“Nice meal in a lovely setting”
Reviewed January 24, 2014

We travelled to Disney for our honeymoon last year so decided to book a number of signature dining meals for the occasion, Jiko was one of them.

Let me start by saying that if you are not staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge then make sure you allow time before or after your meal to take a look around the hotel and at the animals outside. You won’t be disappointed, it’s pretty amazing. The attention to detail is second to none.

Also if you are using the Disney bus service from another hotel (as we did) allow plenty of time as this hotel is quite remote and it took some time to get there. I would allow 1 hour to be on the safe side.

Now to the restaurant - the service was a little slow, although very friendly, and we were slightly put out that at the time of booking they asked if it was a special occasion and we informed them that it was our honeymoon, however, it wasn’t mentioned during our meal. At the other restaurants we booked they made quite a fuss of the occasion and gave us complementary drinks or chocolates so I feel that this is an area Jiko could work on. That being said the waiters made us feel very welcome regardless so it didn’t take away from the experience.

The menu is pretty unusual which was a nice change. The chicken flatbread was delicious and a very good size for sharing. I don’t feel you could go wrong with any of the mains as they all looked amazing and my Crème Brule dessert was melt in the mouth.

Overall it was a very nice meal in a lovely setting and we would defiantly eat here again.

“Monkfish was awful. Filet was edible”

Terribly disappointed at the cost and quality. They removed the fish from the bill and the cost was still over $120. Very disappointed.

“Closed another restaurant....and they were so gracious”
Reviewed January 21, 2014

We ate here to celebrate my son's birthday with a large group-we had reservations and my son and his friends were late but the staff was so nice about it, assuring us it was alright. Great seat overlooking the whole restaurant, and our waiter Nasser was top notch. We had lots of questions, (so many herbs, vegetables you never heard of) and all our questions were answered very well. Food was very good, with top honors going to the Roxanne’s Kitfo Leb Leb Flatbread, topped with Beef Carpaccio. This was a looooong meal and I felt bad as we DID close the place but they were all smiles and genuinely seemed to want us to have the best time ever. Which we did! A wonderful way to celebrate, stretching our food experiences and making new friends.

“Loved it!”
Reviewed January 20, 2014

My husband and I were staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and have done so on several occasions, but never tried Jiko. On this trip we had a sub-par experience at Boma and thought we would finally make the plunge and try Jiko. We had heard the flatbreads were great, so we went the "inexpensive" route and just went in for those for dinner.

We walked up at 5 p.m. for an early dinner without reservations and they were able to easily accommodate us within 5 mins.

Our waitress was fantastic and even though we only ordered the flatbreads each, still gave us the same attention and great service that she did to others spending a fortune.

The flatbreads were fantastic and would definitely return to try again.

The atmosphere was beautiful. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

4 of us started our 4 day Animal Kingdom Lodge KidaniVillage Village Vacation Club vacation with dinner at Jiko.

A drink at the small bar then off to our table. Our waitress Dawn was stellar, and part of the excellent experience.

Birthday hubby loved his birthday "booster dessert" of choco (picture) dessert. Our scallops, Berkshire pork, flat breads and South African wines were fabulous.

Milk tart, coffee creme brulee, chocolate green tea safari, all delicious with
