“Not your typical Marriott”
Reviewed May 15, 2011

Having become used to Concierge floor/lounge of most Marriott Hotels, imagine my surprise that this grand hotel does not offer these services. Used to steep room service etc prices, this one takes the cake with $25/valet parking (or a long hike from remote self parking), breakfast at or above $22.00 per person...the list goes on. As a gold member, I probably will continue to use Marriott Hotels but certainly NOT this over priced hotel.

Room Tip: Marriott World Center...definitely better

I want to start off by saying that i stayed in this hotel because i looked at the past ratings and they looked good. Dont be fooled. Thed first day i arrived my room was not ready to be checked into. So i had to wait several hours after my 7 hour flight in the waiting room because there is nothing aroung. The next day my wife noticed she had alot of little bites oll over her body. I thought it might of been some kind of bug but i was wrong sure enough the next day i hade a bunch of bite marks in a certain pattern. of three bites in a row. i reserched it on google and i found out thats how bed bugs bit. there called breakfast, lunch and dinner bugs. i called and complained so they closed the room up and had a lab suppossidly inspect the room. i was so pissed of with the way they reponded telling me that every hotel deals with bed bugs and theres nothing they can do about it. bed bugs are disgusting... if u dont want to be bitten all overe your body or really itchy dont stay here..

Room Tip: Dont stay here unless you want bed bugs all over .

I have stayed here 3 times now in as many years and it has become my first choice in Orlando. The location is perfect for Seaworld and Aquatica and is a good central point if you are planning visits to both Disney and Universal parks.

The staff are genuinely friendly and the wait staff in the Citroen restaurant came and said hello if they had served us on previous days. The lazy river pool complex is excellent and even though we were staying over the Easter holiday it wasn't too busy.

The rooms a very comfortable and the air conditioning is efficient and not too noisy. The hotel lobby smells wonderful and is an excellent way to get you into the holiday mood.

The grounds are lovely and when it gets too hot to walk outside you can take a peaceful stroll through the hotel to the Ritz Carlton if you want a change of scene.

Easy quick check in with very friendly service. Room was very nice as I expected it would be. Nice shopping and eating options in the lobby area. Pool was great. Lazy river was relaxing. Wife and I went at night from 8-11 and it wasn't busy at all. Excellent gym if you like to workout. Quick drive to Disney and Universal.

I would recommend for business or family travel.

This was my families second time staying at the JW Marriott and it was just as good as I remembered. We reserved an executive suite which was the perfect size for my family of 5. Although we weren't in the room much. We spent most of our days at the pool. the lazy river is great for the kids, there is also a basketball hoop in the pool. The resort is about 15 minutes form Disney parks which can seem a bit long after a along day walking around. There is a cafe at the hotel next to Starbucks that has great breakfast and lunch sandwiches and pizza to go. We ate at Primo which was good. We had breakfast at Citron which was very good. I really like this hotel and would definitely stay again. We were there for Easter and they had a great egg hunt and an Easter carnival with games, cotton candy, face painting, hair braiding and giveaways.

Great hotel - beautiful, huge lobby and lots of on-site dining options. (More options at the Ritz next door, if you wanted). Gift shop, Starbucks, pastry shop, sushi open air "restaurant" in lobby - It's a restaurant, but not enclosed like a traditional restaurant.
Rooms are normal size and nothing spectacular - we had better and bigger at the basic room at the JW in Hawaii!! We are Marriott platinum members but there is no concierge lounge or breakfast credit that is offered since this Marriott is considered a "resort" - I found this pretty lame, but oh well! Pool is amazing. It's a very, very, VERY lazy river, but fun and relaxing all the same. The pool empties out into 4 pools. One pool has a basketball hoop, the other 2 have nothing and the last is a kiddie/wadding area. We had extra fun by taking our tubes and jumping up and down while in the "river" and creating our own waves... other people in the "river" loved it... everyone was laughing about it! You have to take your floaties up to your room at night (we stuck ours in the tub). If you leave them at the pool, the pool staff pops them. Our first night there the woman who was closing the pool told us to take them as she had to dispose of them - so we took a few. They cost $7.00 there, or you can buy some off-site and bring in. People were borrowing some at were laying around the pool (probably cause they thought the hotel owned them) and when I saw someone using ours, I was fine with it, but I guess other people could be mad about it. When you buy them, you write your name on it with permanent marker. People can smoke at the pool so be aware of this. There was also a lot of drinking going on as they have a "buy 4, get 2 beer free" deal. There was a lot of swearing going on as well ("f" word), which I was surprised at. I'm sure if I talked to a manager, they would have asked the customers to lower their voices or stop swearing. Tennis courts, golf, bikes and spa are available. Yes you pay for parking and self parking is not that far away - perhaps a 1 minute walk - we went during the NorthEast shool spring break and between that and a Rainbow Cleaner conference the hotel was sold out... and we still found parking super close to the hotel - I'd pass on the valet unless you really need it. Rent a car - a guy was trying to decide to go off site for dinner - a 5 min. taxi ride was going to cost him $40 each way!! There is nothing around this Marriott so it's eat in or taxi someplace. Prices are high of course because you're there and they got you. Menu at pool was basic, but good. Nachos ($12) can easily feed 2-3 people as a meal. Kids meals at the pool were great and $10. The Ritz's pool offers free bottles of water and free fresh whole fruit and their lobby has complimentary ice tea or lemonade. JW pool has big coolers and cups and lobby has water w/ lemon/orange rinds. We bought our Universal tickets in lobby - she is a rep. for Universal so you pay the same price as at the gate and it's only a 10 min. car ride to Universal down back streets so you're not on the interstate - NICE! We dined off-site every night - Benihana's, California Pizza Kitchen, PF Chang and Cheesecake Factory. We were here 5 nights and we only left for the day once to go to Universal. The kids loved the pool that much so we didn't do anything else! Ping pong table, tetherball, volleyball and special kids activities were available at the pool. We didn't do the fire pit at all and I thought there were hammocks on site, but we didn't see any at all (we walked the whole Ritz/JW property). Turn down service at night was nice with chocolates and a card that told you what the weather would be like the next day. Beautiful grounds. Great stay!!!

fab hotel. had trouble with room not having a safe and view. We were moved next day. Front desk hit and miss ., The lady checking us out was a bit aloof but generally staff were very good. Lazy river was fun. Cant understand car park charge. As no one else would want to park near there. Would go back.
