“Excellent-just what we needed”

We loved it! The space was much bigger than our last HGV visit in Vegas. Pool area is fab, with dive in movie at night or the hotels own free movie screenings once or twice a day. Clean, spacious-perfect.

This is a very nice resort convenient to all of the theme parks, but especially to Sea World and Aquatica, which is right across the street (Central Florida Pkwy). We walked to Sea World, but drove to Aquatica (still walkable, but a little far for kids). Tip: We bought combination Sea World and Aquatica tickets that allow you to come and go at both parks for 14 days from time of first use (we only used 4 days). These were a pretty good deal.

Sunday check in was busy, but efficient. We were in and out in about 15 minutes. Check out was via phone, so was even faster.

The units were very well laid out. We stayed in a 2 bedroom in the Sandy's building. It was clean upon arrival and tidied up mid week. One of my kids used a sofabed and it was surprisingly comfortable. The resort supplied so much soap, dishwasher detergent, dish soap, shampoo, and conditioner in the unit that we barely needed to touch our own. They also had a generous starter supply of coffee. The Jacuzzi in the master bedroom was huge. Our only need for maintenance was to have a kettle with peeling paint inside replaced, which they had done by the time we returned that day. One of our kids threw up in bed one night and we stripped the bed and offered to clean the sheets, but they said no problem and sent someone who remade the bed for us.

I think the buildings are all concrete because my cell phone wouldn't work in the unit at all and only got a weak signal on the balcony. The benefit of this, however, was no discernable noise from other units. There wasn't much of a view from our second floor balcony (there were two balconies in our unit, one off each bedroom), but the plus side of a lower floor was that we didn't have to wait for the slow elevator and could take the stairs. I'd prefer a lower floor for that reason.

Free wired and wireless internet access was available in the unit and it seemed pretty fast to me.

The grounds were well maintained and there was a jogging path around the lake that I used a couple of mornings. The fitness center had very nice equipment (treadmills with built-in TVs), although the one weight machine created a bottleneck that left people waiting. They could use another. I used dumbbells, which are also available, rather than wait for the weight machine. They could probably use another treadmill as well (all three were in use at two points during my 7 AM visit).

The resort seemed to have a good activities schedule, but we were so busy off the resort that we weren't around to take advantage of the activities. They had movies in their theatre, ice cream by the pool, etc.

We were RCI exchangers, but we were not solicited for a timeshare presentation at all, not even by phone message. The only reference to vacation ownership we saw was a booklet on our coffee table.

The resort has three very nice pools, with the waterfall pool being our kids' favourite. While nice, the pools were also the source of our only significant concern about the resort. The water at all three was milky. We wore swimming masks and still couldn't make out a person clearly from 6 feet away underwater. Granted, the pools had a continuously high bather load in the hot July Orlando weather, but other hotel and theme park pools we swam in this month (including nearby Aquatica) managed to have clear water. This issue prevents me from rating the resort higher, as pools are very important to families and kids. I am sure they could easily fix this.

The staff we met were all very friendly. In summary, this is a great resort and we'd be happy to return.

We had a weekend getaway. Day 1 was in downtown Orlando. This was Day 2: I-Drive/Sea World. We stayed here for one night, a Saturday.

LOCATION: South, quiet end of I-Drive. Nowhere near all the good restaurants, although Outback Steakhouse and Publix Supermarket are right across the street. Both Sea World and Aquatica are a few miles down the road. And something my girlfriend loved, adjacent next door is a shopper's dream: a loaded outlet mall. And upon going to the mall's Service Desk, if you present your Hilton room card you get like a free VIP pamphlet, good for various discounts at all the different stores. I think those discounts paid for our room!

SERVICE: Online I noticed some people talking about how far away some of the rooms were from the pools. That in mind, in the online reservation, I made a special request to be near a hot tub. I was amazed to find our room was OVERLOOKING one of the two hot tubs. Just awesome, couldn't have been closer. Fast check-in, and the knowledgeable front desk clerk (tipped us about the VIP pamphlet) had to be on some sort of Happy Pills :) From the greeter to front desk to bartenders to security, all excellent.

ATMOSPHERE: Family-friendly, lots of kids. At the main pool, all day up until 11PM there were events, games, or movies (cool inflatable big screen) keeping kids busy while the adults lounged. A typical poolside bar ($10/mixed drinks) and patio restaurant, small hotel-grilling area, and ice cream stand. Food was unimpressive. You get what it says, the scallops seemed almost microwaved. Pool area closes at 11PM. A nearby playground by main pool for kids. Great atmosphere for friends and families and relaxation, def not for singles, romance or nightlife. And just two hot tubs for such a large resort I think was inadequate.

ROOM: The suite was bigger than expected. Awesome jacuzzi inside the bedroom. Full kitchen, granite -- otherwise cozy like a basic apartment, fans. Screened patio w/ table, 4 chairs, fan. Nice view of the resort centerpiece lake. Clean. Two Antiquated CRT televisions? Despite being right by the main pool action, room was well-insulated and quiet w/ the doors shut.

It's far off the strip, but definitely will stay here again for our next Sea World or Aquatica trip, or in general if kids start poppin'.

Very good location. Can walk across the street to Sea World. 10 minutes to Disney. Most rooms with refigerator, ovens, and microwaves. Many stores and restaurants nearby. Property restaurant was reasonably priced with good selection for lunch/dinner. Pool/Bar food. The have a breakfast buffet on sunday mornings.

Rooms were clean, modern and well appointed.

Only issues: Elevators are VERY slow. Housekeeping is only done for weekly stays (not shorter stays) and only on the 4th day.

This hotel is one of the finest hotels in Orlando. I have stayed in many luxury resorts including Orange Lake Couontry CLub etc. but this was far superior. We stayed in a two-bedroom suite and the apartment was outstanding. Kept perfectly clean and even had a large 4 person whirlpool tub and 50 inch TV!! The pool area is outstanding with a choice of heated or non-heated pool with a waterfall and a jacuzzi with a waterfall. If you're looking for luxury, a two-bedroom suite in HGV Sea World is the way to go! Utterly outstanding.

I had high expectations for the Hilton at Orlando because our prior experiences at Orlando Hotels have been excellent (we usually stay at Disney Hotels). However, this time it wasn't so. We arrived to the hotel on Friday at noon and there were no rooms available at that time. They told us they would call us in a couple of hours to give us the room number. Nobody called us all day. When we got to the hotel at 8 pm they gave us a room. Next to the room there was a small baby who did nothing but cry. We called the front desk and after going to the front desk again, they sent us to another room. Our room key would not open. We waited outside for over 20 min to have security come and open the door for us. When security showed, his key would not open. After waiting outside with two small children in the humidity and the heat for someone else for another 20 minutes, his key would also not open. They did not know what to do with us at that point. It is now 10 pm and we have no place to sleep. My children are exhausted and so are we, and we are still waiting outside in the heat and the humidity. They finally sent us to another room, and guess what? the key would not open. After waiting for another 30 min, finally, someone else came and opened the door at almost 11 pm. The worst part of it all is that no one called to apologize for what had happened. Although any good hotel would have had the manager at least send a note apologizing, my husband had to approach the hotel manager and all he had to say was that things like that happen. Overall very disappointing. We would never stay at this hotel again.
