“Excellent, New, Clean Resort, built for Family/Kids”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013

New and clean resort, but built for kids/family (not really for couples). We used it as base to do other things in Orlando/Florida, and then come back, but if staying at the resort most of the time, it is built for families with kids. Even so, the amenities were very nice, including mini-golf, bar, hot tubs, game room, pools (there are kid pools but the main pools have pirate ships, etc. for kids). Staff nice, but activities geared towards kids/families. The resort is a pleasant place to stay, with large rooms, TVs, DVD players, kitchen stocked with dishes, silverware, paper towels, full kitchen, nice couches. It is located very close to Sea World, Publix, restaurant strips (but need a car for all), and bit of a trek to downtown Orlando, Winter Park, Ivanhoe, Citirus Bowl, etc.

Room Tip: You will almost defintely park a ways from the elevator, so get a cart in advance. Would avoid the...

Stayed here the beginning of December. Could find absolutely no complaints. Family of 4 with 1 aged 9 and 1 aged 3, so 2 bedrooms and 2 baths with washing machine, dryer and kitchenette was ideal. I thought the weather was going to be cool so I only brought 1 pair of shorts per person. Thankfully with the washer and dryer, I washed the shorts each evening and they were ready again for wearing in the morning. Had groceries delivered from Garden grocer with no complaints and that was a great way to start each morning leisurely. Was a 15 minute drive to Walt Disney world and anything else needed for a great stay was available closer by.. There water park on site was very clean. Recommend this hotel.

Overall, we had a good experience. The staff where great and very helpful. They held a great New Year's party for the kids which was really nice, we and our kids loved it. The room was nice and the grounds were too. The pools were nice however, the pool with the pirate ship can be a bit scary if you have a toddler, the stairs were scary! Overall lives up to Marriott's standards.

Great resort! Little, comfortable, beautiful, full of fun options and things to do! The only thing I will do different the next time I stay here will be to request a villa in the upper floors. I did not like very much to be in the first one because room supplies and garbage was to close to me, but other than that EXCELLENT! Thanks for a great experience!!!

Room Tip: Ask for a villa in the upper floors, they are more private!

We stayed may of 2012 in a 2 bedroom villa/suite. Very spacious and clean. Cool pool"s" yes there's more than one along with a kids Pirate theme small but fun waterpark. We did not eat at the resort always ate out and was about 15m from Disney Parks. Less than5 minutes to Sea World Lots of places to eat around.

Just returned from a week-long stay at this property. Obviously we stayed in a room that hasnt been totally updated. Old white appliances, tired laminate countertops that were stained, very dusty bathroom cabinets that I had to personally clean upon arrival!?! We exchanged our 2 bedroom at a much nicer Marriott property for a 1 bedroom here and that was only the beginning of our disappointment. I am glad to hear there is a renovation underway as this is a 3 1/2 star property at best when considering our rundown room. The pools were fun for the kids. Food and drink prices were higher than expected. "Activities" were more of what I would expect at cheap 3-star timeshare, not our higher-priced Marriott resort. The "prizes" were laughable. The kids running the activities must have been college kids. The messages they left announcing activities were really odd as if they were trying to be spunky and fun but ended up sounding like insecure nerdy church camp directors from when I was a kid. Overall, there was just an unprofessional air to all employees and as owners who have traded many times, we were surprised and dissapointed. If we trade for an Orlando proprty again, we'll try the one across the street. In fact, we spent one night of this trip at the Loews Royal Pacific so that we could have early access to Harry Potter and the Express Pass access. We will extend our time there next time. If we're going to Disney, we'll stick to their on-site hotels as well. Hopefully the reported renovation will bring this resort back to an acceptable and more comparable level at least aesthetically. The staff is another issue entirely. The location is pretty good as it is close to Sea World and relatively close to theme parks. Grocery and drug stores are nearby. It is off the beaten path, but not by much, so I believe a family could vacation here without feeling like they had to go to a park every day. Has potential, just needs a little TLC by a knowledgable Marriott manager.

This property is very practical for families during an Orlando stay. It is not plush (which was not the expectation) but very suitable for family fun. Great location, just a few blocks from Sea World. The activities are great - lots of planned activities, putt-putt golf, playground, small arcades with about 6-7 games. The weather was slightly cool, but kids were able to swim one day in the pool (warm water). The splash area had cold water, but would certainly be loads of fun during better weather. Staff was very friendly and we appreciated the gated entrance with guard. Would rate a solid 3.5 stars, the diminished rating was for lack of cleanliness. We stayed in Building 12 , first floor. We didn't experience problems with noise. The screened in porch faced the lake which was peaceful and relaxing. On the first floor, there were some limitations on privacy, but the kids sat out on the porch and had great fun speaking to those passing by and just people watching. The room had been renovated with granite countertops, stainless steel appliances and flat televisions. The kitchen floor and entry floor were not cleaned. Upon check-in, I requested the floor to be cleaned. It helped some, but the dark black marks were due to built up dirt/scum/gooey spots that needed to be gently scrubbed away rather than simply mopping over. There were dried pizza sauce stains on the floor. Using something with a sharp edge would easily have gotten up spots. It just shows that between visits/stays there is only a cursory cleaning. The master bedroom has only a separate door for toilet, but sink AND shower are not fully partitioned off- so there is no privacy for the shower. So if someone is showering, it makes the entire bedroom unusable by others. The main table is diner (booth) style, which was expected from the pictures. Overall a good stay and I would recommend to other families.
