We stayed four nights recently at the Cabana Bay Beach resort while visiting Universal Studios on a family vacation. We were very pleased with the hotel. We rented a family tower suite with a pool side view. There is a sitting area with a small sofa bed that my younger son claimed as his upon arrival. It's small but provided a perfect amount of space for an eleven year old. We had a small kitchenette with a fridge and microwave sufficiate for preparing snacks in the room between activities, and on the other side if a divider, two double beds that were very comfortable. The rooms are super clean, new, and modern-and the fifties theme is adorable and prevalent throughout the entire hotel. The oldies music that plays throughout is a very cute touch. The pools are great and the lazy river is a great way to relax after spending the day at the park. The Bayliner dinner is a food court near the lobby with a good variety and is pretty reasonably priced.
Two tips-
1) Bring your own tubes for the lazy river- otherwise you will have to buy theirs and they are overpriced. They will blow them up for you at the little tube hut near the pool with no charge.
2) The bowling alley is a lot of fun but it is popular and often had a wait. They will allow you put your name on the waiting list and go have diner and if you leave your number they will call you when your lane is ready.

We had a blast on this trip and would stay at this resort again.

Traveled with family including hubby & 2 teenagers between July 16-23. Stayed at Americana.

The good stuff:
- Arrival: no issues here. Service was great.
- Free wifi: keeps the teens happy
- Shuttle buses: ran very frequently and smoothly
- Pool area: busy but we found beach chairs each time we went. Towels were always plentiful
- Hertz rental car on site: this door to door option came in handy for transportation from/to the airport. It was cheaper for us to rent a car for the day then to book shuttle service for all 4 of us. Taylor at the Hertz desk was excellent. Plus, we are able to do shopping at Target to pick up food/water and other necessities. Thanks to the reviews here, we bought inflatables for the lazy river at Target for substantially lower price.
- Location: close to lots of outside restaurants/shops and outlet malls. We took advantage when we had the rental car.
- Souvenir shops: they take returns!!! I was surprised. Nice if we changed our minds or find something better. Would like to recognize Carmen for her wonderful service and humour. She was such a pleasure to speak to. Prices were high but I guess that's typical for resorts.
- Souvenir delivery: delivery to the hotel vs carrying it around the theme parks was great. It's next day delivery so keep that in mind.

The could use improvement stuff:
- Maid service: we opt out of daily maid service, trying to be mindful not to be wasteful. The cleaning folks always checked in if we needed more towels/coffee etc so that was fantastic. However, when we did get our room cleaned, the bathroom was completely missed. The garbage wasn't cleared and the old towels on the floor weren't picked up.
- Rooms: a bit tight. We got the standard room with 2 queens. After luggages were parked there wasn't much moving room left. The bathroom could use a fan. With 4 ppl eating fast food daily and one hubby who has high metabolism. Ventilation would be nice.
- Resort food: selection could be improved. We went to the diner a couple of nights and it's the same menu. Prices are a bit high for the (just ok) quality.
- Parking: no issues finding parking. We did have issues with the entry/exit stations. Sometimes it didn't work so we had to call for assistance and wait for someone to let us in/out. It's a pain when you are in a hurry.

The not so good stuff:
- Rooms had thin walls. We were woken up regularly at 7am by the family with small kids beside us. Vacation for us means sleeping in sometimes so this was frustrating. No issues with the family, just the lack of noise insulation.
- AAA/CAA discounts??? I understand it's up to the travelers to do research on available discounts but it would be nice if places like Universal help out their vacationers by having some indication that they are partnered with corporations for discounts. On the 2nd last day of our stay we found out AAA/CAA members get a discount on foods and souvenirs. There was no indication anywhere and none of the cashiers asked when we were checking out. When suggested that it would be nice if cashiers asked, we were told they are not suppose to ask/mention it! After all the money families spend at the resort and parks, it just left a bad taste in my mouth, knowing they prefer to squeeze every hard working penny from their guests.

Overall it was a good stay. Staff were excellent and services were all very well organized and ran smoothly.

Just remember to use your AAA/CAA for discounts if you have it!!! 10% off food at Universal resorts and theme parks. 10% off souvenirs if you spend over $50 or 15% off when you spend over $75.

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay. We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed so many of our amenities including the convenience of our Hertz desk, our Complimentary Shuttle Service to Universal Orlando and our pool areas. We also appreciate you acknowledging our Team Members and their efforts in providing awesome service. Our bathrooms do have a ventilation system; however, it is not the typical system you find in other resorts. This system pulls the air from a fan deep in the air duct and replaces it with air through the closet. This eliminates any fan noise that you would typically hear.

Thank you for your honesty. Through feedback such as yours we are able to better understand our guests’ expectations and work on exceeding them in the future.

We certainly hope you enjoy all future stays at Cabana Bay.

Have a swell day,

Our entire family enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The resort is very nice the staff was very friendly. The kids were really excited by the whole style and layout. There are 2 pools and one with a very nice lazy river. If you're staying for Universal this is the place to go if you have a family. I really enjoyed not having to drive the entire time we were there. The shuttle buses ran every 10 minutes from 6AM to 2AM back and forward to Universal. The only recommendation I have is to try to get a room closer to the lobby some of the buildings can be far for example we were in the Thunderbird. I think there were about 5 different buildings. Overall highly recommended and would stay there again!

Room Tip: Try to get a room closer to the lobby area.

My friend and I took our kids for two nights July 9 and July 10. We had four kids and us two adults so we got a very cute, clean, quite modern looking room that slept 6. Two full beds and then the sleeper sofa in the sitting area. The room was not huge, sitting area and kitchen were tight but it accommodated us for what we needed. We stayed in the Starlight Building. When we got there we all got changed and went right to the pool area. The kids had a blast with the cool slide that they have that goes into the pool. They had a little splash pad area to that they loved just as much. There is another pool there as well and that is where the lazy river is. The kids LOVED the lazy river! My only complaint with the lazy river is you have to either purchase the tubes to float in or bring your own. We just put the kids in the life jackets they offer there and that made them more buoyant as the floated with the current in the lazy river. It is just surrounded by trees and waterfalls and just simply gorgeous. They really did a great job creating that lazy river. The bars at both pools were nice, I preferred the bar where the big slide was though. Better atmosphere I felt. At night we took the kids to the arcade and they had a blast in there! We had really bad thunderstorms both nights we were there so it was nice to be able to do something with them inside. We tried to go bowling there but it was a four hour wait! Say what!!' There are only 10 lanes and like thousands of rooms so it is only to be expected especially when it is pouring outside. We just mosied back to the room though and ordered pizza and had it delivered. It was good! We never had to leave the resort the two days we were there. Which was nice.! Our truck was parked in the same spot and never moved.! We were going to go to universal city walk as they offer complimentary shuttles but the kids were just to to tired. We will def stay there again. It's a place for families with kids for sure.! If you are looking for a place to get away and not have a ton of kids around I would say this place is not for you. Lol. It is super clean, all the staff were super pleasant and I would recommend it to any family out there in a heartbeat!

Let me start by saying the customer service from the moment we pulled in was top notch. These folks really know how to impress. It was truly a step back in time. Not only did we enjoy our time at the parks, but we found enough things to do n the hotel. From bowling to the game room to the pool. Iys been almost 2 months since we've been and I still miss the place. We have planned 2 more trips there this year. If you go buy your annul passes. You will be blown away by how much you will save of of your room.
