“great savings, great hotel”

Excellent hotel, great staff. Bed's and pillow amazing! 5 minutes to Universal Studios or I-drive! Rooms are clean, staff friendly and a fabulous breakfast. Free "snacks" really could be dinner. Greatest bargain in Orlando!

We spent this past weekend at Universal Studios and decided to try out the Drury Inn for a night. It is an Excellent 3 star hotel - not a resort! I read the reviews prior to booking so I had an idea what to expect.

The hotel is an average looking 3 star hotel but it is newer and very clean. We had rented a 1 bedroom suite on the 7th floor so there would be more space for two 7 year old girls and my wife and I could have our own space! Check in was easy and pleasant, the room was spacious and clean with a small fridge and microwave. The only objection that I have about the room is there are no locks on the interior bathroom or bedroom doors.

The extra "perks" with this hotel are nice! The free popcorn was a huge hit with the girls, the afternoon snack with free drinks (adult drinks too!) was a nice touch and the free breakfast was good.

The pool is a smaller indoor/outdoor pool that the kids thought was the greatest thing ever! I was surprised by that since they are used to the larger resort pools! There is also a larger hot tub that I used to soak my weary legs after chasing the girls around the park for the day! It is not a resort, but perfect for the size of the hotel.

All in all for the price and extras, I would stay there again. It is a nice clean hotel only 2 minutes to Universal and all at reasonable price!

Room Tip: Get a high floor room away from the highway

We've learned that not all 'suite' hotels have actual 2-room suites; instead they have 2-area suites. This hotel has 2 very separate rooms: a living area with hide-a-bed and a bedroom with a door that shuts. One bathroom was sufficient. I didn't think the fold out bed was comfortable at all - I would've slept on the couch instead - but our adult daughter found it to be 'just fine'.

Breakfast was excellent. Location was convenient (shopping areas just a couple blocks away, including a Starbucks for those interested). Everything was clean. The bathroom has a shampoo/conditioner/body wash dispense system in the shower instead of little bottles. - great idea: less waste of product and less trash.

In my personal rating system this gets a 3 (out of 3) because we would make a point to return to this hotel if we're in the area again.

Stayed here for three nights before a cruise to dip our toes into Disney with a two year old. This is my third stay at a Drury and without exception they always greet you warmly. Checked in without hassle and headed for the room on the fifth floor. Got into a corner king bed room and realized: no tub! We have a two year old boy and a tub is an absolute necessity. So I headed back down to the front desk to see if we could get a room with a tub. Unfortunately all regular king bed rooms have a shower only, as they are mainly used by business travelers. Ouch. We never seen anything about that when we booked the room. Bad for us, except, hey we're staying at a Drury Inn and Suites. The front desk clerk goes back for a moment, talks to the manager on duty, and voila, upgraded to a king suite WITH a bath for no charge. This is a great hotel. They know how to keep a loyal customer. Now to the facility:

-This is a brand new hotel so yes everything is in perfect shape, with no kinks to work out from being new. The beds are top notch, the rooms are spotless and all of the public areas are perfect. They have the Drury Inn standard pool, half indoor half outdoor. It was the biggest one I have seen in my three stays at a Drury. Rooms were cleaned well every day. Great windows in all of the rooms for a clean bright view. I did not use the exercise room on this stay but checked it out. It had everything you would need for a basic on the go workout, with very nice machines.
-Love the breakfast! This is one of the reasons I stay here. The value for your money. Their breakfast has something for everyone. Yes it's not the endless cruise ship buffet but it's quick, has everything you need to get going so you don't waste time stopping somewhere to eat and cut into your vacation time! Especially at Disney! I love the 5:30 kickback snack time but did not get to take advantage here because we stayed at Disney late every day, but it is always decent, especially for kids. The free bar drinks are a nice touch. We did take advantage of the free soft drinks and popcorn every night.

Now for a few minor issues:
- It was easy to get into the area where the hotel was, but not always easy to get out. There was basically one way out to get to the freeway to head to Disney and it was busy. Just a bit of a hassle.
-Its about 25 minutes to Disney's parking lot from here so it's a bit of a drive. On the good side, for the value it's worth the drive!
-Sometimes it took a while for them to refill something at the breakfast area. Not a huge deal but when you have a two year old revved up for Disney it does not make for a good thing.

Now if your going to Orlando for Universal Studios then this is definitely the hotel for you! It is minutes from it and the road it is on will take you right to it! Perfect, again, for the money and comfort.

Conclusion:
If you've stayed in a Drury then you know what your getting. So have no fear! If you haven't then book here in confidence. You might see all of the glowing reviews for Drury's across the US and think "these all can't be right, can they?" But they are. This company knows how to treat people and my hope is they never change their philosophy. Rest assured that you are getting a good value and more. Know this, when I go back in a year or so, I WILL be staying here!

Room Tip: We found out the hard way that any non-suite king bed room had a walk in shower, no bath! So avoid...

loved the hotel, staff was excellent, the free breakfast and lite dinner were excellent, loved the free drinks and popcorn, rooms were clean,i really had no complaints but towards the end of my trip,i was there 6 nights.there was a dog barking constantly after midnight.this is a pet friendly hotel, and pets are allowed in any room.most hotels i have been in before that allowed pets, always had a special pet section or pet floor, but this is not the case at a drury hotel.when i addressed this issue the staff with this issue, they said sorry but they cant do anything about it,so for that reason i doubt i will ever go to a drury hotel again

Room Tip: bring earmuffs

DruryHotels, General Manager at Drury Inn & Suites Orlando, responded to this review, January 7, 2013
Thank you for choosing Drury Hotels. We appreciate hearing from our guests and are extremely sorry that your stay was less than perfect. I am very sorry that there was a dog barking during your stay. Unfortunately, even though our pet policy only allows pets to be on their own for 30 minutes not all guests abide by that rule. We are currently reviewing our pet policy. If ever during a stay at a Drury Hotel you have questions or concerns, please let us know right away so we can work to fix the issue as soon as possible. We truly appreciate your business and hope you will give us additional opportunities to serve your lodging needs. To discuss any further questions or concerns, please contact the hotel's General Manager directly and we are happy to be of assistance.

We were here for 3 nights just before New Years.
The rooms are large, quiet, and new.
The staff is great!
The Internet was free and easy to access!
The location is Excellent!
The breakfast was good. However, bacon would be a good alternative to sausage each day.
We'll be back!!

Room Tip: There is a convenience store next door and Whole Foods across the street.

I got here on Dec 30th 2012 and will stay until tomorrow Jan 4th 2013 The hotel is brand new, clean, spacious rooms, super close to Universal Studios, it has indoor-outdoor connected pool, nice size jacuzzi, free sodas and hot beverages downstairs, its got it all but The housekeeping Who hasnt cleaned This room Since i got here all she Does is makes up The bed, replaces The toilet paper and byebye. So I called today to The lobby and complained about it and less Than 5 mins later a guy on a suit cleaned everything up. He was very nice and apologized for that.
This is a good place. Its quiet, family oriented, its got it all but housekeeping needs moré supervision.
