“Great atmosphere, lovely experience”
Reviewed January 13, 2013

We chose to have my birthday dinner here, and we were not disappointed. In typical Disney fashion, the decor was just fantastic. We stayed at Kidani, the sister resort to Jambo House where Jiko is, and we can't recommend highly enough that folks make it a point to stop over to Jambo if they have the chance. Waitstaff mostly folks from Africa, something we very much enjoyed. Excellent service, and really enjoyed the different flavors. We sat next to a gentleman who we heard tell the waiter he didn't want an adventurous dinner - if that describes you, feel free to skip Jiko. We loved the various breads and dipping sauces appetizer - just great. Complaints about portion size? True, you don't get a ridiculous amount of food - if all you can eat buffets are your thing, head next door to Boma, which is just that. We felt we got plenty of food and hated to leave some behind - we were stuffed. Enjoy!

“Short Rib Heaven”
Reviewed January 12, 2013 via mobile

Arriving early for our reservation at Jiko, I thought we would have a long wait, however, we were seated within 10 minutes. Fortunately, it was long enough for the bartender to recommend a great wine with our meal. Jiko has a excellent wine selection that the staff is willing to share the affordable best bets. We ended ordering a bottle since Jiko allows you to take the unfinished portion home. We tried the wahoo and pork belly salad and it was excellent. Rather spicy, but the strange combination was incredible. My entree of the braised short rib was doubly incredible as it was ultra tender and so delicious. The side portions served with the entree are small, so diners looking for value may be disappointed. Overall, a memorable meal.

“Wonderful Evening”
Reviewed January 10, 2013

My wife and I dined at Jiko a few months ago and it was a great evening. First off, the cuisine is very unique but there are plenty of things for people who do not have an adventurous palate. The service was great, our server was knowledgeable and very professional. One of the best aspects of the evening was the wine list. It focuses on South Africa due to the theme of the restaurant. They have a wide selection of both white and reds from South Africa, it was a great change of pace from the usual nice wine list of mainly California and French wines.

I would like to echo several other reviews and let you know that the Taste of Africa appetizer is FANTASTIC! It is a must try.

“Disappointed”
Reviewed January 10, 2013

I'm all about trying different types of food but this place was so overpriced for the small amounts of not so good tasting food. Never again!

“Great Meal”
Reviewed January 10, 2013

Meals were prepared as ordered. 12yo even liked the couscous! Fish was perfect and well seasoned, steaks were tender and juicy. Service was pleasant and explanations of dished were completed and understandable.
