We stayed here for 14 nights in a little mermaid room.
Check in was easy as always and the staff were very friendly! Our room was very far from the main reception building as are all of the little mermaid rooms. We was placed in a room facing the hour glass lake with the new skyliner (sadly not quite open) operating. First of all we heard little noise from these when outside and certainly couldn’t hear them from in the room!

The room was clean and big for just us two but I have to admit the room layout is a little cramped when you compare it to a pop century room. The TV is a good size and the fridge was plenty for cans and bottle of drink for use in the parks. The room had two double beds which seemed quite small for us and we are not the biggest of couples! The bathroom was a nice size with bath shower combo, the shower being very powerful and nice and hot. The sink area was large and is separate from the toilet shower room. The theming of the room is nice as it isn’t over powering but is definitely themed well.

The resort itself is very large especially if you are in a little mermaid room! The reception area is about a 5-10 minute walk depending how quick you walk. Definitely 10 minutes in the hot weather! The theming of the buildings are just amazing to walk through from the lion king to cars and finding Nemo. It’s great for kids and pictures! Their are 3 pools. One at the little mermaid, one at finding Nemo and one at cars. There’s no pool for the lion king suites and the same goes for a washing room.

The canteen has a wide variety of fresh tasty food so always something to eat for everyone! Also the canteen was much less crowded that’s pop century one across the lake. There is a bar by the pool which I felt was a little pricey but a nice way to end the day. There is an arcade with plenty of games too.

Driving wise we was about 10 minutes from animal and magic kingdom and 5 from Epcot and studios. Disney springs is 10 minutes away and a gas garage is at the end of the road. The nearest Walmart is about 10 minutes away also so the resort in my opinion is one of the best placed resorts for being in the middle of it all.

I did have a few negatives, with this being the most expensive of the value resorts I think pop century had nicer rooms however facilities were easily better at Art of Animation.
I also found the room we had was so far from both the car park and the reception but this is more the way the place is designed.

Overall with the new skyliner in place as of tomorrow I believe this has to be one of the best and cheapest resorts to stay at. In the value category I would say Pop century is better value (and also a short walk from art of animation for the facilities) so if you want the best stay probably pop century just beats this place due to price And the new style rooms! But in terms of the rest art of animation is amazing and well worth a stay!

I can tell from your photos that you really took the time to explore the larger than life theming of this locale, and I love it! This property does span a lot of ground, but I’m glad to know that the décor along the way made it a bit more entertaining. It’s also lovely to know that your room was a nice fit for your needs and had a truly beautiful view.

No matter which side of Hourglass Lake you choose to visit next, we can’t wait to sketch up some magic for you! Until then!

This is the second straight year we have stayed at the Art of Animation - Ariel room. We stay 1 night each time before heading to our DVC resort. For the second straight year, our room was dirty and I was not happy about this. The resort is nice with the pool and theme, but the cleanliness of the room is a big turnoff for a future stays there. The bed had dirt stains, there was glitter all over the carpet, the walls had stains (came off when I rubbed with a wash cloth so housekeeping could have done this). I am very disappointed that for the second straight year our room was dirty. We did not say anything since we arrived at 6:30PM and staying one night but if I planned to stay for more than 1 night then I would have complained. I expect better than this from Disney. I would not recommend Art of Animation to anyone for this reason.

Room tip: Do not choose Ariel rooms - they are dirty. Maybe other ones like Nemo or Cars are clean, but 2 straight years of dirty Ariel rooms.

Whether you’re staying here for just a night or for a week-long escape, we aim to make each visit with us a true delight, and I’m sorry we missed the mark. I can understand not wanting to share your concern as you only visited for one night, but please don’t hesitate to do so here or indeed at any of our Resorts so we can resolve the concern as quickly as possible. I appreciate you reviewing your visit, and we look forward to welcoming you back to Walt Disney World Resort soon.

Overall, the hotel itself is nothing special other than the heavy themes. We stayed in a standard Little Mermaid room. Everything about this hotel was placed as far away as possible from everything. We were assigned a room that was at the farthest away from transportation and the cafe/lobby building. Transportation from MK or DS, it was assigned the very last very farthest bus station possible. After a long day at the parks, i dreaded the walk back to the bus. Im glad to say that I have experienced this iconic hotel but i will not be staying here again. On the bright side tho, the room was clean and the pools were enjoyable. Our favorite was the "finding nemo" pool. The little mermaid section is also the quietest which was nice as well.

Room tip: Only consider staying here if you are a family of 4+

From the open roads of Radiator Springs to the bubbling undersea world of The Little Mermaid, I always feel like I have stepped inside one of our classic animated films when I stay here with my family. While I'm glad that you enjoyed this Resort hotel overall, I am sorry for any inconvenience you experienced.

