Based on TA reviews we tried Jiko for dinner on a Friday evening. I reserved a table online a few weeks prior and our waiter on arrival told us that it was actually a slow night, with just over 200 reservations when there can be a few hundred more on a busy night. Anyway, I'd recommend booking in advance so you are not disappointed. It really is a worthwhile culinary experience. The hotel itself is fun to wander around and if you are there before sunset you can catch a glimpse of the giraffes and zebras from the patio. We were seated promptly and our waiter was a friendly and helpful young man from Casablanca. He spent time describing the menu and recommending the vegetarian options. I directed my husband to the TA recommendations of the crabcakes and short ribs and he loved them. We also enjoyed the flatbread. My veggie options were delicious, especially some pastry triangles stuffed with spinach and spices (can't recall the name). The environment is fun and the food is different and a pleasure on the taste buds. We will definitely return and I would highly recommend the restaurant. We only had two nights for dinner choices and we were tempted to return the second night but tried Hemingway's instead. Afterwards we wished we'd returned to Jiko.
