“Solid choice”
Reviewed July 24, 2013

While we did not visit LI during our most recent trip, we have gone a couple of times in the past. This is probably one of the best overall experiences at Disney. It's never a hassle to get advanced reservations. The food is what I would consider good "down home, comfort food". My kids love getting the Thanksgiving style turkey dinner, as does my hubby. Customer service has been consisitently good. Our first visit there (several years ago), they offered a character dining experience with Micky, Minnie, Goofy, & Pluto dressed in Colonial clothes. It was very cute and our young son loved it. We felt unrushed, relaxed, and it was such a special experience. So sad it is not available anymore!

“Great at-your-table buffet”
Reviewed July 24, 2013

We were a party of six and some were sceptical about eating dinner here but we were all delighted with the choice after the meal. We were tired and hungry when we arrived and were told there would be around a 20 minute wait for a table but we were seated within 10 minutes. The starter is a large bowl of mixed salad with a very tasty dressing which is placed on the table and you serve yourselves. Then you get a large platter of carved beef (which was cooked medium and juicy) pork and turkey with piles of stuffing. This is accompanied by mashed potatoes, green beans with garlic butter, roasted vegetables, mac and cheese and gravy. Despite having 3 men, two of whom were hungry teenagers, we couldn't finish it all but you can ask for the plates to be refilled at no extra cost if you want more. For dessert there is an apple and craisin sponge with vanilla ice cream. Even those people who said they didn't like cooked fruit gobbled it up - it was light and fluffy and the ice cream was good quality with vanilla seeds in. Drinks were refilled time and again and we we stuffed by the end. Our waitress was friendly and everything you could wish for. Would highly recommend for a filling meal.

Air-conditioned, simple menu, NOT busy at all. I simple can't this place enough as a well earned tim out during the middle of a hectic Magic Kingdom day out.

“What's More Excellent Than Excellence?”
Reviewed July 20, 2013

Our family spent the day at the Magic Kingdom recently, and dined at the Liberty Tree Tavern near Frontierland. We'd been there before, and enjoyed the food and atmosphere. But this time, our server, Cheryl Lynn, took the ordinary Disney excellence we've come to take for granted to another level.

We got there with a cast member discount coupon in hand (one of my daughters works at Animal Kingdom), but were told we couldn't use it that night. Strike One. We were then told that the coupon COULD have been used before 6pm, or after 8pm. We couldn't get a reservation before 6pm, and the place closed at 8pm. Strike Two, and the prospects of a sour dining experience were looming large.

However, Cheryl Lynn's attitude, service, and overall effort to make us feel like the most important people in the Magic Kingdom went a long way to overcome that initial disappointment. The food was tasty and plentiful; if you keep asking for more, they'll keep bringing you more. The drinks were re-filled, usually without even asking. And Cheryl Lynn's pleaseant demeanor, on a night when we could see the entire wait staff was pretty slammed, was remarkable. On top of that, she got us a modest discount on our meals ANYWAY, without the coupon, without us even asking.

My daughter reminds us nearly daily how her job at Animal Kingdom is the best work she's ever done. Our server, Cheryl Lynn, is a sterling example of a Disney cast member who loves her job, and lets it show. Well done.
