toppings bar makes up for a lot, as there is ample cheese, tomatoes, salsa, lettuce to add to burritos, so really it was a good meal, different from burgers/pizzas/nuggets. Just hard to judge it by that crazy service and abrupt closure. Would probably try it again though

“Average park food”
Reviewed January 30, 2012

My kids like the nachos and hamburgers. I ordered the taco salad and was given a tortilla bowl of seasoned ground beef and pointed towards a fixin's bar to add lettuce, tomato, salsa & cheese. It was fine. Typical Disney park food.

“Loved our burritos and nachos for our Magic Kingdom lunch!”
Reviewed August 25, 2010

The burritos and nachos from El Pirata were the best quick service meal we had during our Disney vacation. The portion sizes are large and filling. The toppings bar allows you to really load up and customize your order. I knock one star off for staff that didn't keep up with cleaning tables between customers and a drippy air conditioner in the ceiling that my husband fell victim to during our meal.
