Very disappointed! The lobby was beautiful so we were so excited to see our room. We had a 3 bedroom villa that needed some updating but first impression was good. Then as the week went by there were bugs crawling all over counters in the kitchen in both rooms and on the floors. Our main door was open after we got back from a long day at the park! Called front desk and they were rude about the whole thing....Making up excuses.. They did get an exterminator which really impressed me until we learned to find dirty toe nail clippings(adult size) in both of our kids beds!!! We even checked out a day early because we were so disgusted! There are many, many hotels to choose in the disney area and this one should be at the bottom of the list!

This is my 4th time staying at Westgate Lakes. I have to say that this place never disappoints. The only thing I don't like is the "free breakfast with the hard sell". Even as owners we can never get out of that one without feeling uncomfortable. We're here to vacation not feel pressured into something we can't afford. When we say no just let us be.

Room Tip: Ask for a building close to a swimming pool, there are buildings there that takes up to 5 min to walk to.

Thank you for saying that Westgate Lakes Resort and Spa is a "great place to stay". We are always looking to exceed all expectations. In regards to our timeshare presentation. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience of the sales staff. It is definitely not our intention to make you feel pressured in any way from anyone on our staff. You are not obligated in any way to attend the timeshare presentation. We certainly hope this will not prevent you from returning. We hope you will visit us again.

Let's not kid ourselves here, this is not the Four Seasons...but the villas are spacious and the amenities are adequate. Family of 6 fit very comfortably in a 2BR villa, with a full kitchen which was very handy. This place is 20 mins at most from Magic Kingdom, and right across I-4 from SeaWorld. Pools are nice, check-in process was efficient, and rooms were clean. 80's decor is prevalent, we especially enjoyed the "Scarface"-inspired 4 columned jacuzzi bath...but if you're inside staring at the interior of your hotel in Orlando, something is wrong. No matter what is offered, beware the "complimentary" family breakfast - this is where the timeshare sales pressure happens. Our room was booked directly through the resort, so there was no obligatory meeting for something like this, but they do put a mild sell on when you're checking in. It's mostly humorous if you know what's going on, but don't be fooled. The mandatory parking at the front of the resort (for registration) is surely a means by which they keep you in the lobby for the soft sell. Other notes: the resort has OK discounts on park tickets, and you can also pick up tickets ordered through other discounters at the resort (the passes themselves, not just a confirmation to present at Will Call - there is a HUGE difference); there is also a Fresh Market within a mile or so of the property for great grocery shopping.

I purchased a vacation pkg in 2006 and never used due to scheduling conflicts, work, illness, etc. They consistently called and I was finally able to take trip with my husband. I thought the resort was great. Room was clean and very spacious. It was almost to much room for just the two of us. We have adult children so we had done the whole Disney thing so this trip was just to relax and go with the flow and see where things lead. We lingered in the pool and just lounged. Because it is early October it was not filled with families so we had the pool all to ourselves most times (I really liked that). Resort is located very close to the theme parks and offers free shuttles if you need them. Overall I really enjoyed our stay and did not want to leave. Only issue I had is the door didn't seem to close properly like a piece was missing. It locked but during one of the nights, someone pushed on the door then walked away. Notified the front desk but didn't get resolved during our stay. It really didn't concern us to much. We felt very safe and even slept with our patio door opened each night so we could enjoy the breeze. Would go again but be warned you do get the whole timeshare spiel.

Room Tip: Ask for a villa that is facfing the lake so that you can enjoy the view.

Let me start by saying I never go and review anything. I do read the reviews. But never write one. Walk in to the Lobby and you are blown away! Then you are given a welcome package with an annoying sales pitch to purchase a time share. After being told our room was not ready we waited patiently in the lobby. We had a 3 bedroom. The 3 bedroom is basically a 2 bedroom with a lock off unit. The lock off unit and our 2 bedroom had ants. We also found dirty toe nails in both beds in the second bedroom.
And DO NOT USE THE SHUTTLE SERVICE! Thats a whole other review!
