We came here for breakfast before the park opened. We had reservations for 8:05 in the morning. It was really cool to walk to "Africa" with little crowds!

We didnt wait very long to be ushered in. We first took a picture with Donald Duck and then we were seated. Donald stays in the picture taking area, he doesnt visit you during breakfast...but Mickey, Goofy, and Daisy visit! They were all awesome!

THe food was really good too. I loved the biscuits and gravy. My kids loved the doughnuts and chocolate milk. The coffee was also really really good! This was actually the best breakfast of our trip. They also have Mickey waffles! We all were very happy with the selection of the food. The food was fresh and filling!

If you are on the Dining Plan this place is very much worth one of your meals! Priceless meeting characters without waiting in line!

Food was solid. Service was TERRIFIC. Characters didn't have a lot of time as restaurant was crowded, but kids did get pics and autographs with all of them. Sirloin was best I had at Disney.

We reserved a character breakfast to start our Animal Kingdom day. A 10:15 reservation was a bit later than needed (you don't need the 90 minutes travel time from the parking lot they recommend) so anytime after 9AM wouldn't be a huge rush. Still we did the walking tour and got a fast pass set up before even checking into our reservation. Needless to say we were starved! The staff was OK but not as pleasant for check-in as in other parks. The kids got their photo taken with Donald who was dressed in his Safari gear of course. Our table was ready and we were guided to it in the back room. (tip: 18% mandatory gratuity on parties of 6+; worth it but good to know in advance as we knew) Our beverage server was very nice but her thick Japanese accent was a bit tough to hear over the roar of excited and hungry children. We made it through the juice choices (go for the jungle juice!) and into coffees and then headed for the buffet. The quality of food was great and the selection even better. I tried all the african delights I knew I wouldn't get at home and there were other treats (blintzes, quiches, chocolate chip croissant). The fruit bowls could have been a bit riper (melon was hard) and there were no berries to be found but all the pastry, hot items, granola toppings were great. We're not huge eaters so we certainly didn't make more than 2 trips but for the personal attention from Mickey, Minnie and Goofy at our table during breakfast and our kids faces it was WELL worth it! True it was the most expensive breakfast the 6 of us have ever had but it is Disney so we were expecting it. Tip - for the parent who is taking photos put the kids at the outside of the table and yourself next to them so when you have to pop up quickly you have space to do so.

This was the only character event that my family did. The characters where easily accessible and went from table to table. The food and service was very good. A great way to start your day off in the Animal Kingdom.

We made our lunch reservation 4 weeks out, but we're able to make last minute changes with no problems. A reservation simply means priority over walk-in customers with this restaurant and not necessarily any VIP treatment. There was one line to check-in for reservations and outside table service (which made it appear longer). People without reservations are directed to a different area. FYI - If you have small children with a stroller, be sure to park the stroller before getting in line. Otherwise you may be asked to unload & park the stroller then return to the line. Once we checked in, we were given a pager and directed to take one on one pictures with Donald. This was a MUCH shorter line than you'll find in the parks and on Disney cruises. There were only 2 families in front of us. We then waited 5-7 minutes for our table. We were seated and our drink order was taken quickly. We were visited by the head chef, which is the norm for people with food allergies. The chef escorted our family around the buffet and pointed out restricted items. He was even so kind to provide our son with a dessert within his dietary guidelines. The food quality was good with a wide variety to choose from and service was the quality you'd expect from Disney. All of the characters (Goofy, Donald, Mickey & Daisy) were friendly and spent an adequate time with each family. They even gathered all the children in our room and put on a short musical parade. We never felt rushed and I even noticed one family stay through two character rotations so that their children could meet each character twice. As we were leaving I did noticed that our dining room was smaller and a bit more secluded. I preferred it to the larger dining room. It would seem like the children would be made to wait in anticipation as the characters made their way through the larger dining area. Maybe that's good, maybe not so good depending on the child (just an observation). Go with an open mind and enjoy the moment. I wasn't quite sure what to expect (I don't particularly care for buffets), but was very pleased in the end.
