The Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes
Ranked #24 of 342 Hotels in Orlando

Reviewed July 18, 2014

Every time we plan a trip with the kids we get caught up over-thinking everything. At the Ritz Carlton Grande Lakes, they've already taken the thinking out of the equation and have made it so easy to have a wonderful time.
For starters, we were smart enough to bring a babysitter, though the Ritz can assist you with that. We reserved connecting rooms on the 9th floor with a pleasant view of the lake and golf course. Rooms were spotless, check-in was effortless. The bellman even assisted in locking off the minibar in the kids room as i know that would have been rifled through almost immediately.
The hotel itself is rather grand..with an enormous pool area...great restaurant off the pool (Bleu) as well. This is the first Ritz that i've seen that is not only kid-friendly but fairly opulent at the same time..and without being stuffy at all. Everyone is treated like they belong and are appreciated...and thats what ive come to expect there.
Room service was on time...plenty of movies On-demand for the kids. While we didnt use the Ritz Kids Club...we were made aware of all the activities and programs they had...perhaps next time.
Traveling to the parks was easy...Ritz does provide transportation or its 15-20 min by car...unleass your going to Sea World or Universal and then its much shorter.
I have stayed at this hotel probably 20x or more now...and i have never had a bad time there. I've eaten at Norman's which is quite good...and am awaiting the new restaurant that is supplanting the original one on the lower level.
As i live in Naples, it's a quck 2.5 hr drive to Orlando with no traffic. Its close enough so i dont need to fly but far enough away to feel like im in a different world. More and more restaurants are popping up nearby the Ritz too so the location which was once scorned i believe no longer has any stygma whatsoever. I will be back to this hotel many many times...i hope they continue to shine...i have little doubt in my mind.

Room Tip: anything with a lake view overlooking the pool and the signature 18th hole is quite nice. wifi is in...

If you need a getaway for multiple reasons indulge in this for a moment. In a nutshell there's no reason whether it be business, pleasure, family time or simple peace and quiet that won't meet your need here at this hotel. This is largest Ritz in the country (so I'm told) and the sprawling landscape gives guests the perfect opportunity to unwind and fill their time with virtually any array of activity.

I've stayed at seven Ritz club level's and this stacks in easily at the top three on our list. You don't have to stay on club level to get the quality of this resort. We decided to use this property for our babymoon. Our two year old son came along with us for part of the time before the grandparents took him. For starters I was surprised at the fact that you would never know you're in Orlando if the mapquest didn't say so. The property sits on 500+ acres tucked away inside lush protected natural Everglades forest where the hotel's reflection bounces off lakes that wind in and out of the golf course. Mickey and Minnie (while we love them) never made an appearance anywhere and for that I love. Now don't let me steer you away from the happiest place on earth because part of your $25 daily resort fee (which you can opt out of) includes roundtrip shuttles to all the parks. We decided battling crowds to ride Space Mountain wasn't in our game plan. We needed a secluded spot to enjoy the pool, spa and the resort amenities. It delivered.

From the moment you enter you're greeted with the Ritz-Carlton standard by which they seem to live by: customer first. It may be remembering you by name which always adds a personal touch or the way they take time to go out of their way to make sure you remember the little things. Take for instance Chris in valet who realized we were spending our last vacation before our new arrival and sent a bottle of Champagne to the room. Or take the actions of Niecce Williams in rooms control who left two gifts on our bedside one night consisting of two different Ritz outfits, one for a little girl and one for a little boy. She never forget our conversation when we told her we were not finding out the sex of the baby. Brittany Boyd left her mark from guest relations when a small lion stuffed animal was awaiting our little boy on the bed upon arrival. Trisha Montgomery and Jason Mckinney in the club level decided knowing our names wasn't enough. They wanted to learn more about our stay by taking a few steps to make sure we were comfortable like getting a guest pass to the spa and packing a few to go drinks. In fact Trisha recognized guests from years ago who were there enjoying a girls weekend. Get my drift. It's not just doing a job, it is taking the time to go beyond the job responsibility and make someone smile which will make guests remember the wonderful time. If every business can employ a model like that think about the world we live in and where we would be. Chris works hard in valet, he didn't have to send the champagne up to our room with a personal note attached. He did it because he cared, not because he had too or was getting paid too. It's encouraged and all the notes that accompanied the gifts from the other employees signify one thing: a positive work environment where you come first.

