“Nice quiet walk”
Reviewed November 18, 2010

Best to enter the north entrance to the park (you have to drive through residential area to get there and there are no signs to follow). There is a map of trails at each entrance but as you get on a trail there are several crossing trails which makes it difficult to know where the trails lead let alone to know if you are even on the trail you want to be on--could be easy to get lost. There is only one small area in the park off a trail that is adjacent to the lake. The park does not appear to be heavily attended but looks like it would be great for horse riders

“A beautiful, relaxing & inexpensive day out for all”
Reviewed November 29, 2009

The hiking here is suitable for all. There are 3 main trails to follow - 1 mile; 3 mile & 6 mile. The paths are wide and, in the case of the 6 mile trail, clearly marked. There are toilet facilities at the start and the mid point of the trail which was extremely useful, and a substantial picnic area near Lake Lizzie. We completed the trail in late November but we still made some interesting sitings: a pair of Bald Eagles soared effortlessly above; we had a fantastic photo opportunity of a Red Shouldered Hawk; we saw Gopher Tortoises, a host of beautiful butterflies and dragonflies; wild turkeys crossed our path and others.
It was a peaceful day away from the theme parks - and there was no charge!

“Great way to see Florida nature up close”
Reviewed April 13, 2009

Wonderful hiking trails. Many to choose from depending on your experience or how far you would like to hike. Ample parking for horse trailers or large hiking groups to meet. Great place to start an exercise group and enjoy nature in the process! Restrooms are provided near the parking area. Be sure to bring water and your cell phone for emergencies. Law enforcement/caretaker on site so it makes you feel a little safer in case of emergencies. On various different hikes I have seen rabbits, deer, eagles, various birds and beautiful native florida plants. Nice picnic area by the lake at the bass Hwy side. Would love to see another rest/picnic area somewhere on the trail closer to the old Melbourne side.
