Stayed at this hotel on November 1 and 2, 2010. We had difficulty finding the hotel. (We arrived in town at night, which made it hard to read the street signs, and our MapQuest directions were wrong.) I suggest calling the hotel directly for directions since the street sign for American Way is hard to spot.

We requested a room on the Universal theme-park-view side of the hotel. Apparently, there are no fireworks this time of the year at Universal, but we could see part of one of the roller coasters (I think it was Dragon Challenge) from our 2nd floor room. If you were on a higher floor, you might be able to see more of Universal. There is a little noise on this side from I-4. Wasn't enough to keep us awake, but if you are an extremely light sleeper you may want to request a room on the other side of the hotel.

The room was clean and plenty of towels were always supplied -- no need to ask for extra ones.

Since bed bugs are a concern for many right now I should say that we checked for bed bugs before unpacking anything. We saw no trace of any and had no bites the next morning.

The size of the suite was excellent for the three of us -- all adults. There is a living room/kitchen area separate from the bedroom. I think the living room had a sleeper sofa, but we did not use this. The kitchen has a full fridge and a two-burner stove but no oven. However, there is a microwave. For those who need two rooms that provide privacy, be aware that you must enter the bedroom to get to the bathroom. The bathroom is a tight fit between the door and toilet, but it was clean and adequate with all plumbing working properly and quietly. If you have balance problems, be aware that the tub is not really flat on the bottom. It curves in in such a way that it makes you feel a bit wobbly. If you have balance problems, you may want to ask the hotel about a handicapped room -- perhaps those have walk-in showers that would eliminate this problem.

The rooms and hotel lobby are decorated with bright colors and tropical fish/shells/seahorse decor. Was very pleasant with a nice fountain in the lobby.

The breakfast was good, with a few hot items each morning as well as the typical dry cereal, juices, coffee, and yogurt.

The dinner at night (which I think is served M-Th, 5-7) was more than enough for our dinner and was at just the right time to make it convenient to eat at the hotel after returning from Universal (which closed at 6 both days we were there). They served a main entree, salad, a vegetable, and a choice of drinks on the two nights we ate there.

The hotel is just a short drive to Universal's parking area. Just exit the hotel, turn right on International Drive, turn right at the first light onto Universal Blvd., and follow the signs to Universal. It took us about 5 min. to reach Universal's parking garage.

All in all, this was a very pleasant stay and the free meals saved us a bundle.

I recently went to Orlando with some friends for a concert and to spend some time away, and we ended up using Hilton reward points to cover our stay at the Homewood Suites hotel. Check-in was incredibly fast and efficient - we were in our room within five minutes. Very clean, nicely decorated hotel, the suite was great! Very comfortable for four people to be sure. The full kitchen was a nice touch, we were able to keep sodas and water cold for the morning. High ceilings, comfortable beds, nice big bathroom... what more can I say? Oh yeah, we had towel origami ducks waiting for us on the kitchen counter and the bathroom counter. What a nice touch for such a family-oriented hotel! We had absolutely no problems during our stay - and woke up to a full breakfast with eggs, bacon, sausage, bagels, pastries, cereal, fresh fruit, waffles... you name it, it was there. Our check-out the next day (which is at noon, by the way; you get an extra hour or two compared to other area hotels) was equally as fast as the check-in, just had to hand the keys to the ladies at the desk and we were good to go. They were polite and courteous, asking how everything was and seemed to be pleased to hear that we had a good time.

Would definitely recommend to families - you can easily accommodate four to six people in one room, and the kitchen makes it easy to bring your own food. Especially considering that weekdays also include the full breakfast as well as a light meal at dinnertime, this hotel practically pays for itself. We will definitely be keeping this one in mind for future stays in the Orlando area!

We arrived at Homewood Suites several hours early for check-in and the staff was friendly and allowed us access to our room. The room was fairly clean. There were some stains on the rug. The kitchen and bathroom were clean. There was only one small shampoo and one small conditioner in the room, but housekeeping gave us one each night. I would have liked some more since there was more than one person staying in the room, but I didn't bother to ask. The shower curtain in the bathroom did not have a liner so it either got soaked when we showered or the water dripped out of the shower.

I slept on the sleeper sofa and it was fairly comfortable. The cushions on the couch were not as clean as I would have liked.

