We visited Tusker House while at Disney's Animal Kingdom. We thought this would be a good way to try different cusine in a buffet manner, knowing that Disney would have selections geared toward a more standard palate. We had made reservations through the Disney reservation system and we were offered reserved seating attendance at the Finding Nemo-The Musical stage presentation later in the afternoon if we booked our lunch during a specific time slot. It was a good decision and the production was very good.
The food at Tusker House was a varied, well prepared, well presented buffet. It combined a number of vegetarian and meat selections. It included couscous, hummus, curry, and familiar vegetables combined in different ways. The apple, bluecheese and walnut salad was great although I doubt if it is traditional African fare. The use of seasonings and spices allowed one to experience and enjoy differing combinations without being overwhelming in flavor or being too spicy for most palates. Everything from the bread selection, through the standard meat selection was enjoyable. there was a small selection of kid friendly choices. The deserts were varied ,plentiful and yummy. We were there on Palm Sunday and the restaurant was only half full. Our servers were friendly and efficient. It was exactly what we had hoped for when we decided to dine there. It was a restful break in the middle of a busy day. The price was moderate for a full buffet meal on Disney property.
