This restaurant was recommended by foodie friends and we visited for our traditional last night of the holiday special meal and yes, most of the food was delicious ( our party of 7 all had fish main courses). However, due to the successful hard sell of our server we agreed to share a starter platter - having seen the size of some of the plates coming out we should have been smarter - and so it proved as we were all absolutely stuffed by the time our main courses came out. There is a balance to be achieved in portion size and we all felt Moonfish erred on the far side of too huge!! To such an extent that none of us particularly enjoyed the meal overall.
Our server seemed only interested in advising the provenance of our food and 'selling' us drinks and volume of food rather than assisting us with queries about the actual dishes/sauces etc. Fair enough, that's the bottom line but I expect my queries to be answered about a dish the first time I ask, not the third. Once the order was taken, we were slightly disappointed with the attentiveness of service after that.
Overall, we are unlikely to return which is a shame as there are obviously talented chefs in the kitchen.
