We picked this hotel as we had stayed at it a few years ago with no complaints. The location is great. We take a hire car, but you could easily stay here without a car and get to all the attractions/shopping using the trolley bus. Their is a KFC next door and a Walgreens in the next block, 2 minute walk, where you can get lovely coffee and supplies such as milk and cereal.

The hotel has undergone some refurbishment work. The rooms have been updated and the age old issue of dampness (very common in Florida) has been dealt with by putting de-humidifiers in the room.

The air con is relatively quiet, a plus if like me you are a light sleeper.

The maid service comes every day, although timing can be a bit haphazard, often our room still hasn't been cleaned at 5pm. Now in the height of summer that's fine, as most folk will be out all day at the parks, but at this time of year the parks close early and the sun goes away from the hotel pool at 4pm (we are there to sunbathe and shop).

I was a little surprised that our beds were not changed during our 8 night stay. However, the towels were changed every day.

Nice big flat screen tv in the room, along with coffee maker, fridge and microwave. The bed comfort was to my liking - so no complaints about the room.

The staff were also very nice.

The one issue I would raise is that as part of the upgrade the hotel has replaced its plastic pool loungers with wooden ones. They might look nicer, but without some sort of padded mats they are extremely uncomfortable. We had to go and buy mats for the loungers, since we planned to spend our days at the pool. Walgreens next door sell lilo's for $5, so it's not the end of the world, but annoying nonetheless.

I would reckon we will stay here again next year.

Room Tip: Off season the pool facing rooms are quieter.

In town for state playoffs and I got this hotel by using the name-withheld mystery "name-brand" deal option through Expedia. It was listed as a 3-star with FREE breakfast, FREE parking, and FREE wifi. When we showed up, we were charged an additional RESORT FEE for parking and wifi. And there would be a charge for breakfast, so that was a lie, too. (We won't be eating here.)

The hotel is adequately clean and comfortable for the cost (at the deal rate, not the published rate). The front desk clerk was...efficient. No "customer service" was evident. The maids saw me coming down the hallway with a luggage trolley and still wheeled their cart into a position completely blocking the hall and then disappeared into a room.

Although it is billed as family friendly, there are signs in all the hallways abruptly stating that children are not allowed to walk unaccompanied through the motel. (Not that mine would, but to list itself as family-friendly, this is another miss.)

I just keep repeating to myself "You get what you pay for. You get what you pay for..."

as others who had been moved from acono lodge to Monumental, we were concerned thatwe were not going to like it. we need not have worried, it is a good value hotel, clean and in a good position on international drive. We did walk to Universal x2, the weather was not at all good, but it was dry and this aided us , as being in our 60s walking in the florida heat is getting harder. the walk took us 30 min, and a bit longer walking back to hotel after a long day out. the pool at the monumental was ok. as said before decking was now in situe but did little to enhanse . would not want to sit out for long. room large and comfortable, but was in need of a fwe things being sorted ie gap under door, beds not very comfortable {new bedding would enhance} Bathroom compact but adiquate Black Angus has the best Breakfast we have had in florida, {and we have been going some 20 years} Staff very friendly as were the staff at the hotel. room very quiet appart from when unconsiderate guests were comming in late at night. no noise from Idrive or high 4 . room 216 side of hotel. would deffinatley visit again .

Room Tip: side, second floor

We have stayed in this hotel many times in the past. It is a very good value Hotel, the staff are friendly, the pool area is good and it is heated, the rooms are typical of the area. They have a Black Angus joined to the Hotel, which is ok.The position of the Hotel is its strong point, if you have universal tickets you do not need a car as it is only a short walk away,we are from the uk and a walk like this is more refreshing than driving,it also allows you to have a drink in the park.We have stayed in a room which was to noisy before and we asked to be moved and they moved us to a quiet room without any problems. You can also walk from this Hotel to many good restaurants, including one of our favorites the Red Lobster. Finally if you want a water park Wet n Wild is across the road, you can even walk across in your swimmies! All in all a great value for the money Hotel. One more thing they do charge you a surcharge on leaving which is about two dollars a day, some kind of local tax.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room not overlooking i drive.

Excellent location, beautiful pool, however it is getting some new decking and the pool bar is shut down at the moment. AC worked very well. The was a dehumidifier in the room, that was a first for me at a hotel, but without some type of central air I guess its necessary for the humidity. Friendly front desk staff, room staff were by at least twice a day to bring fresh towels or empty garbage cans. Wireless internet worked perfectly in our room, we were on the second floor overlooking the pool area. Rooms ok, did have a 40 inch lcd tv, fridge, microwave. The attached restaurant Black Angus seemed to be always busy in the evening, we ate there once and it was good, the bar area too was nice. Our bartender Emily was very friendly. Beds are very hard. The hotel definitely needs a refurbishment as far as beds, and in general some finishes, trims that sort of thing. As others have stated there is a odor at certain points in the hallways, although the first floor was perfect, the second floor hallway had a maybe a musky or chemical type smell, but was not noticeable in the rooms with the dehumidifier or AC going. There is about a 1 inch gap under each door, I assume its there because there are tiles in the entrance where there used to be carpet, but the gap should be made much smaller. Our room at least had an exposed wire running from the air conditioner unit, I don't know if all the rooms are left the same way, and it you walk the hallways you can see a wire here and there that is exposed and should be covered. I would stay here again if the price was right and I was looking for a clean hotel in a great location. As far as fees, we paid $2.50 a day for a resort fee, which includes the fridge and microwave, internet. There was no $100 cash only safety deposit as listed on some websites.

It's a normal hotel with convinient location to reach main Orlando destinations like Universal Studios, Disney World or Premium Outlets. The room was spacious but without a fridge. The hotel has a swimming pool but we didn't have a chance to use it. It also has big parking lot and the first hotel in our Florida trip with elevator.

We stayed at the hotel after arriving at about 3:00 am after visiting Universal's Halloween Horror Nights. The hotel is incredibly convenient to the park and the front desk was fully staffed at that hour to check us in. The hotel was pretty clean and decently comfortable. You can't beat it for the price.