My main problem with this hotel was how they handled a crime on the property while we were there. On our first night in the hotel, I was awakened in the middle of the night by police sirens. They were literally right outside the window of our first floor room. The police were still there in the morning along with a crime scene unit truck. The hotel never notified us of what was going on. I approached the police and asked them what was happening and they said that several cars had been broken into overnight. The following night were more police cars in the parking lot of the hotel with sirens on. I realize this is probably a common occurance in Orlando, but I feel like the hotel should have notified everyone of what was happening. I did not notice any security during the day or night at this hotel. Even after the car break-ins.

I was also annoyed by other guests which were groups of teenagers who were being very loud in the hallway outside our room at 2:00 a.m. on both nights of our stay. On all nights of our stay I was awakened multiple times by loud guests and police sirens. It was not a very relaxing environment.

We did not swim in the pool because it was quite small and it wasn't very appealing. It seemed clean, but it was very small and unimpressive. There was a small fitness center with a few exercise machines and an arcade as well. We didn't spend any time in either, so I cannot comment on the upkeep of the machines.

Overall, I would probably not return to this particular hotel. Although it was fairly clean, I did not think it was immaculate. I think there is better theming and security at other Orlando hotels and resorts.

I am very sorry about your recent experience at our hotel. We appreciate that you chose our hotel for your recent visit and I assure you that your experience is not typical. I can appreciate your concern regarding security and noise in the hallways based on your experience. On the dates in question, Universal Studios was having their annual Halloween Horror Nights which was open until 2AM. When some of our younger guests returned from the park, they weren't as courteous to other guests of the hotel as we would have liked.
Regarding security, we do have security every night with electronically-documented patrols of the building and parking area, and we have 24-hour recorded video surveillance. Orlando has recently experienced a seasonal increase in car break-ins, and two boys decided to break into vehicles in our area. When they arrived at our hotel, they were seen and my staff called the police who were able to quickly apprehend both criminals. As in any city, we urge all guests not to leave items of value in their vehicles. We also maintain a strong relationship with our local police liaison units and they take personal pride in keeping our hotels safe. Again, as in any city, we encourage you to remain conscious of your surroundings and refrain from leaving items of value unattended in your vehicle or in public areas. We take the safety and security of our guests very seriously, and we need the help of our guests to avoid creating conditions which invite crime.
Again, thank you for taking the time to submit an objective review of our hotel based on your experience.

This hotel is really amazing for the money. If you are traveling with kids, the fact that you get a separate bedroom is fantastic. Couple that with the free full breakfast...that saves you $40 right there. The entire Homewood concept is great and and the private bedroom really seals the deal. The pool was very nice, free wireless internet...and how great was is to be able to use the business center and print stuff out for free! It's nice not to get nickel and dime'd for a change.

We spent eight nights in this hotel and it was a good place to stay. Friendly staff, clean rooms, nice little swimming pool, ok breakfast, good beds and even a good sleeper in livingroom (which is not very common, I have noticed...)

Over the years we have stayed at many hotels in the Orlando area and this Homewood Suites exceeds all of them in service and cleanliness. The location is great, close to outlet shopping and theme parks. The suites are very large with separate living and sleeping areas. They also have complete kitchen facilities if you choose to dine in. Housekeeping did an excellent job servicing the room each day. Daily breakfast and Monday through Thursday evening meals varied each day and were hot, fresh and very good. The hotel staff is quite friendly, we were greeted with a "Welcome Home" every time we entered the front door. It really made you feel like they truly valued your business. The pool and hot tub were crystal clear with plenty of chairs and loungers in the sun or shade depending on your preference. The hotel also has a business center with two computers (free to use), exercise room and two laundry rooms. We will definitely return to this hotel the next time we are in Orlando.

My friends and I just came back from our vacation in Orlando. We stayed at the Homewood Suites-near Unviersal Studios. Usually we stay at the other Hilton property next door which offered us a good service but we sure prefere the Homewood Suites now. The facilities are good, the location is wonderfull and the service is amazing. The staff is very service oriented and were very helpfull and deligent with all of our needs. The transportation to and from Universal Studios was a plus and the location right next to Wet n Wild its superb. The breakfast was really good and the managers reception in the afternoon was an unexpected plus. We just got back yesterday and were so pleased with our stay that we are allready planning on going back soon.
