Description: Santiago's Bodega presents a unique tasting experience featuring small plates that hopscotch between decadent (a warm Camembert wedge topped with sauteed garlic, onions, almonds, apricots, chopped dates, bell peppers), refreshing (yellow fin tuna, avocado, mango ceviche), exotic (lamb patties with fresh thyme, sherry, lemon zest) and just plain comfort-food-delicious (Roman meatballs on angel hair, or fried potatoes in a spicy sauce). As nothing costs over $15, there’s no major commitment, and if the relationship doesn't work, move along to the next selection. The menu’s ideal for sharing and for mixing up in endless combinations. Alternate between chevre tartlet, spanakopita, or smoked salmon carpaccio. Invent your own meal. Dining in such a way permits the rules of wine pairings to step aside like snooty impostors, and what goes best with dinner is exactly what tempts you. Santiago’s Bodega is a good-natured, low-key, food-lovers hangout, a neighborhood restaurant. - Margit Bisztray

“Good food. Good wine. Service? Good God!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 2, 2014 via mobile

Love the original in Key West, so was excited to try the Orlando restaurant a little closer to home. Same great menu, same great wine list. Unfortunately service was lacking. Significantly. Stood at the front for several minutes upon arrival without being acknowledged even though there were two hostesses and only one was tied up. Finally just walked into the restaurant to find our party on our own. Our waitress was more than a bit scattered - semed totally overwhelmed by simple requests and was extremely inattentive. Had to reorder bread several times and chase her down to pay our bill. In a place like this one shouldn't need to manage one's wait staff. Hopefully just an off night.

“Good food, watered down sangria”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 2, 2014

Tapas style servings, very well prepared but the Red Sangria was too watered down. Very nice atmosphere, a bit loud and slow service, I guess because it was crowded.

“Some of the best tapas ever”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 24, 2014

The tapas dishes were phenomenal. The trio (hummus, etc.) was outstanding, and a really great value at $8. The physical space is also very cool, it's a great layout and would be a great place for an evening out with friends. I did find the service a bit lacking. They were not attentive, and all the wait staff seemed to be flustered most of the time. They weren't unfriendly or anything, the place just didn't seem to have proper service policies, training, whatever. Also, it's very, very loud so it's not a good place to go if you looking for a quiet evening. But out with friends, it's tough to beat it.