I can understand how a longer-than-expected walk back to your room can have an impact on your vacation - especially after a long day of making memories in our Theme Parks. For your next visit, I suggest checking out Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter. It has a much smaller footprint, and I think you will enjoy having a shorter walk to all of the things that the Resort hotel has to offer.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We hope you will join us again soon!

I went on a vacation with a friend and we got to stay at a value and this resort. Honestly I liked the value better.

This is a massive hotel. These moderate resorts need more than one bus stop on these properties. We were at the end of the Little mermaid room and it was a hike to EVERYTHING.

Once you get to transportation it's great and we were there right before they opened the airliners so that's a fantastic asset.

Food, eh. wasn't impressed. You are making a huge amount of food for a large population but you can tell that a lot of the food was "stock piled". I can see the pancakes I ordered was in a serving tray with plastic wrap on a counter behind the server and while pancakes staying in that condition for a long period of time does not make them as enjoyable as fresh pancakes.

The room? decorated/themed without a doubt. But I was more impressed with the rooms at the value resort. I am happy they gave individual shampoo and soap (the value had it locked up in big bottles in the shower) but the shower was just average. We had to call house keeping because the bathroom was dirty when we checked in. And the break between the bathroom and the bedroom was just a curtain. I really feel it should of been more of a sliding glass door.

When we went to check in they had 2 people on desk and it took a LONG time to check in. We didn't do the online check in because the day before we had a TERRIBLE time checking in and we ended up having to go to the front desk anyway.

I'm sorry to hear that your time at Disney's Art of Animation Resort wasn't all you had hoped for, Tiffany. This Value Resort is certainly a colorful place to stay with delicious food, unique recreation and more, but it sounds like it wasn't the perfect match for your visit. I appreciate you taking to share such a detailed description of your time and concerns; after all, feedback is how we continue to improve.

For your next visit, I'd recommend checking out Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter. This Moderate Resort is certainly more compact and may be better suited to the experience you're seeking. In addition, the Mickey-shaped Beignets are a fresh and delicious way to start your day! Be sure to keep it in mind when planning your next trip!

Thanks for stopping by to share your thoughts. No matter where you choose to stay next, we look forward to welcoming you back for a more magical visit.

Unfortunately our experience at Art of Animation was not up to the standards we are accustomed to at Disney. When we arrived in our room the floor was wet from the a/c. They stated they came and repaired that but it was wet again the following day and the room was very warm during the day, but did cool down in evening. We have 4 kids and this trip was our twins first trip AND their 5th birthday. I set up a call for their first trip, and no one called. I then set up a birthday call and let them know they did not call for first visit call, they apologized and assured me they would call and leave a message if we were not in the room. We had told the twins while at the park "I think someone called us when we were gone" we ran to the room and NOTHING. I also found it very annoying that they only have one line for those checking in and for current guests with questions/needs. One day I had to wait for 30 minutes to ask a question that no one else could answer, they all kept referring me to the front desk. Lastly unfortunately the food selection was not great at all, breakfast was the best. Unfortunately the staff in the cafe were far from friendly. One morning the line with waffles had run out of bacon, but all other lines had bacon. They refused to get bacon from one of the other lines, and said our only option was extra sausage if we wanted. I really do not like writing a negative review, especially for Disney, but unfortunately this one doesn't get a positive one. We had planned on having a few relaxing nights at the resort to swim but ultimately decided on other resorts and Disney Springs since we were not happy.

As a parent, you start dreaming of introducing your children to the most beautiful parts of the world from the moment they are born. It is no wonder then that a first visit to the Walt Disney World Resort is among one of the most exciting adventures to plan for your little ones! Not only can you relive your own childhood through their eyes, but you get to make new memories as a family. When you combine their first visit with a milestone birthday celebration, your vacation should be nothing less than magical. I sincerely apologize that there were so many bumps in the road that kept you from having the experience that we want our Guests to have.

As a parent myself, I know that it is the little things that really have the biggest impact. Seeing their eyes light up when they get a phone call from one of their favorite characters wishing them a happy birthday is a moment that is not only amazing for them but for us as parents too. With the assurance of our Cast Members, you had no reason to doubt that the message would be waiting for them. I am not sure how this went wrong, but I am so very sorry for the disappointment.

I'm sorry to hear that the menu options in Landscape of Flavors were not a good fit for your family. If you stay with us again, I suggest checking out the dining location at Disney's Pop Century Resort. It is just a short stroll over the bridge from here and has a variety of other options to choose from. You can even view the menu on the My Disney Experience mobile app! Furthermore, our Cast Members should always be ready to go above and beyond for each of our Guests, so I apologize this was not the case during breakfast.

I truly appreciate the feedback you have shared. I hope that your family will return to the Walt Disney World Resort again soon.
