“Awful Food”
Reviewed April 14, 2013

Ordered General Tsos and Broccolo Beef. Could not differentiate between the awful gelatinous cuts of meat. Also the sauces in no way resembled what those dishes are supposed to be. It was plain disgusting. Should have known when a friend advised me she once found a paper towel in her takeout.

“Excellent Cantonese with Super Fresh Seafood”
Reviewed April 13, 2013

Located in the Winn Dixie Shopping Center, Lam's is an old-school favorite. Very attentive service. Fresh veggies as well as gluten free entrees, plus seafood that could not be fresher. You'll notice n umerous tanks as you walk in-the nets hanging overhead are there for a reason. Yes-select, point, and your fish dinner will be flopping in the net and sizzling in the pan in a few minutes. The menu has all the standard pork, chicken and beef dishes you would expect- but not prepared in a blandly americanized way. The dishes taste like you're in a Cantonese restaurant in Hong Kong, not Orlando. No MSG-that's nice too. The prices are reasonable. The atmosphere is only so-so. But, then again, you can't eat atmosphere. The food rfeally is great and portions plentiful.

“Very Good!!!”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

The service and food were good and enjoyed the atmosphere. I would rate them as B+. The menu was typical chinese with some house specialties. Although a bit pricey, the food was very good and tasty.

“Still disappointed - third time was not a charm!”
Reviewed December 26, 2012

I had been in this restaurant three times, today being the third time on Christmas Day. My wife and I ate dinner there the previous two times as visitors to Orlando before they changed to serving dimsum, and we were not happy with either the quality of food or services both times. I reminded myself not to return there again, not even once after we moved to Orlando area permanently three years ago. After a lot of persuasion from my sister, also a transplant from the north, insisting that their dimsum were better or equal to other local restaurants, and they had improved with the services, we decided to give it one more try. Well, we left unhappy after the meal, including the sister who talked us into it in the first place.
My wife and I were the first of the party of ten arrived first at about 11:30, my wife was told rudely "to wait until the rest of the party arrived", although half the restaurant was empty. There was no space for customers to wait inside the restaurant because there were only a bench for three next to the fish tanks just inside the front door, so we had to wait outside. I noticed that the boss (owner?) was the same rude person from the previous two visits, and he was just as brisk this time. Within five minutes, four others from our party arrived, so we were shown to a big table at the far end of the restaurant. After we got our tea, we sat there for good ten minutes, waiting for the dimsum carts to come by our table. The restaurant started to fill up, and the carts were never able to pass the first five tables before they ran out of food after they came out from the kitchen. At this time, the "boss" came and asked us how much longer before our other guests arrived. I pointed out to him that we actually wanted some dimsum, but the carts never got to our table. He just walked off without trying to facilitate the carts to reach the our part of the restaurant.
To be honest, there were a couple of very friendly and hardworking wait persons who took our orders off the menu and brought us dimsum directly from the kitchen, making the lunch more bearable. As for the food, it was hit and miss. Out of the nine or ten different types of dimsum we consumed, three of them were above "Orlando" average, three or four were about par with others, and three of them were absolutely terrible. We just those bad ones on the table. The two noodle dishes we ordered from the menu were below expectations. We had a few other ordered items and nothing were noteworthy.
The bottom line was: a good restaurant is more than just good food. The services attitude and atmosphere were just as important to make a meal better, and to bring back repeating customers. In this case, while the food quality was about par by Orlando standard, the rudeness of the boss (and some wait persons), as well as the harried atmosphere, making the experience unsatisfactory.
