“nice, but slow service”
Reviewed October 3, 2013

not authentically African but interesting african-inspired creations none the less. Good selection of South African wines. Rather disappointing that inspite of having been made to book for a very specific time slot (7:35 pm) months ago and having provided all our data then, we were made to provide a lot of information all over again and had to wait 15 minutes for a table. On top of that service once seated was very slow - the waiter took ages to come back for the order - but having said that we did appreciate his initiative in separating the bread serving for our milk-intolerant son and also suggesting an off-menu dessert for him. Overall a good experience.

“A treasure!”
Reviewed October 3, 2013

I LOVE this place. It is beautiful and the food is very good. The wine selection is amazing. I like to go earl and have a glass of wine at the small wine bar. The bartenders know their stuff and I like to have them recommend new wines for me. Sometimes I like to assemble a meal, tapas style, from the appetizer list. They are always happy to meet my needs. Be sure to allow some extra time to see the lobby and pool area. Relax by the firepit in a rocker and enjoy the animals that like to come out in the cool of the evening.

“Delicious!”
Reviewed October 2, 2013

This was a wonderful, if not slightly pricey, restaurant in the Animal Kingdom lodge. The atmosphere is great, and the dining room is large, but the seating makes it feel intimate. The food was great, although a little mainstream. We had wild boar, scallops and braised short ribs - all very delicious. It would have been fun to see a few more inventive items on the menu - more African specific, but I understand it is Disney and they cater to a mainstream audience. The drinks were all African - lucky South Africa makes great wines or there wouldn't have been a wine list! The cocktails could be more inventive - using cool ingredients from the continent.

The one disappointment was dessert. The chocolate - everything had chocolate - tasted odd to me. But my dinning companions enjoyed their desserts, so what'd I know?

I would definitely return to this restaurant.

“Jiko is like dining in a different land......”
Reviewed September 30, 2013

Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge is a remarkable place and Jiko is part of this experience. Before dinner we watched the wild creatures out on the savannah right from the resort observation balcony - it's like being in a different land. Shortly thereafter we were in a beautifully themed restaurant. The place is stunning! The dining options are African in nature, but limited. Little seafood. The spices are exotic. The wine list is extensive. The prices are "wild" too. Something to do for the experience, but I would not say we'll make this a habit.

“Great Anniversary dinner. signature dining at Animal Kingdom Lodge resort”

We had a great server. Got a free cheese tray appetizer. One of our favorite things to get at Disney restaurants. Wine room. Nice decor. Really good rolls with honey butter. One of our favorites.