The property shares its spread out space with the Marriott so you have access to all their amenities as well and that includes restaurants and the lazy river to name a few. We spent some time at the Marriott but the ambiance of the Ritz pool and property had a deeper appeal and left us clinging to it. The spa and fitness center are in the center of both hotels. The spa is huge. Very nice and spacious. Massages are very good, staff is friendly and spa amenities come complete with all the standard features including a sauna, hot tub, cold plunge, quiet area, steam room etc. The spa pool is a place of relaxation and tranquility where lap lines and serenity mix. It's a perfect oasis to slip away from the child's play and water festivities of the regular pool. We enjoyed some relaxation and then took our spirits to the regular pool where the best Bloody Mary and Pina Colada were served. Next to the regular pool is the poolside bar and restaurant Blue. Kids eat free. It's a great place to quench your thirst or sink your teeth into a salad with champagne dressing or our favorite grouper sandwich. The fitness center is big and has plenty of cardio equipment alongside a full rack of dumbbells and machines to work off that Blue burger which was another favorite. Taking a stroll around the property to view a butterfly garden, taking in a lesson or rental of standup paddle board for the lake or taking a lesson and/or taking in a round of golf on the course could be in your plan of attack for a weekend getaway. Again there's a lot lurking inside this property that you wouldn't expect since the common idea is that Disney will be ever present which is not the case. The lobby lounge is great for a drink and snack. Try a specialty drink made by one of the bartenders and say hello to Michael Desilva. He'll give you great service and few good stories.

The club lounge was the biggest in any Ritz we've seen and the food was always to Ritz standard...delicious! It high so you can catch a glimpse of the Epcot fireworks show at 9pm. The resort is very kid friendly. From a kid pool to a kids getaway camp, you won't have an annoyed child looking for something to do. The regular pool is spacious and allows for great family interaction. Try for a high room that faces the pool and lakes. Rates drop in summer so catch a deal. Go when we went, the week after July 4th or a major holiday (out of season) for that matter where occupancy is low and room upgrades and late checkouts are common. I can't say enough about what's lurking inside this property. If you find yourself in the mood to wind down and get away or if you need a base camp to park hop around Orlando, give the Ritz at Grande Lakes a try. You won't be disappointed!

Excellent host for multi-day corporate celebration. The Ritz rarely fails to exceed expectations and this was no exception. My party of 5 called on various types of services and each employee overachieved time and time again. Very impressive. This should be a number one option for any traveler so long as the price is within range.

Room Tip: Pool view is nice... Patio area for some rooms is not private.

I have stayed here regularly for business and with family and always look forward to seeing the lovely flower display to see what they have come up with this time on the entry table. Fresh beverages in entry way with iced tea/lemonade, fruit water. Public and private rooms are gorgeous, incredibly comfortable, campus and landscaping is amazing for taking walks. Pool extraordinary. Especially lovely at Christmas with the life size gingerbread house in the lobby and decor. Gym is wonderful! Service and staff so accommodating. JW Marriott on same property is very nice but I prefer the Ritz as JW more focused on conventions/business events and not as relaxing vibe.

Room Tip: View of the pool and golf course better than other side. Some rooms have closed in balconies which...

I can not say a bad thing about this hotel. We stayed here from June 30-July 9, 2014. This was our fouth stay.
Food> Excellent
Room> Excellent
Pool> Excellent (Plus you get to use the lazy river at J.W., just a short walk away)
Staff> Seriously the best around. We LOVE Zach (now poolside at J.W.) and manager Amanda F and the other manager Amanda L, it was crazy to see all the lobby staff and concierge actually remembered us.
Closeness to local parks> 20 mins (maybe) to Disney and 5 mins down the same road the hotel is on to the other local attractions (SeaWorld, Discovery Cove, Aquatica)
If you can take a trip here during the Fourth of July, you will love it. This is our third 4th and the fireworks the Ritz puts out is top notch. Really nice entertainment and the fireworks accompany music that is played on the lawn.

I truly can not say anything bad about this place. We love it. We are faithful to the Ritz. :)

My husband and I have been traveling to this Ritz Carlton for several years and are always impressed by the consistent level of service. The staff has remained the same over the years and they always seem to remember us each time we return.

This year we brought our 10 month old daughter and the entire hotel was accommodating. From the nicely made up crib, to the bag of goodies including outlet covers, a faucet cover, and a complete toiletry set they leave nothing out. To top it off we returned to our room the second day there to find a Ritz bath towel with a matching washcloth with her name embroidered on it.

The golf staff are top notch as well. They too remember us year after year, and go the extra mile. They have an excellent caddy concierge program, which makes golf so enjoyable.

Room Tip: Get a room overlooking the lake/golf course if traveling on a holiday for a great fireworks view. Th...

Right from the start, the property made sure to take care of us. Our car arrived early to pick us up at the airport and helped us get our luggage at baggage claim. The trip to the airport was quick, and the check-in process smooth. Joy at the front desk gave us a warm reception, some great recommendations for entertainment, and a glass of champagne to kick off the weekend. Darrell took the luggage and guided us to our room, all the while providing great advice on how to take advantage of the amenities on the property. We hit the pool that evening and got a chance to unwind.

They allowed us to schedule a shuttle to Disney at the last minute the next day, but when we arrived, the driver informed us that the shuttle was full. We informed Darrell and he did not hesitate - he had us in a hotel car within 5 minutes on our way to Disney. The property has it all covered and the staff is willing to do what it takes to make sure you have an exceptional experience.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the pool and lake - if you are up above the third floor, you can look out over the...
